It was ok, but not really convincing with his whole stormtrooper background, not wanting to kill anymore and shooting tons of his friends 20 minutes later in the movie. It was not prequel movie level dialog bad, because they at least give them funny moments, decent enough dialogs, etc, but still weak.

Compared that to Jar Jar Binks constantly get mistaken for a Jedi, destroying tanks, spaceships and saving the day, while ******* the princess (well, queen) and teaching Mace Windu a lesson or two. Nah,. Finn has a lot of catch up to do, even to Representative Binks, who most likely was force sensitive, but neither Sith nor Jedi.

Oh the sequels deserve absolutely time, but I give Lukas one thing that I will not give Abrahams. Courage to do something new, even when someone really should have had the courage to tell both guys to stop writing scripts.

It's good that JJ is gone, because if he would have done another two of those than his JJ initials might have become more hated than that other JJ.

They played it save and boring, which is silly, but ok when done just once.

I think TCW gave the prequel movies legs to stand on. The character development in the prequel movies happens a lot off screen which is bad movie making, but once those background stories are there it becomes … still bad, but a lot more interesting to watch.

I would guess not. 1. I believe FFG had said they were not planning on going back to the prequels. 2. There is so much content moving forward that going that far back might not be necessary and 3. Lots of fans hate the prequels and it would be pretty controversial and I would guess not great for the game/community.

There are some balance issues around that and furthermore Jedi and Sith as faction would make sense, with separatist forces as part of the sith and the empire as well, while the republic, alliance and restiance are all jedi forces.

Scum as 3rd faction in the star wars galaxy is very fitting, because they were always the third faction fighting sith and jedi for thousands of years. The separatists? Puppets in sith hands, and very fitting that the republic ends the second when the jedi lose to the sith and becomes the empire while the old puppet gets burned by the sith.

There is still a good amount of ships, but the droid swarms might be the right thing for X-Wing. They should work just fine for armada though.

Vulture Droid fighters could always go the flotilla route that they are doing with Armada, a couple fighters per base, and then have the base cost 12 points or so.

Best prequel vehicles were pod racers.... they actually was pretty cool and can be easily converted to a game with X-Wing like mechanics. I playtested my game with 5 other people, we did a one lap race and 2 pods blew up.. now that was entertaining!

And yes TFA was not a vast improvement on anything, more a reskin, maybe best called a wrinkly reskin.

Really hope FFG do a "The Clone Wars" game. Both for dogfighting and capital ships. While compatible with X-Wing, it is it's own thing with it's own factions. Only Scum and Villainy are truly cross compatible. Force Ability cards as upgrades for Jedi and Sith ships, much like Elite Pilot talents.

I would love to have clone wars stuff in the game, but it is unlikely because so many people foolishly believe that the new Disney stuff is better than the prequel stuff. Heck, so far Binks had been a more entertaining character than Fin despite his lousy use in the prequel movies.

Much as I'd like to have Jedi Interceptors, ARC-170s, and so forth, I just don't see an interesting faction to oppose them.

Not my fault that they wrote Finn as a boring caricature of a human being, while Jar Jar was hilarious when not written by Gorge Lukas. I like the idea of Finn, I love Finn's background: Elite unit, anti-jedi training, one weak squad member which everyone in the squad tries to protect, the guys is the trooper who dies in the beginning of TFA and traumatizes Finn because it is basically his fault.

But what did they with Finn in the movie? Not interesting, downright absurd in many ways and not working for me at all. A good character destroyed by the constrains of a Hollywood blockbuster script. It really sucks that the only origin stories we get are those which have been told a thousand times before. Everyone else gets a rushed and irrational character development. Which by the way is the biggest problem with the prequel movies as well; The character development sucks so hard because it so rushed and mostly off-screen. In case of TFA it not even off-screen because there is little breather time off-screen, it is just rushed. Luckily it is a least a rush of star wars spectacle, so it worth watching once, the goal of the movie was achieved.

You make it sound like a bad idea and yet I totally would buy it. And I would have to buy it like 10 times to give away all my (not yet) X-Wing playing friends who are totally suckers for TIE-Fighter. So please don't do it, my wallet would get hurt. And please do it, I so much want this expansion.

Because the worst complaint most people have about tfa is its a remake, where as the prequels ruined star wars for a decade.

My only complaint about TFA was the Death Star Mk III. Completely unnecessary and was completely ludicrous in what it did that even saying it's "science fiction" cannot justify it.

But like my complaints about the prequel trilogy, it has absolutely nothing to do with a tabletop miniatures game. Nothing to do with men and women spending their free time moving toys around a space themed mat or kitchen table rolling dice. Hate the movies if you like, but why should Jar Jar Binks stop you enjoying Arc-170s battling a swarm of Vulture Droids? Why should crybaby sissy Anakin stop you enjoying a dogfight between a Jedi and Sith Starfighter?

If you're going to refuse to play games with prequel ships, let it be because you don't like the ships. Nobody is saying you have to like the movies to play. I've never watched Battlestar Galactica, but if FFG created a BSG game like X-Wing you can be sure I'd get both a human and Cylon fleet. Because they look cool.

The Jedi Academy Trilogy Released in 1994 and follow by dozen of potential even worse garbage like NJO and Yuzang-Wong war.

TPM released in 1999. Followed up by another two ok-ish movies and an already ******* awesome "Star Wars: Clone Wars" in 2003, released as full animated movie on DVD in iirc 2005. If you want to be really pedantic than the EU 'ruined' star wars for about just as long as the bad EU releases did. If you are not pedantic than star wars was never ruined, but had just a phase of not so releases. Which ironically could summarize the late eighties as well when the EU and Dark Empire "saved' star wars, which is even more ironic as Dark Empire is in many ways really, really terrible.
