looking from the front the detail in the second right side hole looks to be different, also the triangular support struts above the pilot side air lock look to be a bit different. Looking at it critically from just the pictures you posted I can see very small differences. but the changes need to be small as it is the same ship

While you may not want one, no one, including myself gets to decide what most people want. I will however point out as Sithborg has done, that the YT-1300 is 2 years after release one of FFG's best selling packs. So that would suggest that many people would in fact like to have a TFA version.

So while I get the pain of spending $X on something when you don't really want everything that's in it. FFG is going to do what they feel will be best for customer and the company.

Those are generic titles, the Millennium Falcon is unique, so there's no reason to have more than one copy of it.

I meant. alternate YT-1300 titles...so you can, eg, run your old model as the Stellar Envoy with the new MF, or any other 1300 from whatever is now deemed the acceptable period for the game...offering differing abilities, so that you could tailor builds for different strategies...as in the Epic ships.

Exactly [always kinda preferred the Andrasta to Slave 1 !] - old MF is kinda defensive, new one more offensive...others could offer a point cost reduction, maybe, for losing one or two crew [as the pure cargo variant], or an extra crew [as the passenger variant]...alternate secondary weapon loadouts, or maybe add a system slot...

...after all, it is supposed to be one of the most easily customisable ships you can buy

This is such a shameless cash grab. I long for the days when X-Wing was just an independent passion project by FFG, to be played for love of the game in garages and basements rather than posh tournaments. But no, they had to go corporate with this whole thing, like a bunch of sell-outs.

The "At least I still have Attack Wing" makes it pretty clear it's a joke.

In regards to the new sculpt .. I offer a few considerations:

1.Maintenance of molds. There's a lego documentary you can watch on Youtube where they show the research behind and development of Lego sets and bricks. Lego has a team of engineers whose job it is to maintain and clean the molds. I recall them saying that a new mold is about $3000. Given Lego's reputation and the volume (there's a enough Lego on the planet for us all to have 83 bricks) these would be of very high quality.

2. Project Capital: When FFG made the first Falcon mold the popularity of the game was nothing compared to what it is now. FFG is in a much fiscally superior position than when the 1st Falcon was released. They can afford higher quality production.

My point is, whilst at a glance, the Falcon may look the same, I think we'll see a much crisper, sharper model then the previous effort. So in essence, it is a new sculpt ...

Will FFG stay true to the movie props this time around though?

Hang on ... given the vintage of the Falcon .. shouldn't we see Adam West's Batmobile there?

To come out with a "new mold" of a ship that is barely needed in multiples and then nothing but a card for a ship that was BLATANTLY DESIGNED in the films to be run in multiples?
