Savage Species... and what comes next

Stupid truck! Be faster!

Stupid truck! Be faster!

Pfft!

Still waiting on Special Modifications to arrive over here in the UK (legitimate RRP through appropriate distributors, as opposed to a "F*** you Brit, pay for import price!" copy).

How things seem to be going (Spec Mod reprint waaaay down on the list), soon going to be a book behind over here... Yes, I can understand that the tech book (+ crafting) was something that was going to be high demand, but no excuse for a company as experienced as FFG not understanding this demand and printing a larger run initially (like they weren't going to sellout, hah, get a clue FFG).

Ain't heard of those Waylands Forge guys before (are they a fairly new company?)... Usually check with Leisure Games, or failing that, Book Depository; neither have had it in stock, I was watching them avidly! :(

But cheers for the heads-up, mate! Will have to check with Waylands Forge for Savage Spirits (and Spec Mod reprint) in the future ;)

Well, we'll see how fast CSI is compared to Mini Market. So far my preorders at MM have been slow as a glacier getting to my box, so hopefully this time we'll get better results. The upside is that I'm taking the next four weeks off from the game for the Seattle International Film Festival, so it should be here LONG before I get back to running the game.

FFG know their main market - the good ol' US of A.. I don't even think the rest of the world gets a pre-release shipment so we can all get it on the same day.... that may be a marketing thing in case it arrives early in the UK so I can't blame them. I'm sooooo many books down tbh I'll have to sell a kidney on the black market if I want to get all the FFG SW books I still want/need

I like those guys, but I f***ing hate the packing peanuts they use. It's the 21st century, nobody's supposed to be using packing peanuts anymore. Also, they tend to pack the books in boxes that are just the right size for the book, so they're likely to have damaged corners from the trip.

I've had no issues with their packaging, and I use them regularly. Why the hate on the packing peanuts?

....because they're inedible?

So, while we're waiting for the shipping truck, any thoughts or predictions for the signature abilities we'll see? It's a shame Sudden Discovery is already a thing, because that would for the Seeker to a T. Hopefully they don't repeat it; I can deal with repeated specs, but I don't think I'd be a fan of repeated signature abilities.

Inedible, get everywhere, the box is usually four or five times as tall as it needs to be so I have to dig, environmentally unfriendly, etc. I get that they're cheap and easy to use, but there are better and still inexpensive options for protecting items in transit. Also, the packing peanuts are usually dumped on top of the product but not under it, so they're doing very little to protect it.

It's a minor gripe, to be sure. CSI has great customer service and decent delivery times (being on the same coast helps, albeit at opposite ends) so I'm happy to use them, it's just a little vexing to have to clean up after their delivery.

Whilst we have not seen any repeated Sig Abilities I think it will happen. As far as the repeating anything Sam and Max have said in the past that if an existing game Spec/Talent/mechanic fits another place in the system then they will reuse it instead of renaming or replicating with minor changes.

So I would not be surprised to see Sudden Discovery, but there's no precedent yet so we will see.

Funnily enough I had previously thought that the other Fringer ability of Unmatched Mobility would fit well, but I hope they don't duplicate both.

The Devs have also said they like there to be a Signature Ability that fits into Narrative Play and another that fits Structured for each career.

I think one of the cornerstones of the Seeker career is survival in the wild, a Sig Ability focused on survival in extreme conditions could fit very well, Unmatched Endurance?

Is a delivery of 2 June still expected? Could not remember if it was two or three weeks for shipping.

Yep, still expecting June 2 as the release date.

I just got confirmation that my copy of Savage Spirits is in transit! Says it'll be here by next Tuesday, but will probably arrive Saturday or Monday! I'm so excited!

Grrr...this is the book that im going to have the hardest time waiting this last week for. It was so hard to resist ordering it through some other outlet, but I want to support my FLGS.

I unfortunately don't have a lgs, so I'll get it soon but I will be alone in my excitement

You realize what that means, right? That means that once you get the book, you're the one who's gonna be required to answer all of our questions about the book between now and Thursday.

As Marcy found out with Special Modifications, that's a big responsibility.

I choose to accept this mission, no matter how daunting it may seem

As Marcy found out with Special Modifications, that's a big responsibility.

I had to pick the book that was full of tables and charts and finicky stuff, didn't I? :)

Anyway, I am grateful for your precognitive powers and tireless data analysis while we all sit around hitting F5 to refresh and wishing we played the Card Game, X-Wing or Imperial Assault instead of the RPG (and hence got weekly updates instead of something written by the work experience kid that amounted to ' um, Ahsoka is cool huh? Maybe, err, you could make a character like that...?' ).

Your efforts are appreciated; you're like some wonderful togruta-shaped* Lucky 8 Ball of precognition, working hard for the benefit of us salivating, splatbook-starved RPG fans!

*(assuming you look exactly like your avatar, which I'm sure you do...)

Well the praise is appreciated, but I think you're giving me too much credit; I don't track this stuff to help you guys, I track it because I'm crazy and my brain tells me to. I share it because you guys seem to appreciate it, and numbers are fun!

And my precognitive abilities aren't quite as hot as you think: I was expecting a preview news post today like we got for Nexus's and Special Modifications, and I was wrong about that, wasn't I :) ?

But if I can bring some happiness and relief from the agonizing waiting, well then that's all that matters.

And that Brain is satisfied. That matters too. If she's not, there is hell to pay...

EDIT: Unfortunately, it turns out I don't look like a Togruta. Who knew?
