and then require a $60 rulebook
So, this is the Rebel Veterans, eh?
I'm assuming one of the upgrades there let the YT-1300 take an Illicit, presumably at the cost of a modification - which if that's the case, I doubt it'll be worth it.
Making Poe PS9 is going to make him an unholy terror, though...

[looks at 8 Interceptors, with the temptation to get 4 more]
[looks at likely ending up with 6 Defenders and 7 Bombers]
So, what is the issue?
clearly the issue is not enough games of epic are being played

I don't think this is Rebel Veterans. I think we've always known another Falcon and a Black T-70 was coming. This looks more like a bigger variety of ships for the Resistance faction.
I don't really think PS9 Poe is better after you factor in cost. They were smart enough (or lucky enough) to make his cost increase significant enough to make it an interesting decision.

True. Most Poe lists were sitting right at 100 points usually. With this, you've got to find 1-3 points to sacrifice to give the PS 9 Poe an EPT, even with Adaptability.
The only reason I can really see using the PS 9 Poe is if you really want him at PS 9 (and only 9) with an EPT....or you want him shooting at the same time as Palp-Aces Vader.
Not sure why Poe has the same ability. I mean, it wouldnt make much sense to give him a completely different one but shift the idea around maybe? Change a blank to a hit instead of a focus?
Though like others have said, reprint of the same pilot gives possibilities for old favorites to come back. Jedi Luke comes to mind. I never understood why the force sensitive pilots dont have some sort of auto-evade gimick because they can "see that coming" without seeing it (+1 Agility if outside your firing arc perhaps?)
I really don't get the outrage here.
Did anyone doubt at all that we'd see a new Falcon and black T-70? How is it that everyone is upset about a VERY obvious release?
I don't plan on buying Imperial Veterans, but I didn't throw a ***** fit when FFG announced it. Don't like it? Don't get it. But all this wailing and gnashing of teeth is ludicrous.
I didn't doubt we'd see the cards, but I'd hoped it'd be in a better way than reprinting one of the ships the vast majority of players not only already have, but have no need for more than one of. Something as simple as a pair of alt-colour T70s in a box, along with all the announced cards for the Falcon, would have sorted that in one fell swoop. Same name, same effect on the game, but a better value set for all (not to mention it immediately being cheaper).
It's just a space filler between films so we don't have to deal with un-named uniques again.
Is that Smugglers Compartment card for the YT-1300 & Manaroo or Moralo Eval?
Or something else entirely?

I don't know why everyone is making the assumption that FFG were thinking of veteran players when they made this (though it is quite nice to be getting 7 new pilots, 16 new upgrade cards and more IAs). IMO it's a very safe bet that this is aimed just as much, if not more heavily at newer players and fans of the new movie who are going to be enticed by the TFA Falcon and Poe's personal starfighter, and for them this is pack is a freaking gold mine.
i imagine if my friend didnt just start playing because he has a massive allure to the Falcon, he would be eating this expansion up. Hes kinda tight for cash so very picky on what he buys - bet hes gonna be a little sad once he sees this expansion because he literally just started 3 weeks ago lol.
And i'd rather the expansion not have anything that demands you buy this box, or even multiples of it. Falcon isnt a bad ship even as old as it is, so this feels more like an alternative to me than an expansion. I didnt see a Boost upgrade so thats a rather massive hit making me lean towards the old kit, but thats just 1 card.

I didn't make an assumption really, it was just a hope before the release. Upon seeing the release, their intent was very definitely the newer market. I'm not against that at all. More players means more games played locally, which benefits us all. I just think it could have been done better with a double T70 (Poe's and another alt-colour) pack; it's still friendly to new players, and it has lots to offer existing players.
Being aimed at new players, it does have a lot of value. Some of those upgrade cards in particular, I'm really curious about. It's literally just the physical model I'm a little disappointed in.
I really don't get the outrage here.

I'm personally not upset the expansion exists as an expansion - a repaint of the X-wing and a resculpt (however minor) of the Falcon was inevitable, though I wish they'd made its paintjob grubbier. ![]()
No, what bothers me is that we've now got two PS pilots in the same ship and the same name. And two more pilots with the same ship, PS, and name... but different abilities. And a title that does the same.
No longer will you be able to say to your buddy "Yeah, I'm flying Chewie with Predator, Engine Upgrade and MF Title this weekend" without having to disambiguate both 'chewie' and 'MF title'. It's just messier than I'd like, when the game had been so clean in terms of listbuilding (or perhaps more precisely, the ability to identify the components of a list) previously.
Edited by ReiverI have to say, while new news is good news, this release dissapoints me. A falcon repackage was unavoidable, we needed Rey and Finn and that's cool, Rey is awesome. But putting a T-70 in there with the super imaginative PS9 Poe Dameron? He's both already in the game and already in that ship. He has a place in the meta, why is he in this box?
Because rebels needed to have goddamn s-loop via in-built EPT
and throw up third finger by breaking "two PS9 per faction" quota
and yeah, now poor BatWedge can't even boast better PS than BatPoe
sheeish
I guess this means we'll be getting another imperial ace before long. Which is pretty funny with how many we've picked up recently. ![]()
Wonder if it means we'll see a PS9 starviper pilot now?

I'll think we will see a 1stOrder PS-9 first (pun not intended) ![]()
For us experienced players, i can see this being a bit of a bummer. However, this is a fabulous expansion for newer players!
Why does everybody keep saying this? I have been playing X-wing since Day 1, and I can hardly contain my excitement for this pack!
Is it that people don't see anything here that can fight today's tournament flavor of Triple Contracted Scouts? Is it that they hate PWTs that much? Is it that The Force Awakens was that unappealing to them?
After reading the article I had to watch all the X-wing scenes in TFA just because I am so tickled to see Jess and Snap and Nien make it into the game!
I love how, even before I clicked this thread, I knew I'd see certain players making the exact complaints I knew they would.
It's not as exciting for me personally as the YV-666, but this is an expansion we all should've seen coming from a mile away. TFA-era Falcon and the alternate paint-job T-70 have been high on the list for a while, as has getting more of the main TFA cast into the game. We're getting:
Alright, so I'm still more jazzed for Imperial Veterans than this, but it's a solid expansion. I look forward to seeing the rest of the upgrades, and I'm especially excited for the three new T-70 pilots. I'm already pretty fond of "Blue Ace" and Ello Asty (heck, T-70 in general), so I'm eager to know what the new guys (and gal) can do.
I am just dissapointed, that this is the second in a row expansion they are realeasing with a big ship and a small ship together. This means the price for this is relativerly high. I would have prefered this to be separate (as well as the Ghost) - I do not want to buy two big packs to get 1 extra small ship.
I will, however, add that I am stoked to see actual named T-70's and the only thing I'm miffed about is the real Poe Dameron standing up.

Luckily in this case, you can get that small ship in two other places!
Both shippes were expeced. Unfortunately I would prefer Rebel Veterans instead of Resistence heroes. Why New Poe +2points for +1PS is vaste. Predator or PTL Poe PS9 everywhere.
And there are at least to ships not worth of competetive - T65 + E-Wing both in need of upgrade...
