3 popular canon Prequel-Era ships you never heard of

By patox, in X-Wing

Tonight, while watching the Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises animated shorts, there was a scene with 2 pretty cool Prequel-era ships that are now operating half a century later during the time of the Force Awakens.

Even though the animated short are not canon, these ships are Canon and they don’t look out of place in a different time era.

There’s even a ship in there that no one seems to have ever mentioned before.

The SS-54 Assault Ship. A ship that no one’s brought up but popular enough to make into a Lego set. It’s canon and it's rad.

I did some digging in the Lego catalog to see if there are any other canon nuggets and came up with 2 other ships that get mentioned ever now and then here, but don’t get the attention they deserve. 2 more ships that were popular enough to become Lego sets. The HH-87 Starhopper and G9 Rigger freighter.

These 3 ships are prequel-era ships that can definitely fit in with the Galactic Civil War Era and would be awesome to see on the 3x3.

So to answer all those other threads about the possibility of Prequel-era ships, if it’s these ships, yes, definitely, yes.

Good god, they're hideous... that last one in particular looks like it was drawn by a 4 year old who got bored half way through, and left.

Bad news, but...of all of those, that's the most likely to get in the game.

It was the class of Anakin's "personal" ship during the Clone Wars, the Twilight, and he had it for a good long run. Ahsoka even flew it, IIRC, and R2-D2 was onboard at various points...

Yeah, it's pretty much as canon as canon gets.

The first one could grow on me, based solely on the idea that it reminds me of an Osprey, but goddamnit that last one redefines the word ugly. It actually hurts to look at.

Popular ships you've never heard of? Isn't that a contradiction?

I love the first one which also is the only one I didn't know. Looks pretty nice.

Know and dislike the other two.

More like "Un-popular, ugly ships, you may have seen in Clone Wars or elsewhere"

seen them all before actually. but I surf for SW stuff regularly.. kinda refreshing that they were in a lego movie lol.. I do love the look of the SS-54.. I wanted to use it in an RPG years ago..

Wedge Antilles pilots a HH-87 Starhopper in Star Wars: Aftermath.

@ugliness

Come on, we have E-wings, Mist Hunter and Jumpmasters in this game :P

And I shall call it: the One-and-a-Half-Wing.

I personally prefer the Auzituck over the SS-54 but they are similar ships...

I've seen all of these before, the first and third being in the Clone Wars Cartoons. The second one has been mentioned several times on these forums I believe. I really really like the look of the SS-54 Assault Ship. I loved it the moment it showed up in Clone Wars, just has a very Bounty Hunter kinda look :) The last one on the contrary is probably one of the ugliest designs I have seen and it being piloted by Anakin is a bit of a shame... Great finds anyway, thanks for sharing!

I love The Clone Wars show. I hate The Twilight. The first one could fit since it was just a bounty hunter ship, much like Jango's ship of the same Era which is obviously in the game during the civil war period. The second one could also be another scum fighter for the hutts.

Also to be super hipster, in regards to your title, I had totally heard of all of these ships a long time ago. :P

If any ships were to be pulled from that era, scum, or non-military ships seem most likely as their owners tend to keep them running for much longer. There were YV-666s in TCW as well as Slave 1. Bounty Hunters take care of their ships apparently.

they'd all be right at home in S&V

except the half finished b-wing; what's up with that?

And I shall call it: the One-and-a-Half-Wing.

This one was found by Anakin in the Clone Wars animated movie. It was in a few episodes of the Clone Wars tv show before it was blown up. It was old in those days.

It's funny that people think FFG will run out of ship ideas. As someone who plays the FFG Star Wars RPG (Edge of the Empire and the others) there are literally a ton of ships in those books. And I have personally used the ships in this thread in my games.

I like the first one, the crew of it was from some pretty good TCW episodes, but good God don't even bring up the Twilight. People complained about the K-wing, but this is the true ugliest ship of SW.

It's like... Slave II... But somehow worse..?

Don't slander the Slave II by bringing it down to the level of the Twilight! Even the Pursuer Enforcer doesn't deserve that level of hate!

Hey! That's my line!

I have this Lego set and it is indeed awesome.

How can they be popular if We have never heard of them? Oh, and except for the first one, they are awful. that is all.

I'd rather have sweet non-canon ships than stupid canon ones.

Also, **** prequels acquire taste.

The third one looks the most like a Star Wars ship, honestly.

The third one looks the most like a Star Wars ship, honestly.

It's also dumbest looking.

I like the first, wouldn't mind the 2nd one I guess, but the 3rd one is just dumb. It ranks higher on the dumb list then Gunboats, Scimitars, Missile Boats, and T-70s do.
