Finally some info on Wave 3 GOZANTI

By Mogrok, in Star Wars: Armada

Agent Kalkus works with Quad Laser Turrets? Could be a great combo dealing with Rebel Ace's.

It would work, but relies on them attacking you.

I like Kallus more with the Raider title that lets you attack a squadron 2x.

Could toss quad turrets on it also. Just a giant middle finger to squadrons.

Suppressor will be common. Probably the strongest card in this pack. It is not limited in how many times it works. You could potentially impact multiple ships in a turn. If it's on the table, it will be a priority target.

Slicer tools + tractor beam (on a bigger ship as flotilla< small ship?) should basically turn off Demos nav commands.

It only works at distance 3, but is after you move, so should be effective, and with scatter token you should probably survive the angry nuking demo then unleashes!

Sorry if someone has already made this point

Well, Flotilla = Small Ship.

For ALL PURPOSES barring ONE exception, as listed in their Rules re: Overlapping.

I'll have to try running Suppressor close alongside an Avenger ISD-II.

Suppressor exhausts the brace on say an MC80 and this ignores the ECM on the Rebel ship. Avenger then pulls the trigger and the XI7s drill through the facing shield into the hull.

Are you sure they are a small ship? Is this because they are on a small ship base?

Great idea!

Another thought - do we think there will be a new Offensive Retrofit in this pack? Most ships come with at least one upgrade for each slot.

I wonder if the rebel version will have the defensive retrofit as a counterpoint?

That, and:

If the intent was for them not to be a Small Ship, then I'm pretty sure they would have a line that says they are not a small ship.

I'm inclined to agree that it counts as a small ship, despite that the quick-reference card says "follow the same rules as other ships" and not "follow the same rules as small ships" - this is because the quick-reference cards have always been a bit general and not solid rules. We won't know for certain until the FAQ comes out, of course, but this is my hunch.

That being said, it does not necessarily mean that all flotillas (i.e., future ones) are small ships. It's possible we get a future flotilla that is medium sized (or bigger).

Fair point, and again, I agree in principle. I do doubt we'll see medium-or-larger sized flotillas, however, but the possibility is there.

I mean that and the article they posted today that says, "As we noted in the announcement of Armada Wave III, the flotilla from the Imperial Assault Carriers Expansion Pack enters the game as a new type of small-base ship that features two miniatures and uses all the standard ship rules with an exception for the way that they function in collisions."

I can also confirm from seeing them at Adepticon that they are on small ship bases.

Right Except we do know for certain it is a small ship because ship rules indicate that the SIZE of the ship is determined by the base it comes with/sits on.

Just that wouldn't preclude the rules text that comes with them defining a new type of ship that wasn't any of the existing 3 sizes. But as others have pointed out, the new article DOES explicitly call them out as small ships, so the question should be settled.

I absolutely dread the threads that are going to crop up when they get released asking if Motti adds 1 hull for each miniature, for a net gain of 2...

I snuck out of work to read the article :)

I was hesitantly optimistic before. Now I am outright excited.

So, eight upgrades per set. Assuming the original article cards are still there and the commander counts as an upgrade:

Gozanti

- Tagge

- Comms Net

- Bomber Command

- Slicer Tools

- Jamming field

- Agent Kallus

- Suppressor

- Vector

- ie everything is now shown?

GR75

- Commander ???

- Toryn Farr

- Repair Crews

- Title #1

- Title #2

- Comms Net

- 2 more upgrades either common with the Gozanti or unique to the GR75

Hoping Comms Net is the only common upgrade myself but lets wait and see!

Heh, I posted almost the same thing a couple of hours ago :D

Bomber Command I feel is going to carry over to the Rebel Side, as well....

Ok full acknowledgement to Dras!

Bomber command is definitely a go to for Rebels, but I guess they figure most people will buy at least one of both sets.

Well, I figure its Repair Crews on the Rebel Side thats unique... But it might even be Comms Net that's Unique to the Imperial Side, since the Rebels already have their Token-Transfer Shenanigans, this might not step on those toes...

Does anyone know which card was designed by the winner of Worlds last year? I saw how they announced Boba Fett (crew) for X-wing, is that how it typically goes, with a full article discussing the one card, or will it be part of the larger reveal?

Well, we'll have to wait until after-release for an Actual Clarification...

I just feel you're asking more of a 2pt Card that should really be expected :D

I agree. It seems fairly obvious to me. You pick your target, then if it's a squadron the attack becomes obstructed. The obstruction will have no affect on your target picking before you declare the target, therefore you wont be able to choose a ship if you are engaged by non-heavy squadron. Though I guess for the brief moment of the attack you might not engaged (this will need clearification since it will affect swarm).

It likely will not need clarification for swarm. You are only obstructed for that attack not any other engagements. Swarm just requires the you are engaged with another squadron.

It can take years for the Worlds winner's card to get into the game, since the design process is fairly involved and planned ahead. Usually the card itself says "designed by 20** world champion x.....x." Ususally in a preview article the card designer also gets some acknowledgement.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking it through completely when I said that as it would be inconsistent. I was in too much of a hurry! :P

So how much more important is gunnery teams now, given you'll likely have a flotilla with a pretty insane ability to pop, but then also a fully armed and operational ship to shoot as well, or squads... not to mention some way to fish for accuracy

A way to fish for accuracy will be important for ships that don't get them fairly reliably anyway. Your MC80 or ISD with built-in rerolls can probably forego the H9's--your MC30 will probably want them if you want to use it for flotilla-plinking.

I don't expect GT to really increase in importance. I don't see much difference in the incentivization to take them if you expect to have 2 ships in one arc or 15--either way, you want to take two shots into that arc.
