Brobots still viable in todays meta?

By Samurai33, in X-Wing

Gents,

While I know metas will vary from place to place I was looking for inputs on what you think about the place of brobot lists with wave 8 now out.

I've stayed away from this list earlier and focused on imperial aces (actually never played against brobots either), but now I've discovered their brutality and would like to take them to a competitive setting. Am I too late in doing this? With so much focus on triple aces and palpmobiles can they compete?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Short answer: Yes!

The most popular build is crackstim brobots, usually B and C with HLC, Crackshot, Title, FCS, Thrusters and Glitterstim is still a very good competitive build. HOWEVER - they need to be flown well, or they die fast!

It's a demanding ship so once it lost its novelty appeal it died out a bit. You can still do very well with them, but they're not the sort of plays itself squad that'll rocket to popularity. You've got to learn those ships.

Until vets hits then they'll be hunted to extinction by defenders.

Also: Scum players who're really good at flying action-dependant Large ships who need to hunt arcs?

Those skills transfer pretty good to Jumpmasters, so I guess there's a whole lotta brobot players trying out *triple* big fat ships with massive frontal firepower, which means they're not doing the double so much right now. ;)

With Mindlink they're great.

Still good, just need a dedicated player to pilot them.
