Revised Regionals Data

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

Top 5 from NY;

pt106 (I think thats his handle on here) ran a very interesting fleet, 2 isd-1's, 3 raiders. Motti, I believe. Very barebones, I know OE was on his ships, I think maybe the ISDs also had intel officer.

2 was a 3 MC30, one cr90 MM list with Tycho and 3 awings driven by Parker, who mentioned something about perhaps putting a an article up on WWPD.

Reinholt came in 3rd, 3 glad 2 raider DeMSU.

My friend Will came in 4th with a six activation MM swarm. I slid into fifth runnibg DeMSU. 2-5 all had 22 or 21 pts. PT had like 26 or 27 tourny points. 16 people over all showed up, I think only Bergerfett ran a rhymerball. The tournament was extrmeley squadron light, high activation lists all over. If anyone else who was there has more info please or remembers stuff i forgot please chime in!

I had an awesome time, it was great meeting so many awesome folks, or seeing folks I already knew again to play some armada. Brothers Grim was a great venue, and there was such a great vibe at the event, everyone wws there to chill and have fun and play spaceships.

My fleet was 2xISD1(Intel officer/OE),2xRDR1,1xRDR1(Motti). 398 pts total.

(I'm still on my way back, so I'll do a full report once home).

I can vouch that fleet was nasty.

T. I slid into fifth runnibg DeMSU.

I converted you to the dark side! Muhahaha!

WHAAAAA!!

I converted you to the dark side! Muhahaha!

Oh man I was so ashamd of myself. But will was using my MM swarm and I didnt want to buy any more corvettes.

Colorado I know first and second were Ackbar fleets, I took 6th with an Ackbar fleet. I didn't get any of the other lists but they said that they would be putting the lists up on their Facebook group soon.

At Colorado I took 7th with Rieekan aces AF, fully loaded mc30 scout, and Yavaris. 1st and 2nd place both had 27 points and 1st won by 50 mov.

I played second place, who ran a naked CR90b with Ackbar, 2 CR90as with TRCs, MC30 scout, TRC, OE, apt, Dash, and 6 YT2400. Those TRCs and YT2400s were absolutely brutal.

Thanks guys. If you see more details posted up please pass along the links. I will start working in the data. Great to see a win by a different Rebel admiral.

Ok so, Melbourne regional on may 14. We had a whopping 10 players total with an oddly even 5/5 faction split. Only 1 player had/used a bye. He was running an acbkar firing line type build, because he doesn't get to play this game much, and it's a pretty easy build to pick up when rusty etc. At least one of the other players just always plays rebels no matter what (and plays pretty often). So take the 5/5 with a small grain of salt maybe? I'm sure there's always similar reasonings for someone at every event though.

I won with:

Imperials

388/400

Red: Precision Strike

Blue: Superior

Yellow: Hyperspace

Commander: Screed 26

Imperial I (Flagship) 110 (145 total w/ screed)

Expanded Hangar 5

Boosted Comms 4

Glad I 56 (90 total)

Demo 10

Intel 7

Engine Techs 8

Ord Experts 4

APT 5

Raider I 44 (57 total)

Impetuous 4

Hangar 5

OE 4

Squadrons (96 total)

Rhymer 16

Dengar 20

4 Tie Bombers 36

2 Tie Advanced 24

It worked pretty well as sort of a dual threat rhymerball demo build. I wondered how it would do against a more dedicated build of one or the other though. The kinda sorta final was against:

3 VSD w/tarkin, 2 with comms, with a ruthless strategist and flight controller in there somewhere, and IG-88, Mauler, Rhymer, Dengar, 3 bomber, 2 advanced.

Not sure about tarkin over motti and a couple other small choices there, but he was cute. His more dedicated rhymer strat with Ig and mauler etc. won that fight without me doing too much (maybe about a 1/3 of a vsd) with mine, BUT then the distraction had bought demo enough time to get around and start going h.a.m. It basically soloed to VSDs, and my ISD was able to disengage (had a fair amount of damage and we were doing precision strike). Pretty good game.

So there was a 3rd 2-0 player going into that last round that managed to win to get to 3-0, BUT he played the same person twice. I know right? Not sure how the T.O. missed that, and he made some other bad/strange rulings on the day I hear (nothing else too impactful though). I had played the T.O. previously at a store championship, and he had played well and seemed plenty knowledgeable etc. Maybe something about the questions on those rulings just didn't get conveyed well to him or something. Who knows. He made correct rulings also, and is a super nice guy that wasn't trying to be shady or anything, just honest mistakes or whatever. This store does an extremely good job on running and organizing events, and the x-wing store championship/regional there were run as well as World's was. Of the two players paired for the second time (round 1 and round 3), one seemed very new, possibly to any sort of tournament gaming seeing as how really any game ever does not allow for this to happen. The other is a guy who (the eventually "second place"), for lack of a better way to say it, has a history for trying to get away with things in events for several games that he's played in in the region. He's not the worst that's around about that sort of thing, but is just the type to not speak up about an obvious error where he think he can benefit. Everyone has been at events with repairings over that sort of thing (I know for a fact he has been at several for x-wing, including the previous week). He knows better. Oh well.

So I know that was long winded, but the gist of it is, I'm not sure how much you want to look into the placing of the other lists. Plus only 10 players, and I know that data from some of the smaller events has been thrown out anyway. The points were:

1st me 26

2nd see above 20 (could've still won that last round anyway though and still finished here if matched against someone else of course, but there were a few more experienced players around that he avoided with that, who knows)

3rd matt 19 (my opponent in last round)

like 3+ with 16

etc.

Admirals I know of:

Screed 1

Tarkin 1

Motti 1

Garm 1

Ackbar 2

Like I said, the other builds were 2 of each faction for sure. I know one of the other 2 rebels wasn't acbkar (it had like 4 nebs in it). Not sure who though. It also had an mc-80, so maybe dodonna because that seems tightish on points? who knows.

Hope at least some of this mess was helpful, lol. I'll see about maybe obtaining more complete info, but don't count on it.

At Colorado I made 8th place with 2 Neb-B and 3 MC-30 with the Dread Necromancer himself. I know the guy who came in second, he had 3 cr90, 1 assault frigate, and 6 yt2400 and dash. A lot of mc80 and rebel aces lists. Total of 24 people, only 1 DeMSU list (and that one had 4 gladiators and 1 raider)

The guys streaming the event are posting all the lists online in a few days.

Here is a quick overview of the Top 4 from the Michigan regionals. We had about 18 paticipants, lots of players from out of town/state/country.

Ben - thanks! I've adjusted my post to reflect your changes. I'm Carlo (aka your second round opponent).

Nice try, close...

So 1st place was Paul with:

ISD1x2 with Ordnance Experts + Intel Officer, 3x Raider 1. Motti was the admiral. I believe this came in at 398 points.

I was 2nd place with 3xGlad 1, 3xRaider 1, Screed, 2xTIE fighters. Screed was the admiral. 390 points with upgrades.

3rd place was Parker with 3xMC30 1xCR90. All three MC30s were APT+OE+some title or advanced projectors. One had Lando. I missed the squadrons and upgrades on the CR90.

Edit: Interesting note is that none of the top 3 played each other in the tournament. A strange situation due to a ton of byes that scrambled the bracket.

Imperials continue to dominate. ;)

I think that happens not because of the byes, but because of the way scoring system works in Armada. For example, I was #2 after the second round, played #1 and after 9-1 loss he drops to the 6th place (and with binary win/loss results (or cut) he'll still be in the top 4 after the loss)

Thanks all, I've added the data that you gave to the spreadsheet.

After this weekend, the Imperial lead isn't quite as strong as the Rebels have made some good showings.

I'm going to consolidate some of the archetypes together to make that information a little more useful.

NY regional was a good time. Of course, $2 hamburgers and $1 hot dogs may be coloring my view on this.

I ran an Ackbar list, with an MC80 Assault, Leading shots, XX-9's, Defiance, Assault Frigate A, Gunnery teams, TRC, Assault Frigate B, Boosted Comms, Flight controllers, 2 A-Wings, and dash. 400 points, Objectives Hyperspace Assault, Advanced Gunnery, and Dangerous Territory.

7th. Overall I felt pretty good about how it went, with the exception of my maneuvering of my AF gunship, I always fall the tantalizing chance of getting behind the other guys ships....

Rebels are winning with high activation fleets.

Imperials are winning with lots of squadrons.

Still looking for additional data from the following:

  • Indy - Anything really
  • Sheffield - any fleets outside the Top 3
  • New York - 8th place fleet
  • Colorado - 3rd, 4th, and 5th place fleets
  • Melbourne - 2nd and 4th place fleets
  • Michigan - anything outside the Top 4

6th in NY was an MC80 list... let me talk to him and see if I can get the complete list for you.

6th in NY was an MC80 list... let me talk to him and see if I can get the complete list for you.

I played him in a final round. It was Ackbar Command MC80(Defiance/Leading Shots/ECM), AF2B (Gunnery/ECM) and a Scout MC30 (I think it was Admonition/OE/APT/TRC) with Jan Ors and 3 XWings for squadrons.

Thanks!

That gives me enough data to use New York in the Top 8 as well.
