The Internet at large never ceases to surprise me. I had no idea that there would be so much angst against a seemingly harmless release. It is what it is though, and I support everyone's right to chime in. Topics like this one, that attack that right to express opinions are the only thing I wish could be censored. Well, that and all the post that make things personal instead of adding something relevant to the discussion.

I look forward to Heroes of the Resistance, but it has be illuminating to see why others don't share that opinion.

I'm inclined to agree. I don't have as much of a problem with Han and Chewie, as they are moving to a new subfaction, even if it does cause some confusion. Poe's pilot skill change I actively dislike. He didn't need it, it's needlessly confusing, and it sets a weird precedent. If they needed to include Poe in the pack just because of the paint job then they should have just gone with a straight up reprint with alt art or something.

Of course if they wanted to re-release a bunch of Interceptor pilots with corrected stats and abilities that would be an entirely different matter...

I'm in the same boat. I'm somewhat afraid that future Aces packs, instead of maybe containing clever fixes like the Advanced or Defender might just contain the old pilots with slight adjustments.

Hell, even Han and Chewie I can see some good reason for (the possibility of separating Resistance from Rebels in the future; this way, if they do that, you have Rebel Han&Chewie and Resistance Han&Chewie).

But Poe, I don't get. Not only I see little added in having a PS8 Poe and a PS9 Poe, but also I'm not really buying 'best pilot in the galaxy' argument. Nobody in the TFA timeline is above PS8 (and PS8 is just Omega Leader and Rey). He already was the best in TFA at PS8, and best in TFA doesn't necessarily imply better than the OT/EU pilots he never had a chance to measure against. also, given FFGs usual development cycle length, doesn't this mean they already had the PS9 Poe in development before even the official launch of PS8 Poe ? An alt art of the existing PS8 Poe would have been a much better call in my opinion.

There has always been a dichotomy of theme vs the game.

This is a thematic expansion, which they have released before in the form of the epic expansions but this is the first thematic standard expansion. And what I mean, is that the theme of the pack was a stronger driving force compared to the gameplay elements. This is in contrast to the other repaint packs where it is very much opposite (The main wave releases tend to be balanced in theme vs gameplay).

People who play the game primarily for the game first and theme second are obviously going to be irked. But there are also those that play the game primarily for the theme and are probably exstatic that the pilots from the movie are going to be in the game.

So, yeah, i just chalk it up to a thematic expansion that we all knew was coming. Yes, I would have preferred an ewing/xwing fix first, but really, once we get this pack in hand, we probably will still be just as excited.
