Y'all are talking about the B-Wing Mk II but not this?
Sure, I'm an EU/Legends noob, but the H-Wing is news to me and is getting me thinking.
You mean this?
So does that make the Y-Wing a P-38?

What is that ... some kind of troop transport/dropship (again)?
EDIT: Actually, yeah that's exactly what it is. You can see an open area for troops in the belly of the ship in the background. Four engines like a giant X-wing. It's cool looking. But it's still a dropship.
I don't know what it is, its from the Rogue One teaser some time back. I like the look of it, it could be something more than a troop transport, could still have fighter capablities! Else I say bring on the First Order/ Resistance/ Rogue One Transporters
Since you guys brought this ship up I'll just say this - Listen to Dwing cuz he might be on the right track!
Regarding EpVIII I have no issues with seeing next gen versions of classic ships but at the same time I really do hope to see new designs as well. If I don't, well at least Rogue One has that covered:)
Seriously WTF new trilogy?!
What's was wrong with these awesome new designs? C-Wing, U-Wing, V-Wing? Those all look cool as ****! Use them and stop rehashing the old ****!
I know this is a matter of personal taste but part of me is glad they didn't go with those designs. They aren't bad but they're missing something, can't really describe it but it has something to do with their silhouettes I feel. It needs to be more simple. The best one of the lot to me is the V-wing but it would've still needed some more tweaking.
Comparatively, when you see the new ship designs for Rogue One you'll know what I mean. Then again I expect some people to not like those also, so whatever...... each to his own.

I find it interesting and kind of sad that there's more likely to be fully new ship ship designs from Rogue One during the GCW than from EVIII 30 years later...
Is this the transport thing we see in TFA?
It's the basis for it, but not the actual thing.
I have to say I'm going to be kind of disappointed if the whole of the new trilogy has only redesigned original trilogy space ships in it rather than anything new.
More like the MkII B-wings were scraped to make those transports. So for now no Resistance B-wings. Maybe a 2 crew shuttle that moves similar to a B-wing but that is it.
*looks at no one complain about the progression of the z-95 to the x-wing*
Huh.
Actually, when we got the preview for it, I *did* complain that - of ALL the various Z-95 versions - FFG went with the one which looked the most like the T-65, and that was never canon.
The "canon" Z-95, from the Clone Wars series, actually looks unmistakably different from the T-65...

...I mean, for real, nobody is going to mistake that for an X-Wing.
Yeah, that's what makes me worried. It's the basis for it, but not the actual thing. Is this the transport thing we see in TFA?

This is an unfortunate concern of mine, too. In those pics we got last week, there was an "Episode 8 A-wing." Will be sad if most or all of the ships are updated versions of previous OT ships.
Both as a film viewer and star wars fan, and as a player of x-wing. Because there's only so much design space for retrodden designs.
It's really disappointing when you look at the concept art for the TIEs/f which looks amazing, like a mean cross between an interceptor and an advanced. But they just went with 'generic TIE with a window in the back and some extra battery packs'.
I blame the "fans" who looked at all the prequel trilogy ships and said how garbage they were. Complaining that they didn't look right for Star Wars (and not just because of them being CGI demi-cartoons).
But yeah, I'll agree it would be nice to see something different. Yet the New Republic wanted to demilitarize, so it makes sense that they just have tweaked versions of old designs. Meanwhile the First Order, while keeping the Tie Fighter, are all about new and improved.
Personally I'm waiting for Rogue One with the different painted X-Wing. Hopefully there'll be Titanium Black Series versions of them so I can get twelve. I really dig that paint scheme ![]()

I blame them too. I really liked the ship designs from the prequel trilogy, they were the diamond in the otherwise really, really rough films.
Especially the ep2 Jedi Interceptor, which I think could fit into x-wing really nicely. I'd see it being 3/3/3/1 Rebel ship (i.e. essentially a rebel Squint in terms of combat role) but with speed 3 greens and 1-hard reds and some k-turns. Add the astromech, and you end up with a ship with an all-green dial, which would be hilariously fun, and probably not unbalanced based on the existence of Kanan freaking Jarrus. You'd have to balance it around the idea of it taking Unhinged as a default though.
Hooning around at high speed in a miniature Star Destroyer ftw.

Jedi Starfighter and General Grevious ship (that Obi-Wan took) are the best. Second place belongs to the Republic Arc fighter. Third to them are the Naboo ships, with the royal ships being my favourite.
Wraidhth: Just curious, do you have any insider knowledge of more new Rogue One ships? Also I feel the same about those concept art. Nicely rendered, but not strong in design.
I think the dilemma Disney/J.J had with force Awakens was it had to bridge a 30 year old gab, telling the fans, no more Ep1-3, you are home, so they played everything a bit to safe. Rogue One can be that snotty littlebrother whos big brother always got his back, so he is cocky and fresh. Whatever Rogue One ends up presenting, it will be interesting to see how its fits with all the old ships we know and love. Ep 7-9 can do anything because they are set in an "unknown" future of the universe, so I do hope they start bringing out some surprises in design and story... and actually gives me a reason to care about Snooke... but that might be the task of Rogue One to!
Exciting times to be a Star Wars fan ![]()

The ARC-170 was also the X-Wing's predecessor. I suspect the different design is due to licensing issues - this would have been Clone Wars IP as opposed to Legends. A lot of X-Wingers are used to the ships from TIE Fighter, and this was different.

I do artwork for FFG and you may read into that however you will with regards to what I know and do not know:)

So I guess someone has seen the pilot cards for the ships in the upcoming Rogue One wave... Interesting...
That means that a ship that looks like a transport will come to X-Wing. Will they go conservative and make it the Rebels' Lambda Shuttle, or will they bring new boarding mechanics to the game? I'm excited!
Wraithdt: Roger that, and you guys do stellar work!!!

Can anyone point me at that? I don't recall ever seeing it!
The only thing I'd seen was the rather hot-rod image of an assymetric fighter someone pointed at a while ago:

So glad ffg didn't go with that version it's terrible.
