I use a lot of techno, metal, rave, and dubstep Star Wars remixes. I used to run my games in person and would use iTunes, but I have made the switch to Roll20, and now I use Soundcloud, which while cool, really sucks. I like it that it broadcasts the music to everyone at once over the net, and not through my mic, but soundcloud is really strict on copyright issues.

Man, I thought I was hot stuff for having all the available soundtracks kinda/sorta put into playlists by mood, but you folks are bringing the A game here.

That fact alone is why I opted out of roll20 - soundcloud-only music is a poor solution given just how many great alternatives there are out there, and I told them as much. Soundcloud's handing over of the keys to a major label that allows them to police songs without arbitration is distasteful and not deserving of my money or business. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Are there any alternatives to streaming music to everyone in an online group? I do like the fact that I can set the playlist, and volume for everyone in the online group, but yeah, soundcloud is not really a good option for roll20

My choice of soundtrack for Dark Sci-Fi moments is Death Odors. I wa lucky enough to pick up probably the last copy in Melbourne years ago after hearing three tracks on it on the radio one night and ringing the station to ask where I could buy a copy. It's a compilation record of Dark Industrial music from the mostly Metal label Slaughter Records.

It's a dark and intense album, and in the end, a couple of gamers in my circle refused to play when we used this album for atmosphere as it made them too tense. I think it would be very good for Sith ruins or industrial worlds.

One could start a streaming radio station if one were so inclined. There are several options there and the technology is already pretty optimized. Having to share bandwidth with video might make this a stretch for most people though.

E.S. Posthumus records a lot of stuff with a movie trailer-type sound. Also, if your players aren't sports fans, you may be able to get away with music from NFL Films, which is very cinematic.

My group and I use Syrinscape.

Syrinscape is a subscription based service for ~$10 a month that has soundsets for several dozen settings in two different apps (one for sci-fi and one for fantasy). We just started up a Star Wars EotE campaign for my YouTube channel and I've rarely found a situation where I didn't have something to work with for sound/atmosphere. Essentially it is a loopless soundboard so you can be in the same dungeon or space station for hours and still have ambience that doesn't loop and become predictable. This'll be the 3rd campaign I've used it for and every time.

Now if you're playing a campaign that only meets like once a month or maybe you play a camp for years at a time, that money can add up if you poor folk, but I'm sure players would throw you a few bucks every month because it changes the experience at the table.

Side note* if you're interested in checking out my SW EotE campaign, you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKzvxzHYxYZKWNf4F_3IeMBa0E8HRxa5u
