I still found Finn to be super likable despite his general cowardice.
Heroes of the Wasted Expansion.
I don't see why anyone would be mad at this. It was an inevitable and frankly necessary addition in order to get more of the named characters from the film into the game. Releasing it closer to the next movie would make little sense, as it would be over a year since we saw these characters flying these ships on-screen. Release it now while the hype is still relatively fresh and people are looking for entry points into the game.
Also, I'm a veteran who owns at least one of every expansion released so far, and I see plenty to be excited about here. New ace-level pilots. New abilities/options for pilots who are already well used in order to create more interesting decisions. Tons of cards that haven't even been spoiled yet which are bound to contain a few gems. And a slick new paint job for the T-70. Okay, so maybe there isn't currently much need to own 2 Falcons, but maybe the cards/pilots in this upgrade will generate reasons to run multiples. A decent generic would certainly be a great start.
I'm perfectly fine with it, personally. I was actually hoping for Force Awakens releases to continue to be announced and released separately from "traditional" X-Wing waves.
I would have like some news for the other factions as well, but I'm content to wait.
He's a scum bag out only for himself, he wasn't even Han solo light.
To be fair, he does jump at the opportunity to be a hero when it involved a slight chance of getting his little-Finn wet.
That's it though isn't it, Han left the empire out of conscience fin left to save his own hide.
He won't kill villagers but has no issue gunning down those he grew up with.
Han you warm to instantly, fin is just an unlikable coward.
Hans a cynic that finds something to believe in again, fins just out to get laid.
...you didn't actually watch the movie, did you?

Then how do I know he didn't kill villagers and did gun down his fellow soldiers while escaping?
Logic fail, I suggest you run a self diagnostic.

I agree, we must have watching different movies.
Han was in it for the money and said so several times. He did come back to save the day and Luke.
But Finn. Finn was a trained Storm Trooper that saw the horrors on the First Order and just couldn't take it. If he was that afraid he could have just stayed and slaughtered the village people too. No problem, no harm. But instead he did the scariest thing he could possibly think of, run and not be apart of the First Order. Flee from his friends, comrades, people and a life he knew.
Sure he was terrified, sure he was running as far away and yes he was protecting his own butt. But like Han only being in it for the money and Finn running away from what he thought was as evil both Han and Finn came back. Both risked their lives and saved others. But comparing the two. Han jumped in at the very last moment to be a hero. Finn risked his life going on a mission to save someone.
Are you sure you saw the same movie?

Edited by Ken at SunrisePretty amazing how whiny this particular community can be. It's worse even than MTG players.
16 posts. Sorry, your judgment upon us is invalid.
1487 posts here, and Cattribal's comment is exactly why I rarely post anymore. This fourm has become a drag to be involved with.
Anyway, I think this is a very cool expansion. For new players you could get this and the other TFA packs and core and you've got an awesome Resistance vs FO experience. Old players get some new tricks for two of the most iconic ships in the game.
A PS9 Poe frees up his EPT for something other than VI, and his title encourages using BB-8 instead of R2 or that other regen droid, which (for me) gets a bit stale if its the only way people are using him. Rey is like Dengar or the U-boat scouts, where you care about your arc even though you're in a PWT ship. And you're getting SLAM and illicits for the Falcon. Idk, it seems pretty good to me.
honestly neither Han nor Finn break the 4th wall and talk to the audience about their inner feelings and motivations. we are interpreting their actions and motivations.
so yes, you are watching different movies.
so many people on this forum think they are the unassailable authority on the current thread with perfect reasoning and understanding, it's fascinating to read.
my personally I wasn't crazy about Finn but I loved Han. Han was a funny scoundrel played an amazing actor, H. Ford. Han, for me, had a complex set of feelings, and I think a lot of people also liked him for his self-confidence.
That's it though isn't it, Han left the empire out of conscience fin left to save his own hide.

You people have ruined my "little-Finn" joke.

Edited by Stu35I love how, even before I clicked this thread, I knew I'd see certain players making the exact complaints I knew they would.
It's not as exciting for me personally as the YV-666, but this is an expansion we all should've seen coming from a mile away. TFA-era Falcon and the alternate paint-job T-70 have been high on the list for a while, as has getting more of the main TFA cast into the game. We're getting:
- A new unique pilot for the YT-1300 in Rey, who has "pulled a Dengar" and is a PWT with a reason to try and actually use her arc
- New abilities for Han and Chewie, giving the old ship even more versatility in list making I'd imagine
- An actual generic YT-1300 that isn't the ORS!!!
- Double Integrated Astromechs! Woo-hoo, I don't have to buy another T-70 expansion just to get one!
- Three new named pilots for the T-70, including Matt Parkman and NEIN NUNB!!! (HUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHUHU!!!)
- A new Falcon title, which seems to emphasize keeping folks in arc rather than lazily circling the table.
- A mess of other new toys that haven't been spoiled yet.
- The admittedly weird Poe, Black One edition, which I guess at least makes an interesting choice when building a squad about which to use. Folks are right: a lot of this is because having Poe's X-Wing without Poe would've been weird, and he probably should've been PS9 to start with. Really the only shaky part of this expansion if you ask me... which you didn't.
Alright, so I'm still more jazzed for Imperial Veterans than this, but it's a solid expansion. I look forward to seeing the rest of the upgrades, and I'm especially excited for the three new T-70 pilots. I'm already pretty fond of "Blue Ace" and Ello Asty (heck, T-70 in general), so I'm eager to know what the new guys (and gal) can do.
But I already have a Falcon.
/sarcasm
I have to say, while new news is good news, this release dissapoints me. A falcon repackage was unavoidable, we needed Rey and Finn and that's cool, Rey is awesome. But putting a T-70 in there with the super imaginative PS9 Poe Dameron? He's both already in the game and already in that ship. He has a place in the meta, why is he in this box?
Because "money grab!"
Maybe next time players who want a Resistance expansion should ask Rebel players for permission. <sarcasm>

I won't be buying it personally , but it makes perfect sense as a release and isn't even taking up any slots for rebels in a "wave" expansion . I don't really see what the problem is seems like an obvious movie tie in that is good for the game and easily avoidable for players if they dont like it.
You kidding?!
Falcon with square dish and black-orange T-70 is exactly what I wanted!!! And double IA?! Not a waste. Just wondering if any of the upgrades are the mythical "fix" for the T-65. Doesn't look like it, so maybe still an X/E-Wing Rebel Vets?
"But it's CALLED X-Wing!" Now they complain about wasted expansions. Cripes.
so you're ok the wave 10 expansion is a falcon with a triangular dish and a b-wing with a spherical cockpit? I pay 40$ I'd like a new ship like the VCX, not a 2nd falcon that I don't need, I'm not going to fly 2 falcons and I already have one.
a cheaper expansion box with 2 small ships (even an x-wing and anything else) and the falcon pilots cards would ahve been fine for me
If a triangle dish falcon and a sphere B-Wing were in a Star Wars movie and both ships kicked ass, yes, I would highly consider it.
I'm just just gonna say this one last time to all the haters about this expansion: BLACK AND ORANGE T-70 BABY!

I'm not super stoked about this expansion, especially about getting another falcon, but it's just what the force awakens has left us with. Official film sources take precedence over EU stuff (especially EU stuff of the obscurity that we are reaching), but the options we have so far are limited. Hopefully the people behind Episode VIII will remember the value of adding more ships to sell toys and merchandise.
Yes, I already painted my own Black One. It just bothered me to keep flying Poe around in the Blue Squadron ship. I also already have a Falcon. On the other hand, I also acknowledge that not everybody has been playing as long, and not everyone has bought the Falcon. Maybe some people got into the game with TFA and want a Falcon that goes with that introduction, including Rey to fly it. We can ask all we want why we should buy a second Falcon just for the new pilots, upgrades, etc., but isn't it more logical than forcing new players to buy two expansions just to be able to fly one ship they want? Imagine being a new player and the only way you can fly a Rey Falcon is to not only buy Heroes of the Resistance, but the old Falcon too.
FFG chose to market this toward the newer players, secure in their knowledge that established players are sufficiently addicted to our plastic space crack that we'll in many cases buy it whether we need the ships or not. We'll still want the new pilots and upgrades.
Imagine being a new player and the only way you can fly a Rey Falcon is to not only buy Heroes of the Resistance, but the old Falcon too.
You mean how it is when you want to start and fly Kath Scarlett and the Binayre Pirates ?

That's wildly different. It's not even close to compare someone who has seen TFA and wants to recreate their version of that when playing with someone who even knows who Kath Scarlet is, let alone Binayre Pirates. I'd also assume someone who liked Kath Scarlet enough to bring her into a post would know how to spell her name, so it could be I'm off-base about the comparison above too. Or not.

That's slightly different. FFG didn't have plans for a scum & villainy faction when they released the firespray originally. They moved her over once they decided to. There's not really another way to do it unfortunately. But they realize most people (not you, clearly) would rather not pay $70 to put Rey in the Falcon.
Those money grubbing bastards bastardly saving us money!
Oh what? Stream is running the other way now? Oh, well then I better leap up on the bandwagon yarr. I guess I'm okay with our new Star Wars heroes being portrayed in X-Wing with a mild rehash of a couple older expacs. Hey, does anyone know any good TFA=NH rip-off jokes? Because if you do PM me them and I'll put them here later. Unless you have two more points to spare and you can afford PS9, then post them yourself first.
Edited by DarkcloakHow do you get 3-slooping falcons?
You can only have one Falcon title.
I meant in the general sense. Plural meaning multiple lists, sort of like "the meta is dominated by Whispers and Poes".
The Falcon in general is not really great at the moment. Sorry if you Didn't know... This title is not enough to change that in any way. Even worse it's not as good as the old title!
Aren't you a cheeky one? The Falcon has always been good, the longest lasting ship to stay in the meta. Han + Jake was a tournament-winning list up until wave 8 was released. Sure, the Rebels are scared to death of Uboats and won't bring Falcons, but given time, it would show up again. Even moreso now that it receives updates.
Your dismissal of the entire pack for competitive play is hilarious though.
I did not say that Rebels are bad, but that they had to change their lists and playstyle afer U-Boats 100%. Basically all their competitive lists up to that point are just gone, but they still won with totally different lists like Crack-As and Ghost.
Just maybe read better next time!
The falcon won basically nothing at all after TLTs too, so that's now nearly a year of competitive abstinence... So having it updated while the meta is full of hard counters is just totally useless in a competitive light.
You know what?
I'm happy with this this expac. It was unexpected. It's cool and will bring in new players or appeal to those who love to play casually.
It has some great pilots, some new upgrades and gives all of us a Black T-70 for those of us without the time, inclination or talent to repaint ships.
Sure, we'd like to see some Scum aces fix or the T-65 get some love. But I reckon that stuff is one the way.
When my daughter (>10yrs) complains about not getting "enough stuff" I tell her:
"It's like being given a chocolate cookie for free: complaining it's not a chocolate and peanut butter cookie is a little ungrateful."

It's more of a casual buy because i don't see this expansion doing anything for game balance and meta.
Here it is, your outrageous statement. Stand by it all you want, it made me lol. Read EVEN BETTER! Especially things you've written yourself.
I thought you were just being silly, but you're just a troll. Bye.
