The return of the Falcon?

By Psalm 112, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Any good ideas for the new Falcon, and will ps9 change Poe builds at all?

I'm not 100% sure about the title. It's really only useful in builds where the Falcon's firing arc matters; only pilot where that's the case at the moment is Rey. Although Rey + new title does look like a pretty sweet combo. Also helps against Autothrusters, although I'm not sure that's enough to justify losing the defensive bonus of the old title.

You could come out of left field and actually try putting missiles on the Falcon; particularly with Rey, it seems like it might work. Here's a thought:

Rey (45)

-Chopper (0)

-Tactician (2)

-Cluster Missiles (4)

-Millennium Falcon [New] (1)

-Engine Upgrade (4)

-Crack Shot (1)

Clocks in at 59 points. No idea if it's competitive or not, but it seems fun enough to be worth giving a try.

Rey (45)

-Tactician (2)

-Gunner (5)

-Millennium Falcon [New] (1)

-Engine Upgrade (4)

-Veteran Instincts

Let them move, get into a place where hopefully you are in Range 2. Hope you roll poorly the first time (or if it's an ace you roll well both times to give them a hard choice), stress, gunner it up (Stress again) and use your re rolls to secure a nice hit.

My thought is this

Rey (45)

- New Millenium Falcon (1)

- Marksmanship (3)

- Ezra Bridger (3)

- Kyle Katarn (3)

- Munitions Failsafe (1)

- Concussion Missiles (4)

On one round, perform the new maneuver by the new title, gain a stress, get boosted by Ezra during the attack. Next round perform a green maneuver, shed a stress, gain a focus from Kyle, perform marksmanship. sometime in there get a target lock so you can use your concussion missiles that should almost get a guaranteed hit with reys rerolls plus the other bonuses. and just in case you don't get that hit there is munitions failsafe so you can try again in a couple turns.

Rey with Kannon makes it like a green S-Loop. Which is pretty nifty.

Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)
Lone Wolf (2)
R5-P9 (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Rey (45)
Outmaneuver (3)
Kyle Katarn (3)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)

So Rey performs a 3 bank. Title triggers, gain a stress and flip, Kanan triggers remove a stress, Kyle triggers, gain a focus. Rey boosts for an outmaneuver shot with Rey's reroll and focus.

Rey (45)

VI (1)

Navigator (3)

Kanan (3)

Engine Upgrade (4)

TFA Title (1)

57pts

VI ensures she goes last, Nav lets her decide if she wants to Nav to a 3 bank and turn 180. Kanan clears her stress, Boost gets her range 1. Her ability is the dice mod. Or drop VI for PTL to boost and focus and not worry about PS8/9.

Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)

Lone Wolf (2)

R5-P9 (3)

Autothrusters (2)

Black One (1)

Trouble with that build is Lone Wolf conflicts with Black One. One wants you to stay close to your buddies, the other wants you to keep your distance.

I was thinking of maybe trying two YT1300s, doing an old school and new school thing. Do Han and Chewie without the title, and Rey and Finn with title. And I think everyone has the realization that Rey and Kanan will be an awesome combo.

If you look closely at the cards, you can see there's a mod or that allows the falcon to equip illicit, and an illicit upgrade that gives you slam. Does this change anything?

It looks like the SLAM illict might be a one-shot, based on the second line of text. With that said, putting inertial dampeners on that Rey & Kanan build could be insane - Kanan has the same interaction with Dampeners as he does with the new title. A green stop maneuver? Even as a one-shot, that seems really really good.

Have they given a possible release date?

Quarter 3 2016 in theory. But the last several releases at least have been a few months late, so more likely winter of next year.

My friend took a wild guess that Finn will be a Gunner type card with a cheap cost (2 or 3 pts) who only allows you to fire in your primary arc. He's probably not right, but I think it's an awesome idea.

and it would fit him being portrayed in the movie. so might be a pretty good guess.

Yea, I think we should expect something that has synergy with Rey's pilot ability - so most likely something that rewards having your target in arc.

I really think Kanan, Katarn, and new title will become standard issue. Consecutive Segnors, double action economy, and no stress? Sign me up.

It's a shame there's no room for C3PO, but I think you're going for offense here anyway. Props to FFG for reviving the Falcon and making it fun to fly again without reliance on turtling.
