Loose lips and a lost cargo pod

By thecactusman17, in Star Wars: Armada

So I recently talked with a store owner who'd spoken with some folks at FFG and heard an interesting story that doesn't exactly 100% confirm a theory we had but may lend it some credence.

As some of you may remember, shortly after announcing the new ships for wave 2 China's Tianjin shipping port and surrounding city were devastated by a massive explosion at a local chemical company (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-33844084). Myself and some other speculated that the explosion may have been responsible for delaying the shipment.

According to this person I spoke to, FFG did indeed lose products shipping through the port. FFG's distributors had the products shipping in two pods, and one set of product was utterly destroyed with the container. The other was apparently lost in the massive jumble of damaged and fallen shipping containers that had to be cleaned up, inspected, and rearranged for shipping. This container is what ultimately supplied most of us in the USA, months after the planned release.

Extrapolating this, we can guess that this has been a major contributor to the shipping delays reported for many of the FFG miniatures products since and may be responsible for the current release of only two small model sets, with much of their manufacturing capacity reduced while finding new businesses or waiting for their existing partners to rebuild to full capacity.

These are only rumors through a third-party source. But it would explain the ongoing situation and slow release schedule.

Regardless, I think everyone would like to see more products soon and hopes that nobody involved with FFG or their business partners were harmed.

Wow.... sounds like Palpatines endor strategy in real life - the whole rebel fleet destroyed, and blowing up the biggest part of the Imperial fleet with it

Makes sense, but why keep this story under wraps?

Makes sense, but why keep this story under wraps?

Any number of reasons. Info of destroyed shipments could have a major affect on a number of pending or future business deals, shareholder actions, and price fluctuations.

This rumor is only posted here as just that: a third-party rumor only of interest to this board.

Ok thanks!
