Happy Friday Countess Ryad is a beast

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

I have been playing a couple test games against three Scouts and Ryad took 1 part its was a thing of beauty to always have a shot, dodge, focus and k-turn, So happy with this Defender,

Also 5 Rookie Squads (if they were 20 a piece) is really strong.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and be excellent to each other.

Oh and the Defender might be my new fav ship.

A little early but always welcome. I might actually get a game in this weekend.

It's Friday somewhere... Not quite as true as It's 5'oclock somewhere...

Happy Friday!

I had a great game night. I played Mission 1 with the Senator's shuttle last night. I played as Scum on the attack in the first game. It was my first time with the Misthunter and Zuckass. I had a great time and it was a close game. Two more turns and he would've done it, but I had him at that point. It was funny as no ship died, except the Shuttle.

Second game had me as Rebels for the first time. I flew a bunch of generics, including bomber Y-wings with Conner Nets. It was my first time using Conner Nets and I was pretty stupid. I set myself up so that one of my Z-95's ran into the net right after dropping it. Such an idiot! Well, there was a huge bumpage in the middle, especially with a Firespray blocking things. I finally killed it....but lost the shuttle. It was a good game, but I could've done a lot better.

There was enough interest in the Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign. We had two games going on with a few new people playing in them. I had started a 2nd character for those times when I would be playing with lower PS guys. So, I pulled out my PS 2 X-wing pilot and with two other guys, we went to town. The rest took Guidance Chip and Torpedoes and I didn't realize how brutal it would be to turn one into a critical hit every time. Proton Torpedoes are pretty nasty that way! We just played the first mission as it was one guys first time. With my XP, I ended up buying Ion Torpedo as it will just be brutal in that campaign. I had to show one guy the card because he didn't believe it was that nasty since no one ever used it around him before.

After all that, I left early to get home and record Episode 2 of the Shuttle Tydirium podcast! The first one is done editing and we just need to get it posted! Glad to hear all that and hope the first one is going to hit the streets soon. I had a blast on the second one. We ran out of time with still so much more to talk about. Added a new segment called "Rant-wing".

I can't wait for Veterans to go live. Defenders will be my default setup. Waiting since wave III to say that (The promise of defenders is what lured me).

Yeah, I always liked the Tie Defenders before and flew them often enough. It should be fun to see them on the table. I think it will be nice to have some Imperial options that are something other than Vader, Soontir, Wampa, and the Inquisitor. It will be nice to have an Imp ship that's kind of beefy.

For the tournament sunday I'm flying Colzet and a crack swarm.

I really hate flying FOTM. But ... Defenders.

Happy Friday! Need to work half an hour or an hour more or so and then there is the bliss of two days of...

home improvements.... :(

Tested this squad last night. Absolutely terrifying. A Defender's beefiness plus three dice behind a focus + evade is so evil. Empire finally has a small-based ship that can just run straight at the enemy, take shots, and deliver deadly return fire! Vessery is good, everyone knows this. Countess was very awesome. A good blocker and very mean to anything with lower PS. This is definitely going to be a new competitive way to fly PalpAces.

Why x7 Vess over x7 Maarek? I feel like without the D title and with Palp Maarek will win out.

You should run stele instead of vessary because you don't have a whole lot of target lock synergy, the Countess is probably going to focus or roll more often then lock, and you probably wanna focus your shuttle too. Plus the pilot skill boost puts you over brobots

All good points. I just love Juke x7 Vessery. While Maarek's ability and PS are nice, he doesn't have as much offensive modification as Vessery. Vessery will at best have target lock, focus, Palp, and Juke. Maarek at best will have all that minus a target lock. With only one green dice, focus isn't a must have on the shuttle. Two other target locking ships seems to be fine. I will test it out with Maarek though.

I also like to think of the worst-case scenario. Say Maarek has to spend the focus defensively. Juke Maarek has no offensive mods except for Palp. Same thing happens to Vessery in that situation, he could have a target lock to modify in addition to Palp. Maarek rolls three blanks. That focus ain't doing much good.

Tractor beamed a full health Miranda right off the board last night. A fine way to get Friday going, IMO.

You do realize there are alot of countries in the Americas.

To clarify, do you mean you tractor beamed her into a position where she couldn't choose a maneuver that kept her on the board?
