Black One hard counters Omega Leader and Vader if he has ATC and doesn't PS vid above the Black One ship.

My Inquisitor, Palp shuttle, VI x7 Engine Upgrade Vessery squad can use electronic baffles to make target locks from the shuttle easymode, so I could just double target lock something for Vessery if I wanted.

Even without target locks, I'm still a beast defensively and offensively. Inquisitor with just a focus is still a beast offensively. With Palpatine and an offensive focus I should be able to max out my 3 and 4 dice attacks anyways.

Black one is a nice bit of tech and well worth the one point in any matchup, and helps you a lot against certain Acewings. FCS ships hate it too. It's not going to change the meta though, even if it becomes super prevalent, Palp Ace players will just stop using Omega Leader and ATC Vader (which they've already largely stopped using).

what they may start using is quickdraw

oh god, quickdraw is just ruinous to poor t-70s. I've seen what cluster missiles do to them, and QD's primary is technically far superior (no need for TLs, can fire before modifiers; range 1 bonus etc.)

It won't change the meta not because it would be bad or overcosted. It would change the meta if all there was to fight would be Omega Leaders and ATC Vaders.

But against what squads will it really help? That's the question...

U-Boats laugh at you because they can easily kill over 1/3 of your list with 2 Torps if lucky. TL not needed and if they need it they get it through agromech and you can't do anything against that...

Whisper/Omega/Palpshuttle. It's decent against this squad because it denies OL effect and Whisper's FCS pretry often. There is however the problem that this squad will easily outlast you because you can't do anything to Whisper unless you bid for 2 with ps9 Poe/Wedge, Take Adaptability on PS9 or just luck out on a few rolls (initiative mainly...). But granted it's kinda useful here

Soontir/Inquisitor/Palpshuttle will plow you under. Initiative is again crucial but he still outlasts you easily. Inquisitor's damage against your ship gets a bit lower, but he is largely unaffected.

So against the 3 top contenders there are a few advantages, but i am not convinced that shield regen is not the way to go anyway, but then again as long as U-Boats stay in the meta you don't have a shot with Poe in any configuration. That's the main reason why it's a wasted expansion!

Unless there really was a hard hard counter in wave 9, this expansion is just not doing anything!

What if we get an upgrade (Pr... Th... Maybe?) that allows you to take a free boost/barrel roll when an enemy acquires a target lock on your ship? That + Black One would be about as hard of a counter as you could get for Uboats.

btw, Snapshot (PS 6 t-70) has something roughly triggering when he executes a

(note, room on the card for it to be "3 or 4-speed", because you can bet your ass they want you to targeting astromech with it)
