The Force Awakens Beginner Game
More dice, maps & tokens are always useful.
I wonder if this means s new CRB at some point too? If that's the case I hope there are a lot more ships in ep VIII.

Considering the character folios all show careers from previous lines, that doesn't look like the case. However, a sourcebook could be possible since the Beginner Box appears to have a new species.
I hope one of the online characters is a BB-series droid. Even if BB-8 was one-of-a-kind, the rest of the galaxy seemed to know what a BB droid looked like.
Edited by kaosoe"Huh" indeed.
We all figured there would be a TFA tie-in somewhere, but I'm not sure this is what I personally expected.
Interesting but I'm all for it!! Beginner Games provide an incredible value.
I really want to get the player character stats for that new species!!
I don't know if I could handle another Core Rulebook though!
Hopefully they'll announce more stuff!!!!
Edited by Hoda25Interesting, but kinda unexpected....
Hey look, a big printed out galaxy map!
I really mean this means the start of setting books and not another core line
I already have all these career books to buy
This is unexpected and awesome.
I would definitely guess that we'll see a sourcebook for the sequel movies, not a whole CRB.
Or they surprise us all, and make a new CRB that encompasses everything. IDK.
I sure hope there is a separate forum to go with it, like with the other beginner sets.

A Beginner Game without a CRB is possible, but seems a bit inconsistent.
The interesting thing will be to see what's in the probable CRB. I mean gear, vehicles, and equipment will be there, though I suspect it won't be hugely different than what we've already got. There will be new species, no doubt there. The Careers and Specs will prove a little interesting, as it looks like it'll be a combination of existing CRBs.... and the personal narrative mechanic will be... I dunno....
Abednedo! Woohoo!
I was just saying,in the whats sorely missing thread, that we needed these guys, and here we go!

You raise a good point. It's almost like TFA is a compression of the original series into a single movie and really covered the entire range of options in the current CRBs. Definitely curious to see what they do next.
As to further speculation,
We have:
Bormo the Abednedo Colonist
Fira Bon the Human Soldier (with kickass art)
Mhar'li the Human ???
??? The Human Explorer
So, apart from the soldier, all careers are Edge of the Empire. However, I suspect that Mhar'li is a pilot. Maybe a variant Kanjiclub human.. Then the players can tell it to her.
As I have never been a fan of Force abd Destiny, If there was a new line, I would be ecstatic. Not to mention, even if there are repeated careers, they Could make new specialties. Considering the Jakku setting, I suspect a "scavenger" specialty with rules for such.
Squee!
The box art bothers me because it's just the movie poster. The previous beginner games all featured original art with new/unknown characters.

There is. Scroll down to these forums on the Roleplaying Games Forum Index.
I hope there is more to come. If that´s it iam a little bit disappointed.

That would explain why a Scav spec wasn't in Spec Mods...
I mean it's hardly confirmation, but it's not a bad conspiracy theory....

It makes a certain amount of sense, though, as this one is named after and more closely tied to a specific movie.
I really loved the new Star Wars so anything that brings stuff from the new canon to the table is really exciting.
But if they expand on this I would prefer TFA/New Canon Source Books instead of a CRB.
Maybe they could even have more Universal Specialisations everyone is so eager to get more of.
Anyway, I'll probably check this box out, if only for more dice. ![]()
It makes sense that a core book and a line will emerge from this. I'm going to need more shelves.
It has been confirmed by Sam Stewart, via Twitter, that this is NOT a new game line. Only an introduction to the existing ones.
Still, i maintain a scavenger specialty may yet arise, as there will likely be Sequel Era sourcebooks - a The Force Awakens primer, i suspect.
Imagine new races, like the Abednedo, and one new specialty for each existing career - 18 new ones in all, could be possible if done that way.

Edited by RicoDConfirmed standalone product by the devs.
And in case you're wary, and not sure if the devs are just holding back a Core announcement, the Production Code for the Beginner Game is "SWR09". With SWR 01-05 being the Adversary and Crit decks. So while that doesn't necessarily stop them from putting out any sort of Core-neutral supplements under the "SWR" line, it does pretty much confirm that there is no new Core or full product line associated with it coming.
Anyway, I'll probably check this box out, if only for more dice.
Oh, I'll probably buy the **** fool thing. The games inside and the followup PDF haven't been all that bad (constraints on teaching the game not withstanding), so I'll probably be able to strip mine it for good ideas for my mainstream game.
