Tractor beams on flotillas?

By beefcake4000, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Working on the proviso that flotillas are small ships is there any reason they can't use tractors to slow down ships on similar bases, corvettes and raiders etc? Would seem a good way to get a few tractors in cheaply.

No.

At least for the Gozanti. That's been confirmed to have an Offensive Retrofit slot.

We have no such confirmation for the GR75 at this time .

So in hindsight that question was poorly worded. No in you're response meaning yes they can equip and use a tracto beam?

My question was really just about the ability in case the flotilla is considered a smaller size for some reason I've missed.

Cheers

You are Correct.

They are considered a Ship for all Rules, with one singular exception (Collisions).

Ships are further Defined by the Size of their base. IN this case, it is a Small-Base ship (whose dimensions will match the statement.)

Until they release something with a different base size, we continue to have "Small", "Medium" and "Large" Ships.

Ergo

A Gozanti Flotilla is, for all intents and purposes (barring Collisions), a Small Ship, and will benefit from all of the positives and negatives that entail a Small Ship.

Although there are some people who doubt this, this is the only reading of the applicable rules that I can come up with. Indeed, as it is, the Flotilla rules are not restricted to the small size as it is... You could technically have a Flotilla of Large Ships if you want, representing some ships that are Large Enough, but Too Fragile, to be considered Medium Ships in their Own Right.

The latest article confirmed that they are small ships, not just ships on small bases, so yes, you can use t-beams on them to slow down cr-90s and the like. Also Motti will give them a bonus hull.

Noice. Thanks for persisting!

I seriously hope the rebel transports have offensive retrofit slots. No expanded hangers would limit their role a fair bit, especially since half of them have no guns!
