HEROES OF THE RESISTANCE!

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

I can't wait till Life Day when this gets here. Ugh. Me wants now!!!

I'll jump if for no other reason than to support view that people have already said.

While I was hoping for a Rebel's Veteran expansion, which may come yet, I think these model are something that has been expected since the movie came out.

Of course Fantasy Flight (FFG) is trying to tap in the the enthusiasm of the latest movie. But it was the enthusiasm of the original Star Wars that got many of us into the game to being with. For me, I was at a gaming store and saw the Millennium Falcon. I looked at it and said I'm getting this and I might actually play too.

People watching Star Wars for the first time may look at the original Falcon and say, that's not right. Yes we knew that FFG would come out with these two models. But like many of the other expansions, some may not want it, some may only want the cards, some will want it and finally some will feels cheated or otherwise hurt for their own reasons. I understand, more cards, more complexity in the form of "depth" and sometimes good cards in expensive expansions. But we know this is FFG's model and since we knew this two were coming out don't you think you should gotten over our misplaced anger by now?

Just a thought.

Integrated Astromech already covers the Mod slot

Could go in the proton torpedo slot. But in a way a mod could be quite interesting if the ability increases your offense, which I expect it will.

Then you may have to chose between the increased survivability that IA offers vs increased offense.

I like it.

Was more looking forward fix-ish Rebel Veterans, but this is surprisingly good on its own grounds.

I can totally see the reboot attitude of TFA Core calling for fitting Ace Pack.

A Resistance player can pretty much field full 100 pts with the Core and this set, and also gets to choose a couple different flavours. It'll also help newcomers get into solid builds without getting frustrated about picking something and then learning that many of their ships are not even remotely viable, or at least not outside one role/set-up (TLT Y's anyone?).

They've fixed the lack of T-70 pilots with EPT, added some potentially interesting new pilot abilities, rectified the error of not putting any IAs into the Core set and helped the lack of Tech upgrades - all in one move. Very nice, as those were exaclty the issues that stung me the most with TFA set.

Hell, Rey even synergises quite well with Wired, having re-rolls on blanks and eyes.

Definately happy about the announcement, can't wait till the rest of the cards gets spoiled.

Wish you all a lot of fun with these new toys once they arrive.

I think my immediate slightly negative reaction was due to expectations about what was coming, based mostly on the imperial veterans box. Now that I gave it a day, I think this expansion is actually going to be a nice addition to the game. It has a lot of new cards most of which aren't spoiled yet and 2 sweet looking Star Wars ships. It really is going to appeal to new players who watch the new movie in a way the OT and EU stuff never would have.

Still hoping for at least one last hurrah for the older ships, but this looks like a cool expansion and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it revealed.

What if the Snap Shot ability is something that helps all Xwings?

Either an EPT or Modification that is "Xwings or xwing pilots only".

With rules being along the lines of what a few people have suggested: where you reduce your Attack Dice by 1 but you make two shots or remove one evade from the enemy target. Something like stutter fire in the Rogue Squadron and later boo

To truly help the T-65. it's going to need to be a title I think. Integrated Astromech already covers the Mod slot, and putting an auto-include "fix" upgrade in the EPT slot would a)not fix the generics, and b) would severely limit them in list building. "Alright, now that I have the auto include EPT and auto include Mod, lets look at astromechs... Okay! We're done!"

Stop exaggerating. They also have a torpedo slot. :)

My girlfriend and I are two of those new players. After getting sucked into Imperial Assault, we both wanted to try the space battling miniature games from FFL - She wanted X Wing and I wanted Armada, so both are in transit. Galactic Civil War for Armada and all TFA-onwards for X Wing.

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll pick up the two TIE/fos and a T-70 while we wait for this expansion to release.

Have they announced the TIE/SF yet? Surely, that has to be coming too.

Welcome, friend! In spite of this week's hub-bub, you'll find this to be a mostly friendly place... just.... don't take a position on the topic of "intentional draws". Just trust me on this.

Most of us are expecting the Tie/Sf to be a part of wave 9. It is virtually certain, since it is the only other small-base ship TFA gave us. And it would as foolish to not capitalize on this, as it would have been for them to NOT release a Rey-Centric Millenium Falcon.

Well, at least if you got TFA core, T-70 expansion and Heroes you will have three IA for three X-wings, that works out.

Hey, something positive about HOTR!

There is all kinda positive somethings in HOTR!

:D

Yeah, this exactly. My gut reaction to this yesterday was not so much discontent, as just disappointment. It seemed lazy. But then, I think it's just because I think my collection needs an Upsilon Shuttle more than a second YT-1300.

Then I realized, wave 9 is gonna drop when wave 9 drops. Probably on Gandalf time. In the interim, now we're gonna get some more TFA content than they were able to drop on Force Friday.

It's all good. It seems as well-designed as any other X-Wing release.

Black One seems super conditional. How many times will you realistically be right next to your friendly ship that has a target lock at the right time? They could have given it a zero cost pretty reasonably.

It doesn't say "other" friendly ship, so the one carrying the title is always a valid target (within R1 of itself).

Using it on others is just a quirky bonus, the ability it grants is invaluable against OL, Vader, K4 Droids, etc.

Black One seems super conditional.

Poe can use it to remove a TL from his own ship. In fact if he has BB-8 he could quite easily remove 2 TL's.

The card says "a friendly ship at range 1" and that always includes the ship the upgrade is on. So for one point he can either remove one from his ship or one from another ship that's at range 1.

Learning anything yet kid?

range one of a yogurt friendly ship. Like Biggs. Who gets attacked. A lot. And doesn't like having TLs on him.

I cant tell if this is the best autocorrect Ive seen in a long time, or a term I am 100% unfamiliar with.

Too bad the monster in the meta right now is Deadeye packing toilet seats, because Poe Poe would have slapped that crap away with anti-TLs if it wasn't for that pesky PS 3 EPT. I guess Imperial troll lists including Jax and OL will have to save the day. Too bad the timing rules screwed Dark Curse, this was his time to shine.

Except, not really. I would call Imperial Aces as a bit more dominant at this point. Uboats are a gatekeeper, make no doubt, but I am seeing a LOT more Imperial Aces in the top squads than I am U boats.

And you know who is going to HATE Black One? Vader, Inquisitor, Omega Leader, Whisper with FCS. Heck, anything with FCS (looking at you Zuckuss, Iggy, and Ghost). And post Imperial Veterans? Yeah, getting rid of Bomber's and Vessery's teammates' Target Locks is going to be handy.

Kinda, yeah. Because it breaks their previous precedents.

I would have preferred if they'd added a new Elite upgrade instead.

One Hell of a Pilot

Poe Dameron only.

Increase your pilot skill value by 1. Your upgrade bar gains 1 Elite upgrade icon.

2 points.

You mean do exactly the same thing in a clunky, ugly and inelegant manner?

Although now that I think about it more, a better solution would have been to put the +1PS on the Black One title, then make Black One title Poe only and increase it's cost to 3.

The effect and cost are the same, you don't have to add another upgrade card to him, and it kinda makes sense that he's slightly better behind the controls of his personal starfighter.

I have target lock tokens from FFG OP in red and green. No one's ever objected.

I do think it's important that you be able to tell my TL from your TL, but I don't think color is really the defining factor.

Rules lawyers could point at the text on Wes Jansons card (I would not do it, for sure).

Well i m gonna be a big ole fanboy and say what was spoiled looks good to me. I only have 1 1300 so a second doesn't overload my collection. The cards all look good and I think Poe in TFA totally deserves PS9. Shame we couldn't have just had that to begin with but the way they have costed it makes building a Poe very Intereting.

Is it what I expected? Is it two ships desperately in need of help? No to both which lessens the excitement a bit (I'm not ImpVets giddy) true but I can still look forward to it.

I am honestly amazed anyone is surprised we are getting a new Falcon and black T70. The former was always a given and the number of Poe repaints justifies the latter.

Those who are upset with the expansion should vote with their wallets. Less Reys and HeroPoes to face suits me. Let's face it though most will still get it I reckon.

Oh, I don't think many people are angry that we got this or surprised that it came, more that it came before other stuff that's been rumored or expected. It's really -looking at the topics for the past several weeks - everyone (almost everyone) was pumped about what the rebel or scum veteran/aces expansion would do, assuming that the imperial veterans pack meant similar treatment for the other factions. Which may still be the case, and doesn't change the fact we can look forward to this expansion with all kinds of cool tfa stuff in it in the meanwhile.

The good news is that we can all get back to talking about how crappy t65s and khiraxzs are, so it's all good. :)

Yep. I would have much preferred having an extra upgrade card on the table than having to deal with what this new Poe is going to do to the game.

lol
