Savage Species... and what comes next

By Maelora, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

EDIT: Unfortunately, it turns out I don't look like a Togruta. Who knew?

Pics or I'll assume you're fibbing and are actually a togruta.

I've seen a picture of Desslok, but my headcanon says he's a penguin merely cosplaying a human.

A very angry penguin.

Does anyone have any idea at all what species will be present. I'm just dying to know.

We've heard nothing about the species or the signature abilities so far; like I said, I was expecting a teaser news post yesterday to give us something, but alas.

There's a slightly higher than normal chance that one of the species will be Pantorans, but that's only based on the one Hermit image we've gotten, so it's not much to go on.

I thought that one of the hints was "tall with six limbs" for a species. I guessed Quermians, but many others think we'll get Besalisks again.

We're gonna get some Thri-Kreen up in here!

Woot-woot, mixing universes!

Fingers crossed and eyes closed for miraluka

Okay, so I just got it! But I have to go to work in like 10 minutes so here's the easiest spoilers I can offer. Mind you I've only just opened up the book less than a minute into writing this.

Species: Anx,Ithorian, and Quermian

Force power: Farsight

Specializations: executioner, hermit, and navigator

Signature abilities:unexpected demise, and unmatched pursuit.

Gear: lots of misc gear, hearty amount of new melee/ranged/armor, 2 new lightsaber crystals, new wpn and armor mods, couple new starships and vehicles.

Bestiary and animal companion rules.

Okay got to go to work! Hopefully I won't be late

O_O ... Unexpected Demise sounds...Vicious! And Unmatched Pursuit...Hmm. The "Unmatched" abilities are the mechanical ones - I would have expected the two abilities there (killing silently and unerring tracking) to be flipped, with tracking being narrative and killing being mechanical. I guess we'll see how it works, huh?

Questions!

1. How many Force Rating ranks are in each of the new specs?

2. Any interesting new talents, Force or otherwise?

3. Any of the new specs have unique/wonky layouts, like the Gambler or Heavy?

4. What skills do each of the new specs have?

5. Could you give us an overview of the signature abilities, what they do and how they work?

6. Quermians: how are they different from Xextos and Besalisks?

7. General overview of Farsight? Base Force Rating to use? What sort of effects it has? (... Total XP needed to buy the whole thing? ... I'm not obsessive about this stuff, I promise >_< !)

8. Anything else you notice that's new and cool?

Thanks for taking on this-a heavy burden!

Quermians have two arms.

I am exceptionally interested in Farsight.

They do have 4 arms, just one pair is shorter than the others.

Awwww no Neti :(

My EU knowledge is fairly limited, so I don't really care one way or the other. Although I so wish there were more pretty species (I think Marcy and I are in agreement on this ;) ). Needs more pretty ladies!

I honestly don't know why I'm surprised any more. Especially when Pantorans were teased.

I'd just like some sort of a balance. Something humanoid, something weirdly exotic and something iconic would make me happy at this point.

But it's all weird and all duplicates all the time these days, which makes me sad, especially when we've had Pantoran and Arkanian characters in the adventures.

*insert Marcy's salty tears yet again*

Anyway, the only real questions I have are about the Spec skills. In particular whether there's any lightsaber ones, like Armourer in Keeping the Peace. One spec per career seems wrong considering lightsabers are so iconic to Force users.

Even though I subscribe to Donovan's view that lightsabers should be rare like high-end magic weapons like Excalibur and Stormbringer, we need more I feel. There's a grand total of one PC in my groups who uses one, across about 20 characters.

You're new here, aren't you?

The Neti are pretty!!!!!

Which is why we ain't gonna get them, when there's plenty of the EU barrel to be scraped yet.

I liked the dryad-y, plant people too.

I can sort of see Ithorians being here, because they are at least naturalists. The rest? Not so much.

*tears*

As an aside the Quermians kinda freak me out with their long necks. Just want to take a lightsabre and hack it off.

Well, the Quermians smell with their fingers, so there's got to be some middle-school humor that can come from that...

Kill it with fire! :)

We have to have a thread where we discuss what's in Savage Spirits. I cannot wait for the book to arrive.

Ooh,the Neti ARE pretty <3 <3 ...

Ever since I was little I've always felt that trees are the most spiritually powerful creatures in the world (whales are probably a close second), so I've always had a thing for tree-people, because of the wise, gentle strength they exude.

...I've mentioned that I'm weird, right? I'm really, really weird.

Around here, I'd say you were on the average side of normal!

I'm a 46 year old woman who runs games about make-believe characters my friends made up that's loosely based on a film I saw when I was seven...

I'm pretty sure everyone here does that. I mean, not everyone is a 40-something woman, but the running make-believe games for friends...isn't that what this entire forum is for?

Personal opinion, of course, but I think you need several traits that are not shared by 99.99% of the local population before you can claim the title of "odd."

Tree races are awesome.
