God Save the King! (Prince Xizor, Slaver, Thug)

By Caboose2900, in X-Wing Squad Lists

The List:

Prince Xizor (31):

-Thrusters(2), Title(1), VI(1), Sensor Jammer(4), Cloaking Device(2)

(41)

Trandoshan Slaver (29):

-Boba(1), Greedo(1), Dengar(3)

(34)

Syndicate Thug (18):

-TLT(6), Unhinged(1)

(25)

100 Points total

The Idea:

Protect the King (Prince)! Escort Xizor with the high endurance Slaver and Thug, all while the trio is eating the opponent with loads of fire power. Once the Slaver and Thug are dead, let your king take home all the glory by either stalling for time with 41 points left, or just killing your victim.

Let me know what you think. Just a silly list I threw together when I should be working.

I think I'd prefer a slightly modified version, like this:

Prince Xizor (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Virago (1)
Trandoshan Slaver (29)
Dengar (3)
Zuckuss (1)
4-LOM (1)
Syndicate Thug (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Total: 98

If you're going PS9, make sure you have an get at least a minor initiative bid, imho.

Or, if you're interested in PS3 and increased blocking ability to take out Imperial Aces and fire at the same time as U-Boats, maybe this:

Prince Xizor (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Virago (1)
Contracted Scout (25)
Deadeye (1)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Extra Munitions (2)
Intelligence Agent (1)
R4 Agromech (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
Black Sun Soldier (13)
Black Sun Soldier (13)
Total: 98

The bid is nice, but I am hoping to kill the aces before it is just Xizor left. Though that may be hard without a bid, incidentally. I've been considering dropping Jammer down to FCS for that reason alone.

On the topic of PS3, you have a very good point. I'm not too worried about Scouts though. I'm very used to the YV-666's dial and I am comfortable I can get him into range one of them before they torp. If I was truly worried, I'd slap an EU on him. Though I really like your second list as well.

What are your thoughts on Stim vs. Cloaking Device? I notice you use Stims instead, which is probably the more popular choice, but I kinda like the idea of treating the Cloaking Device as a one time item that counters a U-Boat strike and let's me reposition once. And if it doesn't break, then that's just gravy. Stim is great too though, I understand why you swapped them.
