What do you do with the other 25 points in your Crack Swarm

If you take 5 Black Pilots with crack shot for 75 points. - Crack Swarm

What do you do with the other 25 points? I have tried Howelrunner and Omega Leader, but I don't love either of them.

I drop down to four Black Squadrons, which frees up 40 points for Omega Leader and Wampa.

Another popular option has been three Black Squadron TIEs, Howlrunner, and two Omega Squadron TIE/fo Fighters, all with Crack Shot.

Doom shuttle clocks in at 24pts, and is a big threat to the Aces that are going to be threatening your crack swarm.

Tomax Bren and Crackshot = 25

2 academies gives you numbers and blocking power against scouts and the mirror match.

I drop down to four Black Squadrons, which frees up 40 points for Omega Leader and Wampa.

This has my vote. The carrier is my next purchase to run this exact list.

I'd swear your squad sounds racist. But I digress. How about Zeta Leader with Wired and comms Relay for 24pts?

I like it like this:

3xAP

3xBSP+cs

Howl+cs.

That gets you 7 ties, 4 crackshots and howl rerolls. Only just started trying it out. Works like a charm so far.

Zeta Leader with Wired and either of the tech upgrades has my vote. Or at least it did until I saw Calibri Garamond's post:

I like that list where the Omegas are Mauler and Scourge.

Makes the formation flying a smidge trickier but the chance at extra offense dice is probably worth more than the extra shields.

Post Vets this is also worth thinking about.

Gamma Squadron Vet + Crackshot + Homing Missile + Long Range Scanners = 25 points

If nothing else it's a massive area of effect control against Soontir, or whoever else it is you tag with a Target Lock on turn 1.

Makes the formation flying a smidge trickier but the chance at extra offense dice is probably worth more than the extra shields.

But you're getting more than shields. A way better dial with S-loops and TL's for late game offense when Howlie is gone.

"Zeta Leader" — TIE/fo Fighter 20

Weapons Guidance 2
Ship Total: 25

Is also a decent choice if you want steady damage throughout the game.

I like:

26 Omega Leader w/ Juke, Comms.

14 Wampa.

60 (4x) Black w/ Crackshot.

All the other options are great, but they don't address a crackswarm's weaknesses, they just make it better at what it already does well.

Wampa is cheap, PS4 and has an amazing ability. He lets you damage the stuff TIEs normally couldn't, and draws aggro like crazy. Omega Leader is one of the best endgame ships available ATM for his cost, and (like Wampa) also lets you threaten aces, and other difficult to hit targets. If you get OL 1v1 in the endgame, it's pretty much an auto-win most of the time.

It also looks more pleasing (to me, anyway) that it's a 'pure' TIE/ln squad

  • Howlrunner - Crack Shot
  • Mauler Mithel - Crack Shot
  • Scourge - Crack Shot
  • Black Squadron Pilot - Crack Shot
  • Black Squadron Pilot - Crack Shot
  • Black Squadron Pilot - Crack Shot

It has it's advantages. You lose out on shields and the dial compared to omega squadron pilots, but you gain potential extra attack dice, and most importantly you gain higher PS. Remember that unlike Youngster/Rage, Howlrunner still has to be alive at the point the other ship is firing, which can sometimes cost you with generic wingmen.

Oh no no sorry, the original list I mentioned. 3 Blacks, 2 Omegas, Howlrunner.

For people like me who can't mix in Tie FOs, here's my list I have had sucess with and Am hopefully bringing to regionals.

3 Black Squadrons with Crackshot

Howlrunner with Crackshot

Wampa with Hull upgrade (has saved him multiple times, but I am considering Targeting Computer for inititave)

Dark Curse with stealth device

I vote for the Omega, Wampa, and four BS pilots version.
