HEROES OF THE RESISTANCE!

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

So if that Smuggling Compartment gives two modifications to Falcons and Outriders, I have three words:

Engine Upgrade

Autothrusters

Here's hoping there's a point cap on what modifications you can take.

I said a procession of great crew and astromechs.

Apologies then, my brain separated that into a separate precession for each.

I still maintain our mech selection is mostly crappy, our scum only ship selection is laughable, and now our illicit slot is no longer unique to us. And the only thing scum gets out of it is access to a seeming one-time SLAM.

woo *finger twirl*

meanwhile one of the best pilots in the game gets inarguably better for no real reason

it was obvious to anyone who watched TFA Poe needed to be PS9.

Because movie performance is always 100% indicative of game performance. It's why Hera is PS7, right? Not like she's a top tier pilot in SW canon or anything. I guess I can look forward to Rebel Prototypes, where we get a PS 9 Hera in a B-Wing?

Poe was described as "the best pilot in the galaxy". That's not really PS8.

Did not expect that. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea though. I want to fly Han but I'm just not that into his current ability.

Yeah, exactly that. Even in the heyday of Fat Han, people were taking him for his PS rather than his ability.

Now he can be PS9 AND have PTL.

Or he can be PS10 or 11. Because you know no one ever takes a boost to PS on PS9 ships...

So now you can take a PS 9/10 Poe for 31-32 points, or a PS9 Poe for 33 and if you have points give him a EPT. This isn't exactly a huge buff he's getting.

I have never said it was a huge buff, but getting a PS boost to the highest starting PS frees up his EPT, which is pretty huge on the table.

Yeah, the biggest winner of a Rebel expansion should the Scum faction, obviously.

You can put words in my mouth all you want. Rebels gained access to IDs, Glitterstim, and Feedback Arrays(Outrider doughnut hole, what Outrider doughnut hole?) (well, DMS and HSB also, but who uses those?). Meanwhile in giving up one our two (formerly) unique upgrade slots, we get crap all for it. They could have at least put some decent illicit options in there.

You mean other than SLAM, a formerly Rebel-only option?

You realize that you have to use a Modification Slot to equip the Smuggling Compartments, right? That is probably why it allows a second.

four words, actually:

Smuggling Compartment

Engine Upgrade

the implication is that SC is a mod itself (can't compete with the title space I guess)

basically, what it's doing by giving you the ability to equip another mod is just stamping the ILLICIT upgrade icon to your YT-1300 for minimal/no cost

a one-time use of one of the weaker actions out there (which prevents you from attacking).

bestill my beating heart

I think game balance is hard to do when you have canon or other input that displays the skill of the pilot in "combat". We all get ideas of how things "should be" but the balance has to justify the cost. Honestly should Han really be a PS9? Probably not... he wasnt that great of a pilot... but it was done for some reason.

You haven't seen SLAAM used correctly, then.

but getting a PS boost to the highest starting PS frees up his EPT, which is pretty huge on the table.

No it really isn't, not when you're looking at a 33 points for a naked T-70. Consider a Scout is only 25 points...

Fluff =/= game mechanics

But Fluff is a consideration especially when you're talking about PS values. There's no doubt in my mind that if FFG had more information, Poe would of been released as a PS9 in the first place.

Double post.

theres also something thematically hilarious about the fact that the Scum faction not getting access to "Smuggler's Compartments". I mean I get that they want to avoid double illicit slo-

holy crap...

they're not limited...

if the price falls under their own threshhold Rebels would be able to get double illicit slots

Why give rebels a different version of the Falcon before giving us a scum version of it?

They should, at least, have added a Scum dial and couple of Scum pilots in there. :(

SLAM is incredible

you can run yourself into enemies, denying them shots

you can sharply position yourself for future turns

you can use it with ASLAM to slap down conners/proxies on poor bastards before they've even activated

so long as the price is right and there isn't a dumbass drawback like the illicit cloaking device, it could be a very solid upgrade

not so much on the yt-1300 though. that ****'s just welded to engine upgrade

What are you flying today?

Falcon with the title.

Which one?

The one with the evade.

Oh, who's on board?

Chewie.

Which one?

The pilot.

Oh. Which Chewie pilot?

New one.

Gotcha. Is that poe too?

Which poe?....

This is gonna get confusing if we keep getting duplicates.

They should, at least, have added a Scum dial and couple of Scum pilots in there. :(

Why in the world would anyone expect to see the Millennium Falcon, one of the Heroes of the Rebellion as a S&V ship?

Also why in the world would they put pilots for a different faction in any expansion? Why should anyone have to pay for pilots they can't use because they're for a faction they have no ships for?

You haven't seen SLAAM used correctly, then.

It being used correctly doesnt make it not a weak action. It has its time and place, sure. But a one-shot use of it? Nah.

The scout isnt a great benchmark, but PS8 with EPT vs PS9 with EPT? I can think of few players not wanting to pay those two points in an age of PS8 Vesserys, Omega Leaders and Inquisitors. Its table effect is greatly worth the two measley points.

Fluff is fluff. Sure, Poe might have been PS9 if they had all the information. But to hear people you would think the current Poe iteration is completely broken and unplayable. He wasnt, and this 'fix' was about as low on the fix priority scale as it is possible to be.

I think you are ignoring that Poe at 9 pays 2 points for that 1 extra PS. 2 points for 1 PS is something many wouldn't pay for.

People complaining about an orange-black T70, having painted an own? Sorry, it was logical that Poe's X-wing coming, just totally too much money in that model!

Some of the T65 fan whining again, at least wait until the

-Pr...Thru(sters?), with a X-Wing pic on it(!)

and the

-unique M9(-G8?) astromech are spoiled. Then can you complain that these are still not enough :P

Disappointed,

that Large ships get slam (haven't they already enough advantages and are stupidly fast?)

that Illicit can be fielded by rebels (where is the competitive edge of Scum now, apart from Scouts and Brobots? Sure wave 8 has fun stuff in it, but most of it is quite complicated to get it to work)

Glad that I so far neither have bought a Falcon or a T70 :)

Depends on which galaxy they are talking about. Now if it was "the best pilot in the universe... that ever existed... and ever will", then that would be something.

which is fine for a regular action that you can take repeatedly.

a one-use shot on a large based only ship, 3/4 of which are 3 attack?

Would you take that over Glitterstim or Inertial Dampeners?

You honestly think a majority of people are going to run the old version over this one? Because I am betting not.

considering they're both scout bait, I'm betting you won't see much of either
