HEROES OF THE RESISTANCE!

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

It's not like we literally just had a wave landthat gave Scum a ****ing incredible array of crew and pilot options (Dengar! 4LOM & Zuckuss BFFs 4 LYFE! Revenge Bot! Tell Trevor! Dengar again! BOBA ****ING FETT!) and made a Scum list the Feared Gatekeeper That All Lists Must Be Able To Deal With or anything. Nope. It's just been wall-to-wall Scyks and Black Sun Enforcers round here, yes siree! Some people really, really need to simmer the **** down.

Given I mention the Contracted Scout in my post, and brobots in further discussion, please regale me with the lists featuring scum specific ships that so dominated play time.
My point isn't "There Are A Plethora Of Dominating Scum Lists Right Now" (although as others have detailed there are plenty of options that are playable even with your bizarre goalpost-shifting insistence on ignoring the faction's two crown jewels), it's that you're picking a REALLY weird time to be rending your garments and wailing that FFG Don't Care About Scum People given that we're barely weeks removed from a wave landing that hands-down boosted Scum more than any other faction. We're just about to get an Imperial expansion revisiting existing ships. They've just announced a Rebel expansion revisiting existing ships. Would you care to place a small wager on which faction will be getting a "fix" expansion next?

Wait, you're not convinced by the argument that, as long as you ignore all the cool stuff they just did for Scum, FFG isn't doing enough for Scum?

I'm playing catchup this morning and afraid I don't have time to read all 19 pages of comments. Am I right in thinking this is the imperial veterans equivalent for rebels or are they completely unrelated?

Difficult to tell at this point given how little has been properly spoiled. We know it has two copies of Inegrated Astro and the named T70 pilots that should have been in the core set and T&0 expac, and it's been theorised that there might be something good in there for T65s, but everything we've had confirmed so far has been good for T70s and not T65s, and for the Falcon.

There's even a new Illicit in there.

But my best guess is no. There will be another, probably to be released around the time Rogue One comes out, which will be Rebel Veterans.

Rebels again when Rogue One hits? :P

Tongue-in-cheek comment aside, Scum is at an inherent disadvantage right now: there's a lot more Rebel and Imperial stuff in the new movies that needs to come out than Scum.

Poe was described as "the best pilot in the galaxy". That's not really PS8.

No, just the "best pilot in the Resistance". The Resistance being a small proxy army covertly funded by sympathetic members of the Republic to stylie the First Order without getting their hands dirty.

Don't get me wrong, I am always happy to have new options and PS9 Poe does indeed open some new ones up. I just think that being the best in a small army is not automatically PS9 territory.

I don't think anyone in any SW film has flown better than him. He was better than Kara Thrace.

Excuse me if this has been mentioned already (don't have time to read through 19 pages) but I've just noticed in the picture it comes with a weapon disabled token! I can't see which card might include this effect, could we get mag pulse torpedos?

There's an illicit upgrade that adds a single-use SLAM. to equip the illicit, There's a mod that allows YT1300s (and possibly others) to take Illicit upgrades.

Got to admit, I'm not surprised at all the see either ship. I'm just surprised they came in a single expansion. I'm hoping there are not a lot of upgrade cards that would urge the purchase of a second one...I only want one of these expansions, and would not want to find myself buying two just so I can get enough of the next "authothrusters".

I am really glad I never got past the current minis on my work bench and repainted a X-70 as Black Leader. And I'm also really glad I didn't buy the rectangular antenna for the Falcon off Shapeways. Every once in a while, it pays to work 50+ hours a week and fall behind on modeling. Now I can turn my one spare YT-1300 into something else...probably sometime in 2018!

Overall, I'm pleased to see this expansion, and these ships and pilots make it a sure thing to keep my kids playing X-wing (started my 9-year old daughter on "Generic Wing last month and she loves it)! Now, can we get Imperial Vets off the boat!

I should have said I think he's a better pilot than me.

It's PS3 and is all but certain to be the millennium falcons stats this time round

I'd guess 1300 and 2400 only, those being the two Rebel smuggler freighter.

First post on this site:

Personally, I'm very excited to see these two ships get released as a bundled expansion. I just purchased the TFA Core Set (hopefully it arrives today), and I've been really torn as to how I could expand upon the three starter ships. The thought of mixing time periods by using ships from the Galactic Civil War with those during the rise of the First Order literally irks me and is wholly out of the question.

I'll happily add Black One and the era-correct Millennium Falcon to my roster, but what would veteran players suggest for the First Order roster? 4 more TIE/fos? Or is the dream of an era-correct TFA game not really feasible without added First Order ships?

Hey, could that upgrade be "Pre-Thrust"? Like, Advanced Sensors, but restricted to the Boost action? Maybe somebody already came up with that.

Write out thrusters, then put the "Pr" above it like the card. If the word is centered, it should be five letters?

"Proto Thrusters"? Maybe adds evade action to action bar for small ships? I.E. kinda like a targeting computer

If its that and there's only one in a pack Starviper fans are going to be mighty sad.

And have you got any idea what Han's ability would be? I think that it would be fun, if he gets something like this:

"Your ships always shoots first. No matter of other ships pilot skill".

That would be really thematic ;)

In the shooting phase, treat your Pilot Skill value as 12. :)

Just spit balling here but:

Trick Shot - After you perform a k-turn, T-roll or S-Loop move, you may discard this card to receive a focus token. (would combo well with Ello and Targeting Astromech)

Snap Shot - When you are declared the target of an attack, you may discard this card to immediately perform a primary weapon attack. If you do, you may not perform any more attacks this round.

Or:

Snap Shot - During the activation phase, choose an enemy ship, if that ship starts or ends its activation inside your arc, you may discard this card to immediately perform a primary weapon attack.

Snap Shot - During the activation phase, choose an enemy ship, if that ship starts or ends its activation inside your arc, you may discard this card to immediately perform a primary weapon attack.

Something along those lines would be cool. How about -

During the activation phase, before you reveal your dial, you may discard this card to immediately perform a primary weapon attack. If you do, you may not perform any more attacks this round.

So simply shoot before you move.

, I am always happy to have new options and PS9 Poe does indeed open some new ones up. I just think that being the best in a small army is not automatically PS9 territory.

I don't think anyone in any SW film has flown better than him. He was better than Kara Thrace.

Dengar, stood around in a cheap costume with toilet paper on his head and he's PS9 ...

Dengar rivals Han Solo as a pilot. At least in the legends. We actually have much more info about him than we do on Poe.

Also Vader in Rebels if you count animated series too. I don't think there's anyone in any canon (non-legends) source that pulls off the kind of flying Vader did in Rebels.

Didn't see anyone mention the new Aurbesh TL tokens, those look pretty great.

I am very excited for Heroes for a lot of reasons, largely those delicious new T-70 pilots. Can't wait to see what else is in the box.

Q3 seems pretty optimistic though, considering we're almost halfway through Q2.

Is that what they are? I assumed they were mission tokens, and they've just not bothered to show the TL tokens in the image.

They might tie into the in-box missions but the only reason I can think of having doubles of "A, B, C" in Aurbesh is to assign TLs. The flip sides might be the same or might be different colours, but it's going to be pretty easy to notice who's locked onto who when one player uses "AA" and "XX" versus the neat neon Aurbesh tokens.

Han. Lost falcon, his family, got SPOILER'd with lightsaber and he still has PS9

I'm not sure those are TL tokens. You have two tokens of the same color with the same character on them. So there's no way to tell the red TL from the blue TL token.

Which often doesn't matter, but if both players are using these, it could get quite confusing.

Edit: no red/blue designation... I guess they are mission tokens. Bummer. Seems like we'll have to wait for OP to issue acrylic aurebesh coolness.

But I really like them as Target Locks.

Rules wise there's issues with using those as TL's. Which doesn't mean you can't do them in friendly games and the like. But I wouldn't in a SC.

You put one of those on another ship and when you go to use it the other guy could say 'but that's not a blue TL token so it does nothing.' Because the rules specify the color of the token.

It's unlikely they'd include a change to the rules in that box, because then not everyone has access to those new rules, although they could update the FAQ.

But even then if you have two people using those as TL's unless they're different colors on the other side... Then how do you tell who's the TL belongs to? Is that my orange zerek or yours?

I'm a bit surprised to see these ships in an expansion like this. I thought they were using these expansions mostly to revisit (or fix) a ship thats been an underachiever and bring it back to the table more often.

Other ships need the attention and expansion more that these two ships. I guess it's part of the deal to promote The Force Awakens and upcoming films. Sadly it comes with the cost that other, older ships have to wait to be more viable again.
