The article says:

"...a new version of the Millennium Falcon with a sculpt and paint scheme that have been updated to reflect the ship's appearance in The Force Awakens."

And

"First of all, you might notice the ship's new, rectangular sensor array. While this is likely the first change you may notice in the difference between the sculpts, it is not the only one. Heroes of the Resistance introduces a new sculpt and paint scheme for the Falcon that faithfully represent all the changes that the ship underwent between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens."

I literally cannot see any differences yet, other than the dish.

Because why fix the already underwhelming scum FACTION, when we can fix a ship that had huge glory days and cave to the incessant whining that Poe is "only" PS 8? Why not give away scum's unique upgrade while we are at it?

Why even create the scum faction? If it werent for the contracted scout slipping past your apparently lack luster playtesting, one might think ffg just didnt care. oh wait, they dont

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I think to call Scum "underwhelming" is a gross mis-characterisation. Scum has some great builds and variety of ships.

Brobots and U-boats.

Scum have the ship almost unanimously decided as Worst in Game in the Scyk. They have the second most underwhelming ship in the game in the Starviper (second only to the titular X-Wing). Look at the Regionals from all over. Its Brobots or U-Boats.

Khiraxz suffer from X-Wing syndrome. G1As from B-Wing syndrome, but dont even have the innate Barrel Roll.

I want to love scum, I do. It's the faction that made me start playing X-Wing.

My question is:

Obviously old Han, Chewie, Poe are still viable options (in that we can still fly them if we want). So how do we differentiate between them? I mean, Maarek is in 2 different ships so we can call him Dfndr Maarek or Adv Maarek .. But Han, Chewie and Poe are in the same ships.

Would Han and Chewie become OT Han and TFA Han and likewise for his furry companion?

Does Poe become PS8 Poe and PS9 Poe?

Also, I just bought a new T-70 (my 3rd) to re-paint black and get another IA card .. silly me.

It's another case of really needing the pilot cards on the table. Which you should pretty much always do anyway.

Rebel Han/Chewie versus Resistance Han/Chewie.

Not sure for Poe, though.

Well, to be fair, the x-wing also suffers from x-wing syndrome, and the B-Wing has some B-wing problems. The viper is at least OK-ish. YV-666 is really good and the firespay is pretty hot. GiAs have now placed top 2 in two regionals i think.

They do need a solid arc-dodging small ship ace. But they are still in a pretty good state imho.

Can a Red Veteran with VI equip the 'Black One' title?

I think game balance is hard to do when you have canon or other input that displays the skill of the pilot in "combat". We all get ideas of how things "should be" but the balance has to justify the cost. Honestly should Han really be a PS9? Probably not... he wasnt that great of a pilot... but it was done for some reason.

The odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field are 3,720 to 1.....

I'd say thats a **** good pilot

I hope the $%¥@ boat sinks.

What's different? Other than the dish, I sure hope they didn't make a new mold...

the difference is in your wallet getting lighter and their profit higher, selling a bigger expansion box where they don't have to design a new ship. I'm sure they use the same mold of the old falcon, but they have a new mold for the radar dish so, in lawyer/PR language, they have "a new sculpt" for the falcon.

Exactly! Take a look at those faction logos -- the new YT pilots are RESISTANCE. Looks to me like FFG is continuing to lay the groundwork for a Resistance & FO faction split in the (waaaay) future.

At that point, we're back to same pilot, different ability, different faction. Like Boba Fett.

Aside from Poe, which is just plain clunky.

I hope the $%¥@ boat sinks.

That's the attitude! Let's hope for a financial blow to FFG, as well as a massive manufacturing delay that will push back delivery of everything else they have planned for the next 12 months. That will show them not to produce anything that a handful of people online might not like!

Considering how they talked about how hard it was to come to the "right" Falcon model for the original, I would not be surprised if there are subtle differences that we won't be able to see until it is in our hands.

Cross-ship/Cross-faction breakdown:

Same ship, different faction (Boba, Kath, Han, Chewie)=same PS, different ability

Different ship, Same faction (Hera, Stele) = same PS, Same ability

Same ship, same faction (Poe) = different PS, same ability

Different ship, different faction (???)= ??? (Different PS, different ability?)

Also, PS 8 31 point Poe should be renamed Joe Dameron. Just saying.

Umm. What? T-65 X wing needs help, e wing needs help. So let's give two perfectly okay ships some help, and reuse old pilots. X wing seems to be turning way more corporate.

FFG marketing team:

"Hey guys, apparently making stuff from the new movie makes more money than trying to make a better game!"

"But what about the hardcore people who buy it for the game and not for the minis?"

"F*** them!"

You know they're not done with the game yet, right? Hell, they're not even done announcing stuff yet.

And if making stuff from the movie makes more money (ie, more people want to buy it), then shouldn't FFG try to accommodate the desires of those people, instead of the fewer hardcore people who are dying to fly a bunch of E-Wings?

I know. But I'm really not a big fan of of Star Wars itself. I just want to see cool stuff. A complete redo of Poe ain't cool.

Oh lord, I just realized how annoying Rey could be with Threepio.

Has Focus. Range 3 shot. Rolls defense, guesses 0. Rolls blank and focus. Adds Evade result. Rerolls blank. Evade. Spend Focus. 3 Evade results....

Rey is a mechanic, who has been scavenging in starships her entire life having to know exactly how they work and YES had never flown a starship before.

However all of these people have one thing in common: The Force. It is canon that one of the features of the Force is quick-reflexes and better-than-expected pilot ability. Her pilot skill matches Luke Skywalker who was also a force-driven pilot whose only REAL spacebound action was The Battle of Yavin. So it actually feels 100% acceptable for Rey to be PS8.

Rey had also spent most nights entertaining herself by using the flight sim software in a Y-Wing cockpit she scavenged. Yes. That's canon.

All these haters. If you don't want it don't buy it.

Personally it is a must buy for me. I love t-70s I love the black one model, and I'm excited to have the absolute coolest ship in Star Wars have some new life.

Can't wait until 3rd quarter (whenever that is)!

I said a procession of great crew and astromechs.

Apologies then, my brain separated that into a separate precession for each.

I still maintain our mech selection is mostly crappy, our scum only ship selection is laughable, and now our illicit slot is no longer unique to us. And the only thing scum gets out of it is access to a seeming one-time SLAM.

woo *finger twirl*

meanwhile one of the best pilots in the game gets inarguably better for no real reason

it was obvious to anyone who watched TFA Poe needed to be PS9.
Because movie performance is always 100% indicative of game performance. It's why Hera is PS7, right? Not like she's a top tier pilot in SW canon or anything. I guess I can look forward to Rebel Prototypes, where we get a PS 9 Hera in a B-Wing?

Poe was described as "the best pilot in the galaxy". That's not really PS8.

Fluff =/= game mechanics

if the game is completely disconnected from fluff why are Soontir Fel and Wedge Antilles PS9? Why have named pilots at all?

Rey's abilitx is so-so. With an expensive falcon you have to play like an arc-dodger most of the time, so you wont get to use her ability that often. The yt1300s jousting efficiency is just no good compared to most other ships, especially not in an ordnance meta. It's more of a bonus than an ability you can rely on. If you've played Dengar a while you know what i mean.

Anyway unless there's something really major coming yt1300s wont return to the meta anyway no matter what abilities the new pilots have, so right now I'm not very excited about this new product.

Nu Poe is using an Advanced Veterans Instinct EPT that raises Ps by one and retains the EPT slot. Worth two points, no?

Well, good thing the Falcon is getting a few Sloops, then.

Also, Falcons are still in the meta. Not the gatekeepers, but they are still doing quite well.

Are you the BKL for the Nu canon?

It's promotional photos so I could be mistaken, but to my eyes it looks like the new Falcon is considerably crisper in it's lines, esp on the sides where all the little bits are. When Games Workshop first moved from metal to plastic models, their first models were rough in detail and sort of clunky, but then they got crisper. Since the Falcon was their first big ship and it had tons of details (That Slave One didn't deal with) then it could be a case of them simply being unhappy with the mold and creating a higher quality one that might feature minor changes.

As far as money goes: I said in when I was playing warhammer and I say it here. It's really easy to NOT buy things. I am yet to feel ripped off from FFG.
