Well maybe as a sub faction we could get some of the prequel stuff. I would like to see more prequel ships at some point.
Clone Wars ships: A fourth faction?
Wouldn't mind seeing a few of the better designs pop up as S&V but we don't need a 4th faction.
Yes, it totally wouldn't sell, because people only buy the ships they know and love, so while they gladly pay for TIE Phantom, K-wing, JumpMaster 5000, G3-A Interceptor, VT-49 Decimator, ships from the goddamn movies won't be selling well.It wouldn't sell very well, but there are certainly some Separatist or Trade Federation remnants lurking out there somewhere.
Sorry but I hate people with this attitude. I am a huge fan of the EU, so these ships are just as iconic to me as the X-wing or Y-wing. Sorry that you didn't read books and play videogames, but these ships are just as much a part of my childhood as X-wings and TIEs. I would much rather buy all of these ships over anything from the prequels.
Read my post again.
And just FYI, there was no ship added to this game that I didn't know from other media, except for the Raider.
I'm an OT guy, but you got to admit there are some beautiful ships in the prequels.
I'm all for it. I would certainly prefer them to rereleased ships that we are suddenly flooded with.
Fanblade Fighter, Arc-170, fully armored Ywings, Jedi Starfighter all have paces in this game and with some subfactioning they could be great.
6 point Naboo Starfighter
1 red die
2 green die
2 hull
There has to be someone who wants to play with 16 ships on the board.

No sir I do not.

A N1 would be 12 points at a minimum. Probably more like 13-15. It would have an attack of 2 not 1. It would have at least one shield. Also astromech and torpedo slots. Possibly a barrel roll.

Of course YOU can't.
He's not a salty OT snob like us.
There's still time for you to teach him right from wrong. Don't give up on your child so easily. He's not a salty OT snob like us.
Yeah don't be a dead beat dad.
I'm glad that I live in a day in which Rebels and TFA are around as much better alternatives to the prequels. It makes steering my kids in the correct direction much easier.
Here are the factions.
Key
- Original faction ,
- Added Current faction ,
- possible future factions.
- Imperial (bluish) ,
- Rebel (reddish) ,
- Other ,
- Light Side (Bright/opaque)
- Dark Side (Shade)
- Neutral .(greyish)
Factions (in order of entry into X-wing)
-
Galactic Empire
(Someone had to be first
)
- Rebel Alliance
- Scum & Villainy
- 1 st Order
-
Resistance
(there was no resistance until there was a 1
st
Order
)
- Galactic Republic
- Confederate of Independent Systems
As you see (not thanks to the prequels) the political spectrum {Imperial, Rebel} vary from the theological spectrum {light, dark} . Even the TFA has some odd questions of the political alignment of the 1
st
Order as they are closer to the imperial mindset yet they declare themselves the enemies of the New Republic (another possible future faction) even though the republic is closer to imperial side than the 1
st
Order as the 1
st
Order are essentially exiles. Well maybe someone can add two more factions from the ones already mentioned and we can get a full 9 order alignment chart {Lawful = Imperial, Chaos = Rebel, Good =Light, Dark = Evil} (Jedi and Sith from the Old republic
. I think we can safely say New Republic and Vong is out of the question.
)
If Clone Wars ships ever get added, my guess is the easiest way would be to just not try to translate the factions into the OT and TFA eras. Have Galactic Republic and Confederacy be flat-out seperate factions rather than sub-factions like First Order and Resistance.
Personally, I'd buy ARC-170, Vulture Droid, and "original" Y-wing miniatures just for display purposes.

I think it would be the best approach, if people are concerned about fluff, Republic vs Alliance is really not more stupid than mirror matches or Poe flying alongside Miranda (alt universe) and Biggs (dead for 35 years).
I've seen Biggs rationalised with "the character is actually Gavin Darklighter":

Then rationalizing Vander (Gold Leader) or Dreis (Red Leader).
PS 10 Jar Jar with Sith powers or nothing.
His special ability will be: When a ship makes an attack against you, roll 1 red die. On a hit or crit, that attack must resolve against an enemy ship within 1.
Also his ship has a crew slot for Palpatine and the faq says Palpatine can go on it.

Garik “Face” Loran, “Wraith One” – represented by Jake Farrell
Gara Petothel/Lara Notsil, “Wraith Two” – represented by Tarn Mison
Myn Donos, “Wraith Three” – represented by Biggs Darklighter
Kell Tainer, “Wraith Five” – represented by Garven Dreis
Flight Officer Voort “Piggy” saBinring, “Wraith 8” – represented by Jek Porkins
That's not really any kind of rationalization, just "let's pretend he's another pilot that is not in game".
I feel like I've been misinterpreted. I don't want prequel trilogy stuff. The prequels are utter garbage and should be erased from existence. I'm talking of Star Wars: The Clone Wars . Which is the best, most adult product ever appeared as non-interactive visual media under the Star Wars franchise, right after The Empire Strikes Back . It just happens to be set in the same era as the prequels.
And I don't even particularly want those ships, although I like the idea of playing with Obi-Wan or Plo Koon or Ahsoka. I'm saying there's a good chance that in 2020 or whenever, FFG will have to go there, because they'll still need to come up with 6-8 new ships per year, the sequels will provide way less opportunities for that than people seem to think, and corporate interests won't push to incorporate EU stuff that's not an active property anymore, whereas they still sell ancillary products with Clone Wars characters attached. And in that case, the only way to make it work in-game is to create a new faction for the Republic.
