MOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR FALCOOON!!!! MOOOOOAAAAAAAARRR T-70!!!!

Let me the first to say, very dissapointed but I am sure there will be plenty of fans did we really need another X wing and Falcon.

Lots of people predicted it but I didn't think it would happen.

Nothing to see here, move on

Umm this Falcon has a rectangle senor array not a round one.

It isn't like they could just release the cards to update some items on the Falcon. I mean its a RECTANGLE sensor array! Clearly a necessary change that needed to be included.

Rebel Illicit slots and Alternate Art cards, pretty nice.

Heh, I'm fine with this becoming the "Lets joke about how ridiculous this new expansion is" thread, the alternate source to the explosion of excitement in the other thread. :D

I'm kinda sad I already own 4 T-70s and 2 Falcons.

and I REALLY hope there's nothing in this box that even TEMPTS me to buy 2 of them. I'll cry.

Ya, this is the biggest bummer for veteran players. I have 2 Falcons, but one is unopened. For SURE trying to sell that thing now.

Now I'll never be able to trade my extra Falcon...

I always though illicit was supposed to be a unique flavor exclusive to scum. Why give it to rebels too?

It looks like it will be exclusive to only the smuggler ships, but lots of things were exclusive until later expansions.

Torpedoes were exclusive to Rebels for a wave. Bombs and Cannons were exclusive to Imperials at one time. Cloaking Device was exclusive to Imperials for a while. Imperials still don't have turret secondaries.

The Decimator is the only Imperial ship that can shoot outside of firing arc. (Besides the Gozanti)

There have been 8 waves, and there are 8 different Rebel ships that can fire out of Arc. (9 if you include the CR90)

Everyone's all "what so many duplicates"

The only duplicate pilots in this expansion are the generic t-70's

honestly, the expac isn't (probably) as bad as the preview was

look at all the things in it:

  • 3 new T-70 pilots
  • new unique Astromech
  • 3 new (well, 2 old but with different abilities; ergo new) YT-1300 pilots
  • illicit SLAM
  • rebel illicit upgrade
  • Finn Crew
  • Rey Crew
  • FOUR completely unknown upgrades (pr thrus...ters? trick something and snap shot and Hot something)
  • new tech!

and what do they spoil?

Poe, who is exactly the same +1 PS

Rey falcon

two boring ass titles that highly favor the high PS pilots, which are all either ship in the expansion already uses

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

5 more expansions coming soon!

Imp vets is no. 52 this is no. 57 (and no the dial upgrades/pegs are not 53-56)

It feels like an errata when they reprint existing pilots with minor adjustments.

Maybe they'll print new TIE Advanced that can't take the x1 title, but in exchange:

TIE Fighter's dial, 3 dice primaries, the system slot, and 3 points cheaper.

FFG waves their hand.

"This is not the expansion you are looking for."

I'm mostly peturbed by Poe being PS9 and PS8 in the same ship and the same ability. Yes, it's disney's fault for being so strict on pre-movie info that the devs got stuff wrong, but this is a really... hacky way to fix it, especially with a title card, y'know, right there.

Then we have Chewie and Han are promised to be the same PS in the same ship but with different abilities.

When we first saw pilots in different ships, I was all excited. Now I'm a little peturbed at just what a mess this is going to end up. The ships are still named the same, right? So you can put the Old Falcon title on New Chewie, or something?

So much for "So, I'm flying Chewie with Millenium Falcon, Predator, and Engine Upgrade...".

the old and new falcon titles are yt-1300 only

new chewie and han are flying yt-1300s and can have either title. Both titles are unique and share the same name, however, so you can't fly them both in the same squad

both new and old chewie/han are unique (They have a dote in front of their name). You cannot fly new and old chewie together and you cannot fly new and old han together (or with their crew upgrade counterparts). You can fly rebel chewie with resistance han and vice versa

there is no room for confusion

On the contrary: The example of "Chewie with Millenium Falcon" now represents four different build combinations:

OldChewie + OldTitle

OldChewie + NewTitle

NewChewie + OldTitle

NewChewie + OldTitle

Sure, I can look at the card and check which one someone means. Or maybe veterans will get good at a standard nomenclature and it won't be a problem for long. But never have we had the same name in the same slot [including 'pilot' here] have differing abilities, and while I realise the designers can do what they want, I'm kind of horrified that this, of all things, is a design rule they elected to deliberately break.

So you don't look at the opponent's squad?

I just realized the headache this will create for tournaments. You are going to have to make certain that every player taking any of these cards (Han, Chewie, MF title, Poe) is crystal clear on which version of the pilot/title they are using when they turn in their squad. If tourney organizers are lax about this, I can see a dirty player flying Chewbacca + MF title w/ Poe support, and then, after taking a peek at his opponent's list, he just pulls out the better of the 2 choices for each for the match up.

Different point costs could keep this from happening, but the MF titles are both 1, so, at least with that, it's an issue worth noting.

Tournaments, listbuilding, and casual discussions all just got that little bit harder to keep track of. I think that's why it annoys me so much.

On a related note. I assume that it would be tournament legal to filed the two different YT-1300 models while using two pilots from a single set.

Absolutely. They're both YT-1300s so you're free to field whichever one you think looks better / have on hand.
FFG's relaxing of the model modification rules make more sense now, actually. Opened the door for them to do something like this.
