Rey will be a good tool to broad x wing comunity

By Hexdot, in X-Wing

I have heard more than a couple of times that Star Wars is quite a male dominant world. And probably it is the truth. Wargaming, minis, modelism...allways boy's toys. But Star Wars is global and so big. Rey is not only a strong and charismatic Hero, she is the way to bring more girls to x wing.

This will be a boy's game, but many women were pleased with Rey's role in ep 7. So in demostration games I think that more than one girl will try X wing because Rey is not only a good pilot...she.will.be one of the best pilots in the game.

So I was disapointed to read about this.expansion, and not about Rebel Veterans. But perhaps in the long term.this could be a very wise.move. Or perhaps not

Friday is supposed to be a happy day Hex.

Well my girlfriend certainly liked the idea of Rey in this game. Instead of the usual "thats nice honey" when I got excited for Heroes she gave me a "Oh really? Thats cool!". Makes me a bit hopefull that she gets some motivation to play. Maybe if there is a sweet scenario in that box it will be a good starting point...

More representation of (non-sexualised) female characters in X-Wing and in miniatures games in general can only be for the good. Plus who doesn't want to be able to fly Finn and Rey in the Falcon? I'm only missing crew BB-8 to be able to recreate my favourite scene from TFA. :)

Does raise a question: What would BB-8 crew's ability be?

Good point, BB-8 as a crewmember. I do not see him as a repair droid... Perhaps help doing crazy fly

... same old stuff again.

Be positive my friends. This is a positive topic, if Rey can "tractor beam" into X wing some female players, it will not be bad.

But I understood that certain curves over the mat can be disturbing to dome of us.

Whisper and Echo and Howlrunner and Nera and Ibitsam and Miranda and Manaroo and Drea and so on are all supposed to be female but noone gives a hoot about them :(

They're all cool, but none of them have any (identifiable) screen time in the films which I think makes the difference.

They might be unseen, but they are not forgotten.

They are, sadly, only female if you already know they are. Each of the females in X-wing so far makes either an unnamed appearance is the OT or none at all. Some are obscure even by EU standards!

A recognisable, named female pilot (with high skill and a badass ability) can only be a good thing. FFG designers and the x-wing community have a responsibility to promote equality throughout the game. The inclusion of Rey in the first post-TFA-release box is a positive step (I'm looking at you, Hasbro).

I read the title in a Humphrey Bogart voice. Wich totally changes the message.

Yea! Yah see? Yah see there?

You and me both, Admiral! Also, great job staying positive guys! Inclusion is great for the game and crucial to being a more welcoming community that people want to be a part of.

Now if we can only get a Leia pilot card... FFG has read Shattered Empire, right? She's not such a bad pilot herself.

Echo isn't, but that's an argument for a different thread.

And you neglected to mention Kath, Serissu, Laetin, and Ryad :P
