36 point one ship event - Imperial list

By Goseki1, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My local board game store is holding a little May 4th event where you can field one ship for a maximum of 36 points, each win gets you a point, most points wins. I have to imagine a regen rebel will win but I don't really have the ships and cards for rebels.

Small ships I have are/ Tie/FOs, Tie Defender, Tie Advanced,Tie advanced Prototype and a phantom.

I was thinking one of the three lists below but grateful for suggestions on this.

Omega Leader

Juke

Stealth device

Comm relay = 29

Or

Darth Vader

Veteran instincts

Engine upgrade

Title

Advanced targeting computer = 35

Or

The Inquisitor

Push the limit

Homing missiles

Autothrusters

Tie/v1 title = 36

What about:

"Echo"

Veteran Instincts

Advanced Cloaking Device

A Phantom should be quite effective at outmaneuvering one ship, and packs a larger punch.

Of the three ships above, I don't actually have any of those pilots, but the Darth Vader idea seems promising.

Of the three, I feel like you'll probably get the most out of Vader. One on one, it will be really difficult to keep the inquisitor at range 3 but have your target still in arc, which is then a waste of his ability. OL is a good pilot, but a little squishy, although the stealth device DOES help. And he will be difficult to hit. Vader offers you action economy, and a slippery pilot without extra stress. I would also suggest that, in a one ship tournament, maybe you take expert handling? You'll be able to barrel roll and still get another move, while shedding the target lock that you will invariably have on you. (Stick it to any OTHER Omega Leaders out there...)

Either way, it'll be tough to go up against a TLT with any of these ships...

Expert handling actually sounds like an excellent idea on Vader.ill definitely swap that in. I think I agree that he'll likely do best with his ability compared to the Inquisitor who really only benefits at range 3.

I'd considered a phantom but don't really fancy the chances of one without full upgrades to be honest.

Here are a few suggestions.

No use of spoiled cards:

Onyx Squadron Pilot with Stealth Device

The Inquisitor in the TIE/v1 with Juke, Stealth Device, and Proton Rockets

Vader in the TIE/x1 with Predator, Stealth Device, and Advanced Targeting Computer

Dark Curse with a Stealth Device to just irritate people

If you can use Imperial Veterans:

Countess Ryad in the TIE/x7 with Juke and Twin Ion Engine Mk II (everything is Green!)

Delta Squadron Pilot in the TIE/D with Ion Cannon and Stealth Device

Tomax Bren with Crack Shot, Extra Munitions, Homing Missiles, Thermal Detonators, and Guidance Chips (swap out bombs for Proton Rockets)

Gamma Squadron Pilot with Predator, Extra Munitions, Flechette Torps, Homing Missiles, Proton Bombs, and Guidance Chips

Darth Vader (36)

Juke (2)

TIE/x1 (0)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Advanced Targeting Computer (1/5)

Countess Ryad in the TIE/x7 with Juke and Twin Ion Engine Mk II (everything is Green!)

Who says its not that easy being green? ;)

EH seems to be good, Lone Wolf is better - since there won't be much friendlies around.

What about:

"Echo"

Veteran Instincts

Advanced Cloaking Device

If you're going to do "Echo", I suggest:

"Echo" (30)

+ Fire-Control System (2)

+ Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

+ Adrenaline Rush (1)

+ Intelligence Agent (1)

With aces likely to appear all the way up to PS11 (see VI Vader), going from PS6 to 8 yourself doesn't do anything. Intel Agent is a nice substitute, allowing you to look at a higher PS ship's dial and use your de-cloak wisely. Since you also won't necessarily be firing first, SPA gives you an Evade token though you will only be shooting every other round. Fire-Control System helps bump up your offense, though you do have to maintain targets (Sensor Jammer would be preferable, but there aren't enough points). Finally, Adrenaline Rush gives you even more surprises by letting you pull a k-turn without taking stress.

May not work, but with only 1 other ship to worry about, I might try this

TIE Phantom: Shadow Squadron Pilot (27)

Sensor Jammer (4)

Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

ยท Agent Kallus (2)

Just cloak/decloak every turn for the evade and be patient, let 4 attack dice and agent Kallus work.

Countess Ryad in the TIE/x7 with Juke and Twin Ion Engine Mk II (everything is Green!)

Better still, PTL instead of Juke, comes to 36 points exactly. 2 actions and a free evade token every turn and 14 green maneuvers to shed the stress.

Who says its not that easy being green? ;)

I think Lone Wolf may be better.

Thanks for the comments all. I think I'll definitely be going with Darth Vader, I don't really feel confident flying a Phantom. Lone Wolf seems like it would work really well so will likely take that overall Other EPT as well.

These are both 36 points.

Corran Horn, VI

or

Contracted Scout, Deadeye, Proton torpedoes, extra munitions, Feedback Array, R4 agromech, guidance chips
(optional, remove feedback and toss in Boba fett+inertial dampners)

Good luck and let us know how it went!

Also, OP noted what ships they had, there's a lot of suggestions using ships and upgrade cards they don't own...

If I were you, I'd expect to see at least one Soontir Fel there and practice against the most common builds of him accordingly (Push The Limit, AutoThrusters, Royal Guard title, Stealth Device/Targeting Computer). For Rebels, a nasty regen ship would be a simple K-wing Miranda with a TLT or Poe with R5-P9 and VI.

Yeah, actually, anything you can put Rebel Captive on would be a good choice, actually. If they shoot, they get a stress. If they clear it, then PTL, then shoot, they get two stress.

Note to self.. always run RC in a 1v1.

I have experience with single ship builds and I can attest to the fact that any interceptor, Rebel or Imperial, is a go to for this format. An arc dodger against a single ship is never going to be hit unless there's a 360 arc (Autothrusters), or you're playing against another Rebel or Imperial interceptor, phantom, Inquisitor, or Anakin with Engine Upgrade.

Look into Turr Phenir, Fel, Vader, Jake Farrell, Tycho, Echo, Carnor Jax, and The Inquisitor. Don't forget Autothrusters, PTL, Veteran Instincts, and Engine Upgrade where needed. Having access to two actions is a must.

I really don't see Omega Leader losing to anyone. Evade first round, TL next, focus/BR rest of game.

You have zero modifications going towards your ship, and you basically have a free crackshot every round.
Omega leader is MADE for 1v1.

I've had issues beating regen rebels with Omega Leader one on one. Also not sure how his green dice will do against anyone bringing a Phantom.

Deathrain (26+10)

Enhanced Scopes (1)

Extra Munitions (2)

Cluster Missiles (4)

Proximity Mines (3)

Guidance Chips (0)

1v1 lols

edit - when you can get close enough, dropping a proximity mine out the front guides directly onto an interceptor is enough to one-round explode it. 3 red dice and no defense dice is nasty on a shieldless ship.

If I had a Punisher I'd love to give it a go. Fully expecting a regeneration rebel ship to win quite easily to be honest.

Amusingly spoken like it's going to happen more than once out of a hundred games. Interceptors, be them Rebel, Imperial, or Scum have a dial designed to dog fight. You must have zero experienced players in your group if they can't arc dodge a single ship for an entire game, much less a TIE Punisher...

Stats, dice, jousting, none of that matters if you never even get an opportunity to apply any of it.

One ship it would be Soontir with the usual set up.

I also don't have an Interceptor, cheers.

Sorry, I like to have fun playing a game. Also, not really sure you know how to use Deathrain, but whatever.

How's this for giggles?

TIE Bomber (35) - PS 10

Tomax Bren

Veteran Instincts (1)

TIE Shuttle (0)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Darth Vader (3)

Rebel Captive (3)

OR the PS8 version, replace VI with Lightning Reflexes. Every single white/green maneuver is now basically a K-turn/sloop/talon roll.

Mmm, yeah. I like that second one a LOT for a 36 point 1v1. I'd take that against Soontir in a head to head.

edit- admittedly, that is just a Soontir killer. Doubt it would fare well against much else.

edit 2- super full of proxy too, until IV hits shelves.
