Breaking down doors

By daveceaser, in Anima Rules Questions

So, looking in the rule book there are rules for breaking down doors with weapons to destroy it. These rules state you have to have a minimum base damage to even hurt the door. How about bashing a door down with tour shoulder so to speak. You wouldn't have enough base damage. Would you use feat of strength against a difficulty set by the GM?

On a separate note, I heard reference to a Core Exxet book in Spanish. Pretty sure no more books will come out in English through FFG. What will happen then? What other Spanish books have not been published in English yet?

Per official rules: You would just never be able to break the door down, period. Like they say in the chapter "Naturally, not all weapons will be able to destroy objects. It would be illogical to think that a simple knife can tear down a heavy stone wall, for example" (Core 218; CE 236). So, that's it. Game over, man. Feats of Strength might be able to help you, maybe, if your GM is incredibly lenient. The reason I say this is because, officially, it's a bit murky. Feats of Strength, per Core Exxet, can increase your Strength by up to +4 (though it's capped at limits like Inhumanity and Zen), but the context of the quote seems to imply that such increases are only for increased weight lifting. However, the flavor text also implies that it can help you do other things which aren't weightlifting which, presumably, means it could increase your base damage enough to overcome the barrier, but Feats of Strength is both tiring and dangerous because it whittles away at your Fatigue. Here's the Spanish text from Core Exxet, which goes over things a lot better than the English Core

Which means...

This skill gives the character the best possible return on their own physical strength, letting them know exactly how to best flex their muscles with precision to achieve amazing feats. It does not mean that the person is stronger, only that it allows them to obtain a better portion of their physical potential in extreme moments. If the person wishes, they can try to increase their strength and therefore lifting capacity for a maximum of a few moments, bend metal bars, lift cars, or other incredible things. To calculate how to use this appropriately with the weight ratio table in Chapter 6, use table 14, whose effects last between two to five turns. If a person uses Feats of Strength more than once per minute, they automatically lose a point of Fatigue for each additional use.
These modifiers do no permit Strength augmentation above 10 without Inhumanity or Zen.

So... there's some room for interpretation, but only so much. Generally, Feats of Strength isn't given the ability to boost damage by GMs (or at least not in my experience), though I suppose if your GM wants to let you do so then it's up to them. ^_^

Hope this helps.

Oh, and as for Spanish texts, currently the only texts out in Spanish that aren't in English are

Core Exxet

Gaia 2: Behind the Mirror

Though there are also the 3 Web Addendums, Dramatis Personae, and a few other minor documents which aren't in English either, but are still official publications. and then, of course, there are still the 5-6 other books AS plans to release which... well, we'll see. The big question everyone's been asking for months is what's going to happen to Anima in English with FFG seemingly pulling all support from the franchise. Only time will tell, it seems.
