casual imperial builds

By Bluesquad18, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Squads are for an imperial friend. He is more a casual Xwing player and will only occasionally buy a tie. He got the shuttle on eBay because it was cheaper than buying from store. He has 5 original ties mix of the core and single, punisher, shuttle, advanced, and a intercepter. He has no intention of buying the Aces or large ships. He likes to play small ships but he really liked the shuttle. He doesn't play at store tournaments either.

I realize this is casual, so anything goes, but seriously, Push the Limit on Soontir! Elusiveness is a bad card. Even in casual games, it doesn't make sense to pick a 'trap' option, whether it was intended as such or not, is irrelevant. The fact is, its a crap deal. Take a stress to force the re-roll of a single red die? Bah. If attacker has a focus token, there's a 75% chance the re-roll remains a hit and you just stressed yourself for no benefit. Even if they don't have a focus token, there's still a 50% chance you stress yourself to no effect. That's a crap way to spend 2 points and lose your EPT slot...

About the only pilots this card is worth considering on is Ezra or maybe Ibtisam (and even on them, push the limit is probably better).

Expose is another terrible card. Even on a decimator with Experimental Interface, its a pretty crummy deal. You spend 7 points, use up an action AND take a stress (from experimental interface) for +1 attack....bleh.

Marksmanship isn't great either. Especially on a ship with only 2 attack and an ability that makes her a high priority target.

Push the limit is mandatory on Soontir Fel. And so are Autothrusters.

These squads are built using only what my friend already has. I agree that soontir fel should have autothrusters and push the limit but as I've already stated this is a casual build. Please don't give suggestions for competitive builds.

I think I'll try something like this:

Krassis Trelix (36)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
Agent Kallus (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Commander Alozen (25)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
TIE/x1 (0)

"Wampa" (14)

"Chaser" (14)

Total: 100

as you aren't using push the limit on soontir might I suggest turr instead. he isn't as specific as needing a card, not just for competeative but for main use otherwise it's just an ability you won't use.

but turr will not need to be specifically built but his ability will actually get used more then for the player in casuals too

If it's only for casual play, why not just proxy the cards?

some people don't like proxying cards. I know I don't
