Can we please...?

By Stay On The Leader, in X-Wing

...quit it with the sh*tty clickbait thread titles?

"It finally happened!"

"I finally figured it out!"

"It is ok to use?"

"How would you feel if FFG added ships from..."

Don't be a ****, just say what your thread is about in the title. It's what the title is actually for!

Cheers,

Dave

Some of us have a dark side quota to fill.

The question is:

Are you annoyed with the creators of such threads, or are you annoyed with yourself for clicking on them?

Also

"Can we please..?"

Man, I really hate that one.

Use "would you kindly" instead.

The creators. I'm clicking on them because the thread might be something very interesting and useful, but that they take away my ability to decide if it's a topic I'm interested in or not is just a sh*tty thing to do.

"Can we please..?"

Man, I really hate that one.

I think my point was well made, then.

Snargels... Yabels... Blabs!

Snargels... Yabels... Blabs!

Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebted to Gabby Johnson for clearly stating what needed to be said. I'm particularly glad that these lovely children were here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age.

I'm okay with Yabels and Snargels, but I draw the line at Blabs. Like everyone else, I grew up with some sort of bias or prejudice that I've worked hard to overcome in my adult life, and have suppressed what could not be erased entirely, but Blabs? No. I been hurt one too many times.

I didn't get a harumph from that guy.

Bonus points for using that reference! :D :D :D :D

I love you Gabby Johnson and all your rustic homespun ways.

SNARGELS... IS the worst, so best to put it up front in the sentence to clarify that you are indeed serious about the matter at hand... the rest is just extra flavor to demonstrate good character in these situations.

;)

I hate to derail this with a serious comment. :)

But when someone does it intentionally, yes it's a pain. But not everyone does that intentionally, in some cases it seems like a reasonable topic for the thread.

Given a choice, I prefer to look at attractive people more than I care to look at unattractive people. That doesn't mean that when I see an unattractive person, I cross the road to let them know that I don't care for the way they look.

In the same way, if I don't like clickbait...

I find it easier to say what the topic is about in the topic and not make my topic title...

"So, I was playing a list the other day and I found this problem with it, have you found that problem?"

I just don't click on the 'clickbait' topics. I used to, but it quickly became apparent that the ramblings of those who are unwilling or unable to even name their thread in a remotely informative manner were rarely worth actually clicking on. So now I don't. Problem solved.

Can we please... Play a 1,000 point epic game?

.... Practice my list for regionals?

.... Use daredevil on z-95's?

.... Blow up a planet?

Except this one?

:-)

I nominate Earth.

It seems that people these days don't value clear and concise information. Ideally a title could tell you everything you want to know about the subject or at the very least enough to know if you want to pursue it.

Too bad this topic is a great example of the terrible click bait thread. Had the title been "Can we please quit the clickbait titles?" you'd get a much better group of replies even if you don't get as many views and perhaps not as many comments.

Considering all of the junk that shows up on these forums it keeps becoming easier and easier to just skip topics that don't want to say what they are actually about.

I love how I was clickbaited into clicking on a thread about stopping clickbait.

Sorry!

Use "would you kindly" instead.

Last time I heard someone say "would you kindly" a man was killed with a golf club.
