Bombad Bombardiers OOC

Also, is this going to be a sandbox-style game, or a GM Directed one?

Yes and no, I'll come up with some events and encounters to kick things off, but when you guys inevitably have cool ideas I'll write those in and build on them. I'm all for letting characters shine at what they do best, be the Heroes, and telling fun cinematic stories. I definitely don't get all in a huff when things go off the rails so to speak, so yes and no if that makes sense.

I have a LARP event this weekend. Yes I'm that kind of nerd. So if I don't get to my character today (not likely), I wont be able to until the beginning of next week. I'm sorry.

No stress, no time pressure to start at all. I have some writing to get done myself anyway so I doubt I'll be really ready until mid next week. We can all keep talking character stories here and I'll likely post up more details on known NPC's as well.

I definitely like the idea that the Emperor wanted a pristine planet for his old home, getting rid of the filth, and the selfishness of the humans saw it as their right to do it.

Yet to spend 50 'Padawan' bonus XP and credits.

Also, do you have any suggestions on the name of my character?

E=MC Squared. :P

Also, don't mean to be offensive, but you might want to spread that XP around a bit.

Nice character! Very focused, I typically go for a 4, a 3 and 2 2's. But that's fine it's what droids are for. You should definitely spend some of the 50xp on skill ranks in things your deficient in; Vigilance, ranged light and even in athletics

E=MC Squared. :P

Well, that was not intended when I made the 'name' in 2014 for another robot character, so that similarity is rather incidental.

Also, don't mean to be offensive, but you might want to spread that XP around a bit.

I am rather tor on the issue, actually. The distributions of stats that I have in mind are 1/1/4/4/1/1 (the one you see), 1/1/4/3/2/2, and 1/2/4/3/1/2, the latter of which is, I feel, less justified. I guess, I will change it to 1/1/4/3/2/2.

Don't change if you don't want to, cybernetics can make up some of the deficit, and its fitting to the character to be smart and cunning. If you did change it i think a SBD would naturally have a stronger and more agile chassis, then with the programming changes 2,2,4,3,1,1 would fit well. But its your character, what do you really want them to do? obviously be great at intellect stuff, but is deception/perception/skulduggery/streetwise/survival as important? if so stick to 2x4. What do you actually want to play?

My reasoning for the attributes goes as follows.

Brawn and agility: the chassis are well armoured, yet very old and are in a poor condition. Beside that, some of the armour is not there anymore, due to the space being used for hidden compartments. Its programming does not support combat functions, so its combat skills are lacking.
Cunning: actually, now I think that the 4 in this attribute seems unwarranted, at least not without a bump in presence. My idea was that the droid has rather unusual combination of chassis and role, so it would be able to confuse some due to that. I would mainly use it for deception, perception, and skulduggery checks.
Willpower: the skills that are tied to this attribute seem to not be what the character would be good at, aside from, probably, coercion.
Presence: I should probably get this to 2 to justify high Cunning. Although the character is not diplomatically minded, he does understand that he should utilise his skills with some subtlety.

Concerning what I want to play, you almost summed it up in the old version of the first post here. A droid that would make (if allowed) and use explosives, as well as other non-combat means to kill people and destroy what would be needed to destroy. The attribute distribution is not very important to me in this case.

So Mechanics is the important skill, and Ranged Light is probably important then too, since thats how you throw grenades :P

but sounds like your onto a solid concept there.

As a bit of a feeder to your back story, if you need it, there are droids inside the Processing Plant, used for the "extremely" hazardous tasks and also for bulk lifting where necessary. Due to the severe lack of care from the Humans the Gungans do a lot more hazardous work than would normally occur, but some tasks simply cant be performed by living beings. The Gungans that show ability are generally tasked with maintaining them, although their numbers are limited and they are fighting a loosing battle. As a result any droids that can be repurposed for maintenance are...

Work for you?

Well, there are also explosives introduced in Dangerous Covenants, which are, if memory serves, generally not thrown but set. As for grenades, I will let my allies throw them.

I believe so.

Oh cool. Oh boy do I know all about the demo charges! and if grenades are not your thing that's cool, makes things easier. The explosives are in AoR core as well

I don't mind filling an empty seat, Gungan sounds cool. It would also be my first ever role-playing over forums ;P

Accepted, welcome aboard this crazy train! Do you have any character concept in mind?

A "jar-jar" type maybe, an entertainer build for distractions and silly interactions? I see we lack in social somewhat :P

The Makashi and the Tactician will probably both have high presence, even if they lack talents in social.

My character has some focus in social which I plan to expand on with further EXP

If there was a single skill that this group lack that could be useful it's Stealth, but unfortunately there are very few Specs that combines stealth and social. If you want to stick with the social stuff as well then Thief and Spy Scout are ok, mostly deceptive. Shadow with Influence is also a strong build. Then for 2 Spec builds the Thief/Charmer is the best.

In the end find something you want to play, the campaign will work around it, just try to find something you shine at over everyone else

So... a spy working for the underworld, commonly known as a fool out of his mind, but is a genius social infiltrator.

Actually there is no coercion either

Honestly considering the Gungan natural 3 in Presence in not surprised you all want to be social in some way, it's going to make for a really interesting group, as if it wasn't already!

Now that I think about it, I may eventually move into Charmer. Double Or Nothing, here I come. :D

Any room for Urash Birsa, an Ankura Agitator/Recruit whose ability to extract information ranks somewhere between Jack Bauer and Hans Landa? Earned the nickname "The Last Resort," because his superiors don't approve of his tactics, but know he serves a vital purpose - one that he relishes.
Swap out the pirate gear for military and this guy is pretty much who's waiting to chat with enemies.

But no sweat if you're full.

Unfortunately sonovabith I made a decision earlier that 5 would be the maximum number of players, if someone decides later on to drop out then your next in line.

That's some cool artwork there!

Totally understandable. Let me know if a spot opens up. As for the art, I can't take credit for it, just found it online. My creative skills edge toward the writing and music side of things.

Just writing for me.(This game is a great way to write short stories. ;) )
