Hi guys
Looking at running a super guri with my super dengar
How do you build her? Currently thinking of:

Guri is decent against Scouts. But this build is overloaded imho.
Ditch the Torps. Personally prefer Jammers on her, but FCS is never the wrong choice.
Sensor jammer is better the FCS. I had her in range of 4 Y Wings with BTLA4 and TLT and she just laughed at them it also helps againts autoblaster turret Kavil/ghost
Lose the torps. I like FCS fine, though.
I've never made her work very well, but she's not too bad.
Dengar+Guri made top 4 at the Jakku Open:
-dengar + gliterstim, EU, Tactician, R5P8, Predator, punishing one
-Guri +Lone wolf, autothruster, virago, cloaking device and sensor jammer.
Lone Wolf/Virago/Sensor Jammer/Autothrusters (Season to taste with other slots) is the core of my Guri builds. SHe becomes tough on the order of Soontir at that point.
But 4 less pilot skill for 4 more points
Generally Guri is overpriced IMO but she has found a home as Dengars buddy where those few points don't hurt too much as you weren't getting much else for them anyway.
I've been flying and advocating;
StarViper: · Guri (30)
· Lone Wolf (2)
Autothrusters (2)
· Virago (1)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Glitterstim (2)
JumpMaster 5000: · Dengar (33)
Push The Limit (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
K4 Security Droid (3)
· Punishing One (12)
Glitterstim (2)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
I'm having second thoughts on Sensor Jammer though tbh, a couple games where it literally didn't help at all, not even for changing whether they spent a token or not.
I'm giving considerable thought to adv.sensors instead to reposition into a sloop etc. May make her a little more slippery and save more hits from didged ***** than Jammer does?
The build above has a 1pt bid, dropping to adv sensors makes that 2pts. Dropping Stims from Dengar (used as a point filler originally and not great but occasionally useful on a PTL ship) makes 4pts for flavour. You could drop Stims from Guri to make that 6pts but they have been a literal lifesaver on her several times for me now.
Whichever ship the enemy goes after disengages and goes evasive as best they can while the other gets table position. Guri is good at this which is a good thing as, weighing in at so many points and being the easier ship to get shots on, she is usually target no1. she almost always dies but she takes some real time and effort which sees Dengar into end game where he is amazing.
If they do focus Dengar he is brilliant at disengaging while Guri packs enough punch to punish your opponent for ignoring her.
Edited by kopmcgintyTorpedoes on a Starviper are not optimal, since this ship wants Autothrusters and not Chimps.
Also Guri is great with just a few upgrades. FCS or Sensor Jammer, lone wolf/predator/wired, Autothrusters, I would say even just AT and maybe Wired at a minimum and that's a pretty solid build. Oh, Advanced Sensors to get that boost before a Sloop into R1 if that's your thing.
Just no Torps. NO!
Gamblin Guri...
Guri
Virago
Stygium Particle Accelerator
Juke
Sensor Jammer
Cloaking Device
Advanced Proton Torpedos.

Isn't the standard auto blaster with auto corrector which sensor jammer has no effect on? (it's the only time I see auto blasters around here)

correct, yes. SJ prevents rerolling, but does not prevent other mods or cancelling.
However, AB/FCS is probably a better combo overall, being less expensive and a LOT more useful for the primary weapon.
On Guri I wouldn't go anywhere without SJ. But then, I wouldn't go anywhere without Lone Wolf which gives her fairly reliable mods anyway.
Guri w/ VI, FCS, AT, tittle and Adv. Proton Torps. 44 points. 6 dice of murder at R1. Pretty expensive and fragile but hey, glass cannon all the way!

I just want to disagree with this and all the other people who say no to Torpedoes. I say this primarily due to the Flechette Torpedo. It's 2 pts, rolls 3 red dice, and gives a stress for everyone under 5 hull. I've used this quite a bit on a Xizor build and it was instrumental vs. some lists. There are those ships that you just have to stress at times. It's a good way to get a stress in without wasting your normal shot. They also don't get range bonus on defense. You don't need Guidance Chip because even if you miss, they are stressed.
Adv Proton torpedoes on Guri isn't obviously bad in my opinion. You're going to have to get that Target Lock which can be tricky at PS5, but that range 1 shot is deadly. Adv proton torpedoes + a focus token (which you get for free at Range1) has a 98% chance of rolling 5 hits. 5 hits punches through everything at Range1.
6 points is hard to fit though.
I still struggle with the cloaking mechanic, so for me it would be Dead Man's Switch instead. You're gonna get Guri in the thick of things for her ability, and since you have Lone Wolf, you're not planning to have her by any friendlies. That's a perfect setup for Dead Man's Switch.
With the Lone Wolf rerolls, I'd forgo the Fire Control System and pick Sensor Jammer instead.
Guri is decent against Scouts. But this build is overloaded imho.
Where else do you put the points, though? If you've already given Dengar all the toys, the only other choice is taking a fat initiative bid.
Guri is great just a little too expensive. You can build her to your personal taste really, though Autothrusters is a must have.
I like Sensor Jammer in the systems slot, but Adv Sensors and FCS are good options as well.
I don't often take an illicit but ICD, Stims, ID, and HSB all have uses and are all decent.
EPT options are pretty varied I have tried, and liked Predator, Outmaneuver(great with Adv Sensors), Crack Shot, and Lightning Reflexes.
I agree with Heychadwick on Flechette Torpedoes, they are a really great option for 2 points. Doesn't matter if you do damage when you are adding a stress to an already stressed squint, makes them easier to take down next round. Advanced Proton Torpedoes are a points trap; Guri is one of the best ships for them but they are overpriced at 6 points. At range 1 if you have a target lock you already get a free focus on a four dice attack, 6 points for one more die one time doesn't sound like much of a deal. Range 1-2 at 5 points maybe.
Guri is nice but too expensive. SuperDengar is 56pts and for 44 pts you can have decent Bossk (like VI,EU, K4 droid, 4-LOM, Zuckuss) so there is no point trying to overload Guri.
Just looking at the Guri/Dengar lists on here. In terms of initial deployment, would you stick one on either side of the board?

Guri: PTL + Autothrusters
There are other good things she can take, but I think it gets into overkill.
Edited by ToadPhxSquadronBeen a mad day at work so only just got the opportunity to have a look at the response
As a side note my Dengar is - Punishing One, EU, Unhinged, PTL and K4 coming in at 56 points so even a barebones guri at 30 points only leaves space for a Z-95 - not sure if this is better than investing the points in Guri
The reason for Guri was that there are a lot of Contracted Scouts in the local meta and several people have said she is good against them - I ran the list with Bossk at a spring kit over the weekend and I just found he folded a little too quickly for my liking
The torps were originally points filler so I will drop them
I don't currently own a copy of Sensor Jammer but may be able to acquire one before the upcoming open

Comparing Bossk and Guri is pointless though. Any other time I'd say Guri is too expensive but she really does have a place next to Super Dengar.
Bossk may well work too, I do t know as I don't own the YV yet but the two ships would be totally different beasts from each other. Any time I've faced a YV with any type of mobile ship, it's been simple to get behind it, stay behind it and wreck it. An opponent can't do this with Guri though. Target prioritisation is harder as a Dengar partner IMO. A lightly loaded IG works too and I've seen some have joy with a few Headhunters.
All are options to buddy Dengar but despite her poor point "value" Guri gets it done in this type of list IMO.
My favorite Guri build is just Predator + ATs. If you are PS 2 or lower, she's scarier to face than Soontir. Usually if I'm loading up a SV its Xizor for the PS 9 he can become. I still need to try my Dengar + Xizor build, with both of them at PS 9.

Dengar and Xizor together probably wouldn't make a bad pair. If they are within range one of each other, who do you shoot?
Shoot Dengar, get punished. Shoot Xizor, and split your damage (if any gets through). No good choice there.
