Finally some info on Wave 3 GOZANTI

By Mogrok, in Star Wars: Armada

Vader + 12 Gozanti-AC, 24 red dice with re-rolls, death of 1000 cuts build, I am sure someone will do it lol

Yeah this is exactly why 5 more points.

even with 10 flotillas all throwing CF that's 20 red dice, if you can get a significant portion of those on the same target and roll decently (or vader) suddenly it starts getting ugly. Imagine if they were cheaper and you could cram in some more

These things are game changers. As expected. And while I can see them slightly helping DeMSU builds, I can also see them hindering. Sure you can take out the 30pt flotilla I sent after your Demo that's posting for a triple tap. Enjoy that squadron command.

Or for more my build style, Goz exhausts a def token so the fireball has an even easier time shredding the demo in the squad phase.

in any case, these upgrades kick the skill cap of the game up a notch for sure

And remember that a majority of these will be going after the opponent activates and moves toward them. Additionally, even the strongest ships can only kill 1 Gozanti a turn due to scatter in the best of circumstances. This means you will get a second round of shooting.

why are we paying $20 MSRP (15$ online) for two little dinky ships that we need like 3x multiples of?? Does anyone else find this totally absurd? These things are tiny. This is seriously piracy, xwing tie fighters are way bigger and less plastic and a much more involved model. And those are $15 each.

I'm pretty unhappy about this price. Probably going to have to buy online to save $20 bucks.

Can't the Scatter command still be cancelled by an Accuracy result?

I know I'm overlooking the obvious, but: what does the jammer do for me that I should ever consider including it? Why do I want an obstruction that only takes place when the squadron is attacking or defending against a squadron*? That doesn't sound like it should break engagements, so what is it good for? To tie up rhymerballs a bit longer as killing speedbump squadrons takes more shots, sure, but aside from that...

What am I missing?

*Should I read that as "attacking anything" or "attacking a squadron"?

Ah WHAT!

I cant put an admiral on a flotilla! Devestated.

They have to make them that much to make up for the lost economy of scale from the other held back SKUs they aren't allowed to release or couldn't manage to devote time to.

Why not?

No Ship has the "Admiral" slot. Because Every Ship has the "Admiral" slot, and may be a Flagship....

Yknow thats kinda fair.

But still, most horrendous overpricing. I'm worried for the future of my wallet.

this again? You don't HAVE to buy anything. If it's not worth it to you, don't buy it.

True, I shouldn't have said best results. Best results they could kill two a turn. This would require two in arc of each ship, accuracy for each shot, enough hits to cut through the other defense tokens.

Well, it means TIE Bombers can't actually Shoot at Squadrons, so if they don't have Intel, they can't shoot ships...

Halves the Firepower of enemy Y-Wings...

Thirds B-Wings... (Drops them to Y-Wing Level)

Quarters X-Wings... (Makes them B-Wings!)

he just vaporized

Edit: But seriously, what did you honestly expect the price to be? Nothing in this game is cheaper than $20. Spoiler... All the next waves also won't be cheaper than $20.

really? Where does it say that?

No commander icon?

Another thing is it will be even harder to table opponents, meaning most games will ho to round 6 and objective choices is all that more important.

Well, if you are covered by an intel field and have no intention of engaging in squadron combat (for eg you have a bevy of bombers covered in intel and everyone is shooting at a ship) and the enemy squadrons enage within the jammer field their effectiveness is significantly reduced meaning increased staying power for your bombers.

Well, an Armada ship base *is* much more complicated and expensive than an X-Wing small ship base. I'm not suggesting it's $5 more, but it must add something.

It's almost like a mobile Gallant Haven effect, it just effects everyone. Combined with Gallant Haven and that would be some tough to kill squadrons.

Amazing.

I dont look at the cards just let the list building websites prevent me adding illegal cards.

Leia and Rieekan on a flotilla spamming cf commands. Salvations best friend.

I think - as much as we want 3 flotillas, we're going to have a hard time fitting that many into a 400 point fleet. Just like how I want multiple Xmas tree ISDs plus a heavy fighter complement - the points just aren't available for all the ships and upgrades I would like to equip.

I do wonder what wave three will do to activations and deployments. It's going to be possible to have two ISDs in a four or five activation list, with good fighter cover. Demo lists could go to insane numbers of activations. The fighter game is just going explode and the utility of some of the upgrades are going to be a bit mind blowing.

Strangely I think wave three with its two dinky ships may bring as profound a change to the game as all the ships in wave two.

I do think the focused last/first activation demo list may be the biggest loser in wave 3, as you will just not know how many activations your opponents will have, and these boys will be easy to kill if you take a swarm of them to support Demo, losing any activation advantage very quickly.

I'll probably buy two of each and call it a day.
