Blount Advanced Homing Missiles

By Archangelspiv, in X-Wing

This may have answered elsewhere but I cannot find it.

If Blount uses Advanced Homing missiles and the defender dodges all hits, but his ability says it still counts as a hit even if 0 damage is scored. Does that mean that he does a face up card all the time with this missile? I might have screwed it up royally, just trying to decipher what the missile says versus the intention of Blount.

Cheers!

Yep, you're dead right. If Blount with an AHM gets you in range two, you take that crit no matter what the dice say.

However... well, the ships where it's really useful to force that crit through (Phantoms, Soontir, A Wings) will avoid that zone like the plague, and have the options available to them to do just that. It'd be useful to provide a no-go zone, but given the lock element involved in getting the right crit, it's probably not something to build a hyper competitive list around

Assault Missles or Ion Pulse Missles are generally more used due to the additional range.

Thread tracers are also a good option to gain everyone else a target, But I tend to favor IPM if I am running Blount.

Cheers Macchu, thanks for the info. I was looking at a Ten Numb in an Ion Torpedo list, had spare points and had a look at blount.

Ion pulse missile puts a cloud in Soontir's day. Good against large base ships as well. Sets them up for an alpha strike by the rest of your list.
