Imperial Victory Clarification

By Spidey NZ, in Star Wars: Rebellion

Rebel player had his base in geonosis and the Imperial player obtained loyalty in Ryloth, (directly behind geonosis) the turn ended and he deployed forces to ryloth an AT-AT and a Super star Destroyer.

on the first play of the command phase the Rebel player brought their forces into geonosis from a neighboring system, and then the empire jumped in

Space combat : Super star Destroyer vs Moncalamari cruser and two x wings

Ground combat: AT-AT vs Airspeeder and three rebel troopers and a Ion Cannon.

the space went ok for the rebels, they got 5 damage to the super star destroyer (that Ion cannon is so handy.) but the space battle was the imperial victory.

the ground battle went to the last man. both the AT-AT and airspeeder killed each other, and there was a lone ion cannon on the ground and a Super star destroyer in orbirt.

did the Imperials win the game? the structure is still considered a unit?

they agreed that it wasn't a victory. it just keep the game creeping along for another 45 minutes after that, then ultimately the imperials won

By the rules, you handled this correctly. This should be a VERY rare scenario however.
