Revised Regionals Data

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

People will be ready to take the 5-5s versus those 3 VSD Rhymerballs at Worlds. Not that I was there. (That sounds sarcastic but I really was not there.)

He win with it? The "come at me" style's only weakness is the 5-5.

Depends how you deploy. My opponents all played aggressively, but I could have easily deployed at speed two. And boosted Comms with Rhymer pretty much means there's nowhere to hide your entire fleet. If my opponent played for the 5-5, I would have gladly used long range bombing to take out a weak ship and get a 6-4.

Well, the Vancouver Regional data is now included in the spreadsheet. Another Imperial win, the first for Screed. The Rebels had a good showing though taking 2nd through 4th and putting the Rebel Swarm on the map a bit.

With only 11 players, the Vancouver data was not included in the Top 8, like I had done with Fargo.

Rebel swarm is where its at. My goal is to put Mon Mothma on the top 8 map.

I'm hoping that as the sample sizes grow some different things will start to shake out. I know that locally Rebel Swarms are a popular and effective build, but they've been nearly non-existent so far.

Regionally, Rebel Swarms get murdered by Demolishers and Rhymer Balls, both of which are omnipresent. And we've even got two people who have bought seven CR90s and seven MC30s (for the TRC cards), so we've got some dedicated and serious Rebel Swarm players.
Rhymerball's don't scare me much, it is more those super low bidding Demolisher lists that worry me.

Rebel Swarms that need to be at range all day would have some issues with a Rhymerball. Thankfully lists that can switch to an aggressive posture don't need to worry too much about that

To be really honest, this is what I'm seeing everywhere.

No detailed data just yet (hopefully Shane will collate it) , but imperials won Indianapolis.

First place was jimmy Mullins with an ISD, double glad "healing" list

Second place was Kyle Martin with demo 5x Raiders

Lost track after that in a drug induced coma... ;)

Great time!

Personally lost no games, but had a game time out due to some unfortuNate slow play. Barely completed round 4 :(. My opponent kept saying he'd make a mistake if he played fAster.......ugh.....

Oh well, still a fun day!

Too bad about the slow play!

It's sounding like the trend of Imperials being dominant continues from the individual threads. At least the players seem to be bringing both factions nearly evenly so far.

Can't wait to see the updated data crunching once this Weekend's events are entered.

Yep, I am going to be busy getting the data put together over the next couple of days. It looks like Imperials won the weekend, but more Rebels seem to have made it into the Top 4, which is good. Looks like I have Boston, Indy, and Victoria to get processed.

Anyone enjoying all this data work can feel free to buy me a drink if you meet me in person! Whereas I may owe a drink to those helping me gather the data. I really appreciate all of the help!

Brother! You are doing an amazing job! I am finding this data fascinating and amazing on how you are keeping it so organized and compiled! If you were in my community I would be recommending you for some promotion points!

Just added the Victoria data to the Winner and Top 4 categories.

and this is hilarious...

While to no one's great surprise the Gladiator is the most common ship in winning fleets at 57%, you'd never guess 2nd place....

At 29% of all winning fleets...

it's the VSD!

I'll never stop trying to make it and slaved turrets work together! NEVER!

I'll never stop trying to make it Nebulons and slaved turrets work together! NEVER!

I put Dodonna on the map there! Time to prep for Tacoma

Hopefully by the end of Regionals we can put to rest the idea that the VSD is a useless ship.

I really wonder what it's being used for though. Carrier? Damage?

It looks to be mostly carrier/flagship duty in the Rhymerball fleets.

That's how I used it. Triple VSD with Motti and ten squadrons (one rogue), mix of bombers and anti-squadron units. Ten hull is a decent amount to cut through. Only lost one ship all day, and two of them survived thanks to Motti. Proper deployment and Boosted Comms lets you slow roll but still get some damage in early, or mop up their squadrons before your ships engage.

I was the winner at the Victoria Regionals, and yeah two VSD-I's formed the carrier back-bone of my fleet. I went out to bat for them on /r/StarWarsArmada a couple of months ago, so its pretty vindicating to see them doing so well. I feel that a lot of people underestimate them and it ends up biting them.

I came in third at the Indianapolis regionals, also imperial. I ran ISD-2, Raider-1, and demolisher, with motti.

Any idea when the Boston Regional Data will be added to this (assuming we have that information)?

A request has been made for the lists from the TO. I will add the data as soon as I have access to it.
