Ghost / Autoblaster / Accuracy Corrector Q

By shaner, in X-Wing

Hey folks, I know this has probably been asked a few times...BUT

Can the Ghost (with Shuttle & Phantom) really shoot an autoblaster turret TWICE in one round doing FOUR automatic damage that can't be cancelled??? Really???

That is brutal...That is all.

Thanks for your responses.

Yes really.

can't be canceled by evade results

and yeah, it can. It's actually not that good, though, considering you're flying 60ish points of ship that's only worth 40ish unless you get into range 1

That is how it works, it's fun to watch all those four hit ships squirm around to avoid range one.

Which you can do relatively easily with a large base, boost capable, good dial having, rapidly gaining weight type ship like the ghost

not so easily, I'm afraid, due to the ease aces have of just boost + rolling away

unless you have Zeb

problem with Zeb is he's stupidly worded to not activate at the time when the phantom title would kick in, so you only get half your investment upon block

there's also the small issue of the ghost being made of cheese and crackers and getting shredded by even half competent offense if flown incorrectly

finally, the dial isn't that good. With all those red turns, it certainly isn't something you'd find on a PWT, to say the least.

It's good enought to point at enemy and press throttle down hard. Unless your opponent is fielding all high end aces the ghost maintains the potential to plow across the board from a standing start (with boost) fast enough to catch generics by surprise. Against those aces, it only has to get close once to take out something like a phantom or Fel. Yes, boost and barrel roll will save an ace who can see this coming but if they don't? Have seen several ghost builds like this so far and unless you are actively running away it's very hard to stay out of range one for long. And if you are running away, you're probably not shooting the rest of the opponents list very effectively.

Good alpha strike and focus fire is probably the best defense against suicide ghost tactics that I have seen, with possible sacrificial lamb/blocker.
