DDouble DDefender ddelight!

I was messing about with some ideas to try out the new toys coming in Imperial Veterans and this looks quite promising.

38 Vessery (35)

Adaptability (0)

Tie/D title (0)

Ion Cannon (0)

36 Ryad (34)

Push the Limit (3)

Tie/x7 title (-2)

Tie Mk2 (1)

26 Omega Leader

Juke (2)

Comm Relay (3)

This list has 3 strong ships in that should work pretty well together. Vessery is the heavy hitter doing double shooting and picking up target locks from his wingmen.

Omega Leader is the late game ace and will be held slightly back from the 2 Defenders and painting targets for Vessery.

Ryad is slippery as an eel with the x7 title and Mk2 engines. With all those Greens on her dial, it will be easy for her to take 2 actions per turn in addition to her Evade token if she move at speed 3 or over. Normally one of those actions will be a TL both for her benefit and Vessery's. Since she is PS5, she can take the TL, let Vessery use it and then spend it herself when she shoots.

I am having the hardest time figuring out what I want to run in the "2 Defenders + X" archetype. One one end I've got stuff similar to your list, where X=Omega Leader. On the other end I have X=Academy Pilot, with Ryad and Maarek kitted in TIE/Ds. In the middle there could be a TAP or Interceptor as blocker, with one or both Defenders running x7.

I like it, and really wish I had the TIE MkII title for Ryad myself. The only concern is that you essentially make Vessery a VERY high priority target. I'd prefer to run dual Defenders with the same title.

I've got Ryad and Glaive x7s with 2 Academy pilots as one I want to try. :) But I know what you mean.

Vessery being the priority target is not necessarily a problem in this list. I plan to run him aggressively so he can cause as much damage as possible. Once the enemy have been whittled down a bit, Ryad will find it even easier to keep slipping about with those green Ks. Omega Leader excels in the late game when he has few opponents.

If the opponent focuses on Vessery, they risk leaving the ships who best in late game alive. If they refuse to take the bait, Vessery can keep double-firing each turn. :D

Not to add to your predicament, but don't forget the Tie Shuttle. You can Vader Shuttle, or Stress shuttle with Tactician/Rebel Captive.

I am also concerned about the offense of Vessery versus the defense of Ryad. If I were to face that list, I would put all guns on Vessery first. Killing him would be easier than killing two Academy TIEs (same number of hit points and green dice, half the number of tokens).

I would put x/7 on both of them, and Juke Vessery up. And maybe even exchange Ryad for something entirely different. Like Omicron with Palpatine and Sensor jammer. Or Vader.

I definitely want to go all-in on an Imperial Veterans list. Two Defenders and a TIE Shuttle escort should do nicely.

Scimitar Squadron Pilot (16)

+ TIE Shuttle (0)

+ Fleet Officer (3)

+ Systems Officer (2)

+ Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

I really like the idea of Vessery in a /D with Ruthlessness.

Colonel Vessery (35)

+ TIE/D (0)

+ Ruthlessness (3)

+ Tractor Bean (1)

Though there are enough points for a cool Rexlar, Vessery's PS with the Tractor Bean make that pairing less than ideal. Maarek can take Adaptability down to PS6 which also lets Vessery strip shields so he can get [crits] through. Something like this, perhaps.

Maarek Stele (35)

+ TIE/D (0)

+ Ion Cannon (3)

+ Adaptability (0)

That's 99 points, so you could give either Defender a Mk. II engine or take an initiative bid.

The Countess could be outfitted similarly, with something like Crack Shot for her EPT; alternatively with PtL in an /x7, which also leaves enough room for a Hull Upgrade on Vessery.

Imperial Veterans looks to be an absolute blast to play.

How about a triple Defender list? Do you think Omega Leader would be better then a Delta with the X7 Title?

Something like;

Vessery (36)

-Tie/D

-Adaptability

-Tractor Beam

Ryad (36)

-Tie/X7

-PtL

-Tie MKII

Delta (28)

-Tie/X7

Omega leader does have the advantage of being ideally suited to feeding Vessery target locks.

On a practical note, I would also have to buy another Defender. :P

Buff shuttle is better than OL, the enemy will have to kill it first or be forced to get past alot of tokens to do damage.
