Every Announced Card is Spoiled.

By TasteTheRainbow, in X-Wing

If they announced that Wave 9 is coming and said "we can't say what's in it yet" what does that yield? Would that qualify as an "announcement" to make all of those "It's been so long since the release of Wave 8!" whiners happy? I don't think so.

Although it may not make some people happy I'd be fine if they waited to start spoiling anything about Wave 9 until it is a least "on the boat" and for those who are looking an new online pricing this would give stores a boost if they get, and can start selling, the product about the same time the online stores can start taking orders.

They haven't officially done that, to be fair, but Alex Davy has said on 2 podcasts now that Wave 9 is "in the can" and that they are moving ahead with the next products.

They are almost always out 1-2 waves, especially including the large ships and the ace packs. They are just super good at keeping secrets.

Yup yup consider that all of those hidden cards that we can't see in a wave or product announcement are 100% finished before we get that annoucement. There are small corner cases where we have seen text change but it's rare. The NEXT major release is near completion BEFORE we get an announcement for the upcoming one.

This is what makes me think that Wave 9 is a TFA/Rogue one wave.

Tight lips and all.

Either that or Asmodee has put the brakes on new releases.

It would not be wave 9 that would have been its own release. To be honest TFA was not really a part of Wave 8. They didn't even come out in the same year as Wave 8. <_<

04/05 is coming, brace thyselves!

Don't be silly, that was 23 days ago.

I often forgot that whether month or day comes first in a date varies between countries like metric.

it goes

dd/mm/yyyy in metric

mm/dd/yyyy for 'Murricans

and my favourite

yyyy/mm/dd used by some japanese friends of mine, it seems to be their standard (and it's goddamn logical!)

For what it's worth, I spoke with Frank and Alex earlier this week; wave 9 is done and they are working on wave 10.

I did not speak with anyone, but will assume that wave 11 will follow wave 10.

You say the next article will be Wave 9...

Then I think I can speak for a lot of people here when I say this:

GUNBOAT!!!

I am hoping for Scum epic/aces to be released after imperial veterans, before wave 9

That would be nice. Anything to boost the efficiency of my beloved Starviper would be most welcome.

I actually suspect it. But I suspect New Movie stuff more.

I'm calling it now,

May 4th announcement for Epic Scum (Jabba's Yacht w/Scyk) and Wave 9 (Wookiee AntiSlaver, TIE/sf, Resistance Transport, Upsilon Shuttle).

Before September, announcement for Scum Aces (StarViper, HWK) and Rebel Veterans (T-70, E-wing).

yyyy/mm/dd used by some japanese friends of mine, it seems to be their standard (and it's goddamn logical!)

This is also the standard format in Sweden. It's also the best format :)

Metric is just as logical as the Japanese way. It's the USA one that's illogical. ;) This is coming from an American that lives in Europe now.

We just need to use the same format, i work with people around the world and it causes more work for me, just the month abbreviation used in all formats would be great.

I like month first, it gives context. Year seems fine for this too, but ive yet to come across it...or it was so good i never noticed.

Please, no more releases! I thought we were good.

I have enough, have spent enough, and am struggling to play what I have right now!

Seriously, there is enough on the table already. I love it, don't change it.

Plus, it's agony waiting for the slow a** boats they put the orders on once printed. Agony.

So, I'm good with no new releases.

...wait, there's a new pilot skill? A title? Really?

OK. Here's my money....

;)

It is really odd that they spoiled every card in the Vets box though, I don't think they've ever done that before.

The only new stuff is, what, the Pilots obviously, the three Titles, and then only three other cards aside from that? Scratch that, two different cards (Systems Officer and 2x Long Range Scanners).

The box is super exciting but there isn't a lot of stuff applicable outside of the two ships contained within.

We had a similar situation last year.

Wave 6 released Feb 26, Wave 7 announced Apr. 20.

I suspect we will get the wave 9 article before too long.

Raider was still inbound though. We didn't know all the cards yet.

When was the last time we knew it all? Maybe the wave 3/rebel transport gap in late 2013?

Yeah I remember playing around with all the new Scum options and salivating over the Advanced fix inbound. Not quite the same situation but the closest we've had in ages.

All this leads me to think there's something really special coming next week.

Huh? Yep here in the good ole US of A.

But in the rest of the world... well the rest of the world may look at it differently.

we have rogue one all ready.. Luke and or Wedge... just saying...

Has an American living in the US I prefer the metric system also. This also applies for measurement. Learned it back in 1968 and found it so much easier. At that time there was a strong movement to get the US on the metric system but, then someone figured out the it would cost millions just to change all the road signs.

A nurse nearly OD'd my preemie daughter on a med that could have had long term consequences. It was because she F'd up the conversion from ounces to grams. I caught it as she was writing down the dose, but I work with drug data for a living.

Dates are annoying. Measurement errors can kill. It is crazy that we haven't already switched completely over.

Anywho...

No announcement today. 4 days so far with no new shiny!

Same thought here. I had hopes for a new bomb.

I play all three factions, but I think its a bit starnge, that Imperials in this box again get the slightly meh cluster mines, The Punishest already has clusters.

The K-wing has the far better connors, the Ghost clusters. So rebels get both without needing to go cross-faction (and have thermal detonators so far exclusively in a rebel ship pack).

Strangely enough, in the UK the road signs and speedometers are still mph. Everything else seems to have changed except those...
