Fear checks are a good option when facing something like a Rancor. If the Wookie Marauder is Min/Max it won't be that uncommon for him to roll 3 Threat on a Hard Fear check and be Staggered for a round.

As to the original post, it seems like Sunder/Pierce/Breach already cover most of what you're trying to accomplish, and adding an option to Sunder their armor would work pretty well.

There's nothing wrong with the rancor that can't be fixed by applying the Nemesis Initiative talent and about 10 ranks of Durable.

Ten ranks of Durable? There's nothing in this game that can't be unbalanced by ten ranks of almost any talent.

FFG's SWRPGs are no more prone to breaking at high level than are most RPGs.

Care to elaborate? Sure, it takes some adjustments, but I'm not recalling any RPG that doesn't. I haven't played them all but I've had the good fortune to play a great number of different games.
