HEROES OF THE RESISTANCE!

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

Well after having the rest of the day to think about, I'm not against the expansion so much as that I'm just disappointed this came before T-65/E-wings. I'm sure it will have good stuff.

The Poe "errata" if you will actually gives me hope of FFG redeeming Horton someday.... (#JusticeforHorton, #YwingsneedEPTstoo)

EDIT: Also, anyone noticed that FFG has been slowly trying to make PWTs want to keep people in arc more and more? It looks like they're trying to make PWTs more of an insurance in case you screwed up and your opponent slipped through your arc.

They did it for the FO. It wouldn't surprise me if they did it for this, since the Falcon is STILL one of their best selling ships.

I half agree.

The thing is, they are adding Rey and Finn as crew. What good is that to a new player unless they already have the Falcon? So, they buy this pack with crew they can't use, and have to buy another pack to use them?

Many of us (myself included) are looking at it from the perspective of already owning a Falcon. This expansion is aimed directly at people who started the game with the TFA core. That's not to say there aren't awesome things in this for us too, but it's aimed at the huge lot of new people.

It's a win in the end. Picture a new guy in six month buying the TFA core, then he walks by and sees this. He's going to buy it too! This is a huge draw to new people.

More new people means more money for FFG which means more toys for us as well.

I honestly don't think it's being aimed at new players. I'll agree, it's not bad as a deal for new players, but two T70s in a box would arguably have been an even better deal, for both an existing player, and a new player. The cards for the Falcon being in that set then wouldn't preclude the purchase of a Falcon later, and it also wouldn't mean their existing player base end up with a redundant ship sitting in their collection. For a vast majority of players, this will be a second Falcon. For some, even a third. I just don't see the point of it.

So, I don't know why I got so excited about this, but it was one of those moments where I was like, "Woah. I know I'm crazy, but I think this might actually be right."

So "Snap" Wexley's pilot ability seems to have to do with collisions (it says something about 4 speed and touching). There is also an upgrade card which I'm assuming is an EPT, called Snap Shot. I think the card abilities of Wexley and Snap Shot are going to be synergistic based on... Well.. The fact that his nickname is Snap.

Now this is totally a shot in the dark, but what if Snap Shot is a single use EPT, much like Crack shot (another name relation, lol), which allows you to fire at a ship you are touching?

What are you flying today?

Falcon with the title.

Which one?

The one with the evade.

Oh, who's on board?

Chewie.

Which one?

The pilot.

Oh. Which Chewie pilot?

New one.

Gotcha. Is that poe too?

Which poe?....

This is gonna get confusing if we keep getting duplicates.

What about:

I'm flying Han

Which Han

Old Han

Oh the Han from the YT-expansion

No Han from TFA, when he's old.

I can understand the bit of frustration that can come from this. Especially for players that have been away from the game for awhile, and jump back in just to be blindsided by a new ability from a pilot they were sure they knew until 4 turns in.

But thank GOODNESS they didn't put on the card "Old Han" or "Aged Chewbacca"... I would have face palmed hard enough to leave a mark.

So they're re-releasing ships now? Am I the only one thinking that this is bad for seasoned players? I'm NOT going to buy another YT & T70 just for the cards.

Because why fix the already underwhelming scum FACTION, when we can fix a ship that had huge glory days and cave to the incessant whining that Poe is "only" PS 8? Why not give away scum's unique upgrade while we are at it?

Why even create the scum faction? If it werent for the contracted scout slipping past your apparently lack luster playtesting, one might think ffg just didnt care. oh wait, they dont

Hyperbole much ? Scum are doing fine.

Has it been observed that Black One can (I think) proc twice on a BB-8 equipped T-70?

Also, are we sure it says PS "6" is the threshold? I was thinking it said PS 8 at first, which would restrict it to Poe-9.

What's different? Other than the dish, I sure hope they didn't make a new mold...

The article says:

"...a new version of the Millennium Falcon with a sculpt and paint scheme that have been updated to reflect the ship's appearance in The Force Awakens."

And

"First of all, you might notice the ship's new, rectangular sensor array. While this is likely the first change you may notice in the difference between the sculpts, it is not the only one. Heroes of the Resistance introduces a new sculpt and paint scheme for the Falcon that faithfully represent all the changes that the ship underwent between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens."

I literally cannot see any differences yet, other than the dish.

There is some differences. Look at the pilot side mandible. The front sunken dot is a raised dot on the original. Also look at the back right quarter, the open plating on the old one has a tube going from it. And some other minor changes. Its a different sculpt.

Oh and to everyone hoping for more T-65 fixes... all these new T-70 pilots, upgrades, and title are like... pushing the T-65 even FURTHER out of the spectrum.

The X-Wing issue was fixed seven months ago Brah... for reals!

I'd be very disappointed if it allowed any attack instead of forfeiting an attack to cause some autodamage

While Rey may be a new pilot, she is overly strong with the force... and even though Maarek is force sensitive, his powers are minor compared to hers from the way it looks like the story is going. The skills she displayed being a first time pilot in a large ship navigating tight quarters against highly agile Ties would show she has quite a bit of potential. Dont count her out yet! Wouldnt want to ding her PS based on that small "new pilot" detail and later find out how wicked she was behind the wheel and have another Poe "broken ps" issue and a new expansion pack with an updates PS later on lol.

It's not like farm boy Luke, first time flying an x wing, p.s. 8! Rey only got a p.s.6. Clearly not a sky walker.

I have a feeling that Finn Crew will synergize with Rey Pilot.

Seems a bit much at the minute but maybe he will make all of your arcs count for abilities?

Honestly I constantly get confused my what arks are what. 360 Primary arcs and secondary's etc. Why does "Firing Arc" on Rey's card only mean the front when the YT-1300 has a 230 primary?

There's no 230 primary arc, and no 360 primary arc. The Falcon (and all turret ships) all have the standard primary firing arc out the front of the ship. Having a primary weapon turret just means you can fire your primary outside of your firing arc.

Because that primary arc is where your ordnance comes out of, since the turrets aren't blasting missiles out.

SO PWT stands for primary weapon turret? But the front arc is the primary arc?

How is that not confusing?

PWT is not an arc. Your arc is the 90 degree lines on the front cut-out. If a ship has a Primary Weapon Turret, it may fire it's primary weapon out of arc.

Also no idea how I typo'd 360 in to 230

So there's not really a rulesey way that Finn could make Rey's ability work 360 then?

Probably not, especially considering her falcon title and pilot ability is based entirely around her sole trick in the film, in which Finn was gunning.

it was a pretty awesome moment though.

Highly unlikely.

Primary Weapon Turret means you can fire your primary weapon outside of your firing arc.
It has never, nor ever will mean you have a 360 firing arc.

if the game is completely disconnected from fluff why are Soontir Fel and Wedge Antilles PS9? Why have named pilots at all?

I didnt say it was completely disconnected, did I? I did not. My point is that there is a place where fluff has to give way to game mechanics. You said Poe was described as the best pilot, right? Well then clearly he should be base PS13, so noone is ever before him right? Obviously not. Because there is a break from fluff for mechanics.

In the end I dont really give two craps whether he is PS8 or 9, there are other more outstanding issues that could have used that card, mold and design space. But in the end FFG would rather cave to the whiny Poe fans than actually fix things.

whatever Im sure you can sleep easier now that you have PS9 Poe
