What do you feel is the best way to get used to a new Expansion? When I play Talisman with a new Expansion, I generally play with just the Main board and the new expansion. I may even ignore certain Adventure Cards that may take away from the flavor of the new Board. The first few times I play, I'd only use a character from that expansion. What do you guys do?

I usually play it by myself so i can get all the rules down for when i play with a group later. I'll use the new characters and maybe some old to see how the new expansion plays out.
I just shuffle all the Adventure Cards, etc.
We use endings only from the new expansion. After an ending is played, we remove it. This allows us to play each ending from the new expansion once. If a "hidden-only" ending is the last ending left to be played, then we're done and shuffle the endings into the "collection" for the next game.
As for characters, our first games uses only characters from the new expansion, randomly assigned. Once each character has been played once, we deal out characters from the pile at large.
We test every new extension with 3 players in 'demo-mode' .. meaning we are not that strict during the game, and concentrate on a good comprehension of the new rules.(and decide on 'adaptation' if too heavy for example)
