Heroes of the Wasted Expansion.

By Nyxen, in X-Wing

I was really looking forward to running, 3 T-70s. This is a nice expansion for me as now I do not have to buy two of the same ship. Really like this package, but would love to see something done with the E-Wing, HWK-290 and the YT-2400.

some of us already have Poe's black and orange X-wing

True, and it's a fairly minor thing but... The one in the heroes pack comes with BB-8 modeled on it, rather than the standard astromech.

Except that it's NOT for free and that it means that another a lot more important rebel expansion is pushed further back for this fluffy but probably useless one!

Maybe FFG should setup a poll to decide what we want them to release and in what order? We could also give them suggestions on time frames and cost? Maybe we could even ask them for specific cards?

Or, we can just let them run their wildly successful business and enjoy this fine game they produce?

Nope. As my dad says, some people would complain if they were hanged with a new rope.

funny, my mum was a scouser and said that all the time.

I'm taking the new one apart to re-model it and paint it I'm very excited to try too!

Ditto Dats!

I need me one of these...

:D

I want to know where he got that cockpit! It's a really cool look and I think you could do an almost Ebon hawk look with that.

I completely expected the square rectenna Falcon and the Poe repaint. My cynical Imperial side says how is it that since Imp ships needed revisions they needed to "revise" something Rebel to maintain parity.

That awkward moment when you take issue about 1 pilot card in an upcoming release, only to spawn a multi page discussion about the rest of the expac.

The thread title suggests the entire expansion represents a wasted opportunity; I think you're reaping what you sowed.

"wasted expansion" isnt wasted card dude

Definitely fair statements, I've never claimed to be overly accurate with my choices in phrasing.

Your choices in Phrasing could use more inuendoes in it...

Eventually you'll master your phrasing, then everything you say will be deeper, harder, and all the more meaningful to whomever is receiving you...

It would be funny, if they, now having the "correct" PS 9 on Poe, which a lot of people were talking about all the time, would discontinue the TFA core with the PS8 Poe, and do a new version avoiding the stupid "proxy-names" like Ace, Leader and Novice. Not going to happen though, I guess.

Oh how I'd crow if they did.

What criteria are you using to determine that this expansion is less important than another hypothetical one? It seems like that's an opinion, but maybe you have some objective reasons buried somewhere.

There's no way they're going to please everybody.

Nope. As my dad says, some people would complain if they were hanged with a new rope.

Rebels are at the moment the weakest faction and win the least big tournaments. This has never been the case until now, but giving them a new expansion like this should have pushed their power level for a tiny little bit to be on par with the rest. Instead it is two ships that stand no chance in the current meta. Fluff, yes, but competitive? No! Not from ehat we know at least. Maybe there are some unknown treasures hidden in the cards but from what we know now, nothing substantial.

The most subjective part is that i would indeed have much preferred an E-Wing or X-Wing expansion that would have boosted these ships to competitive level.

But accusing someone of being subjective is not very smart anyway. EVERYONE writes subjective stuff on this forum, except maybe some of the mathwing threads that form an exception.

on x-wing, thread necro is Fel's Wrathing

as for that, we don't know what the expansion actually does

what was spoiled sucks and does nothing for the rebel faction; nothing new for the game AT ALL. It's just more high PS falcons and more poe, both of which got merced in wave 8 (the former of which was merced in wave 7; hopefully never to return)

but there's some hope yet, specifically in all the cool unspoiled T-70 stuff!

I've found Rey to be a hugely different experience to fly against than other Falcon pilots. She packs a lot of punch, defends decently well, and cares about arc a lot. I rate her pretty highly overall, although I've only flown against her rather than putting her on the table myself.

I definitely think it is nice that PS9 Poe exists.

Don't forget, should get some other cool T-70 pilots and a new Tech upgrade. ALL cool things that we can use more of.

woulda been cooler with a mobile arc

to expand on the unspoiled stuff, though

  • PS 3, 6 and 7 T-70s
  • Prow(?) Thrusters
  • Pattern(?) Analyzer (?)
  • Trickshot/Trickster ept
  • Snapshot ept
  • M...unique astromech (wookiepedia doesn't have much apart from M9-G8, which has no defining characteristics:()
  • Finn/Rei crews, which shouldn't be limited to the yt-1300
  • Illicit SLAM for scum :D :D :D (YV/jumpmaster blocking will irritate the hell out of torp scouts)

and Hot...Co?

obviously Hot Copilot

new Poe with one more PS for two more points (which is kinda meh because he is not a super arc dodger like the imps for whom it's a huge deal having more PS)

Poe could never be a super arc-dodger because he was at PS8, so he couldn't arcdodge PS9 pilots. He was married to VI to bump up his PS. At PS9, you can give him bb8 and PTL and absolutely be an arcdodger.

I saw more falcons at the Tacoma regional than Dash. Falcons are definitely still part of the meta, they've just been knocked from the very top of the pedestal.

Putting both BB8 and PTL on Poe would be a bad idea unless you got a way to remove that stress before he reveals a maneuver.

BB8 happens before you execute the maneuver, which means if he has a stress he cant do it. executing a maneuver removes a stress, not revealing it. Means he'd only do it every other turn at best.

Though it would give use to the Wingman ept. I love bringing Cracken to hand out a free action and i usually just give him VI so he fires first, Wingman would also be good so he could destress Poe. Use PS8 Poe and you can have the Cracken fire first to give him a free action too since his PTL just ate both and he doesnt have a focus (or TL).

no you pTL off of the bb-8 free action and get stressed before performing the green, meaning the green will shed the stress

problem with Poe is when you have to red move, you're locked out of bb-8 AND PTL two turns (one for the red, one for shedding the stress from the red). Every turn you PTL without bb-8 will delay bb8 for a turn

this is why asty is THE PTL bb-8 pilot. Only problem is he's ps 7 :(

Hmm, true. I always forget technically PTL isnt limited to your actual action.

Over the weekend I had the weird experience of Dash Pushing the Limit off the Damaged Sensor Array action...
