Is this card the t-65 "fix"?

By johnboyire, in X-Wing

Considering that there is a SLAM token in this set. I bet this card gives SLAM.

Except that we already know there is another card that is in the set that allows SLAM - the illicit upgrade on the bottom row.

So while you MAY be right, I doubt it, otherwise they'd of put more No-Weapons Fire/SLAM tokens in the set. Then again they may be showing only 1 token and actually release more than that in the box.

I for one hope it isnt SLAM, and is a 1 use boost instead or, a stop maneuver (though that would be odd).

But what I really hope for is that it gives the EVADE action! That would combo really well on T-70s due to the CommsRelay tech upgrade. Though Red Ace would be less unique, though she'd then be able to get evades 2 different ways or even get to use one evade from her action, and one evade from taking shield damage in a turn, could make her quite the tank (though if played right- she can be anyway).

FFG has been having lots of fun with abilities that allow facing changes such as S-loops, T-rolls, etc. Could "prow thrusters" allow some sort of pre or post movement facing change? Like bow thrusters on a ship IRL.

These are the creme de la creme of special abilities.

I got it...

Prow thrusters. Torp slot.

When defending against a secondary weapons attack, if the attacker is inside your firing arc you may reduce the attackers dice by one, to a minimum of one.

Makes X wings better jousters, increases their survivability AND makes them a good choice against Jumpmaster Spam.

Alternatively it could add an evade result when defending against secondary weapons attacks as long as you have them in Arc.

More zero point astro's?

I doubt it becasue there's only one. Unless the card specifically synergizes with a T-65 names pilot?

It seems like the fixes are coming in small doses by making named pilots really good. Hobbie and the Targeting Astro is a great little ship.

I said before that I would like to see a negative cost of 1 point on the T-65 so you can fly 5 rookies, doubt this will do that if there's just one card.

Scum kfighters are 20 points and have a better dial. Why not fly them?

Maybe it's a card that'll allow xwing t-65to shoot Proton Torpedoes without a target lock?

How about a reverse boost? Make it the opposite of EU, after moving you can use an action to boost using the rear guides.

Allows you to move your arc (or slow down using the straight template) but not make you super fast. Would still make for differences between the 65 and 70.

If reverse straight seems like too much just force it to use the 1 bank template to use it at all then.

Replaces torp slot, don't ask me to cost it though, I don't even trust FFG on that one.

I don't know how many times it has to be said: if it can be put on a T-70, its not a T-65 fix.

Doesn't matter how many times you say it, it'll never be true.

IA is a great example of why. IA has a much greater opportunity cost on the T-70 where they have the HP they want anyway and AT's are a go to Mod choice.

Sure some arc dodging ace T-65 pilots (wedge basically) want EU but the ones that don't use get IA for free. This is most certainly part of the larger T-65 fix.

Another part of that is these Astros that are clearly designed to be most effective with a specific T-65 pilot, again they can be used on T-70's (or Eor Y-wing) but work the hardest on specific T-65's.

So sorry, but you are wrong. Just flat out wrong.

Now that I think about it, it could be along the line of give the X-Wing a Barrel Roll at the cost of a torp slot. Or do some movement modify shenanigans (may turn a bank to a turn - giving the X-Wing a virtual 1-turn).
