Since discarding a card means you flip it face down?
Would Boba Fett Crew Reverse Adaptability's Effect?
Read the full rules. Discarding a card means it is out of play for all purposes except determining squad point cost, and it is flipped face down (or in the tournament rules, put under the ship card) to denote this.
So Adaptability being discarded would mean that the ship went back to its printed pilot skill.

Except when he chooses which side for adaptability after placing, his PS is permanently modified. So removing adaptability via Boba would have zero impact on the actual ship.
Where is it written that a change to PS from upgrade cards is permanent?

I believe it's the faq that says that a ship with VI that receives injured pilot crit is PS0, not PS2. And Adaptabilities phrasing on the card is the exact same as it is for VI. The only difference between the two is when you activate a dual card.

That's because the crit is the latest modification of pilot skill applied to the ship.
It's only "flipped" in tournament rules so you get the full points like crack shot etc when the ability has been used.
It's flipped in the main rulebook, which is the same as the tournament rules now isn't it? (From TFA Core book)
The only reason I had this question is because that thread about Tomax brem. His card ability has some really confusing language in it that only makes sense when you read the rules for discards in the TFA rule book.
When an Upgrade card is discarded, it is flipped facedown. The card is out of play for all purposes except when determining the total squad point cost of the ship to which it was equipped. If an Upgrade card is flipped faceup by a game effect, it returns to play equipped to the same ship.

No, the latest tournament rules say 'place discarded cards under the pilot card' presumably specifically because of the interaction with adaptability.
I'm hoping Bren's wording was corrected before printing, the way he is currently written is unnecessarily complex, albeit RAI is clear.

For Bren, it reads to me, once per round, when you discard an EPT, don't. Whether that be due to usage, ie crackshot, or outside effects like Boba. But if you use Crackshot, then its Boba'd, you discard it.

I think this is the simplest way to explain the intent after thinking through the implications of how the ability would work.
Once per round when you would discard an [EPT] upgrade, you do not discard it.
Done. Then it doesn't need any language referring to how discards are handled, and players can handle discards however the heck they want.
But wouldn't that confuse players as they would wonder if having not discarded it would still trigger the ability.

You are waaaaay over thinking this. There is no confusion to be had.
Use text on card, discard EPT, ability interrupt, put card back with pilot face up. it is that easy.

I'm not over-thinking it. I'm saying you can't win whatever you write on the card.
Crackshot for instance reads "discard this card to ...." implying that you DO have to discard the card in order to get the bonus. If the pilot ability purely said "don't discard" it creates a possible confusion...
"do I still get my ability if I didn't discard?"
I know you do. But I'm saying that Brem's card text is clear when using the rules in the book what it does, while preserving the action of discarding to eliminate confusion.
"Once per round you may put a [ept] upgrade you discarded that round back into play."
There's really no reason to mention the specific physcial actions you take to discard the cards at all, and any confusion can be errated or faqed. As opposed to the preview version which is already contradicting itself between the Rules Reference and the Tournament Rules before it's even on the shelf.
Why tha *** is Bob A Fett wasting his ability on Adapta-fuking-bility?

Where in any of the rules does it even suggest that you don't get the ability? Rules lawyers and power gamers.. ruining war games since 19 dickety.
Bren's text could not be any clearer, you don't discard an EPT once a round, it says nothing about non activation of said ability, all it says is return it to your hand.
It says, "Once per round, after you discard an (EPT) Upgrade card, flip that card faceup.", it even says after you have discarded it.
