Arya Stark

I am wondering if a character has both renown and stealth, can Arya Stark take away both keyword with 1 influence?

Below is what Ktom said.

Then, if someone wants to trigger Arya, she needs a character that has a net result of stealth, Renown, or both. She then takes away one or both keywords, depending on which ones they had at the time she was triggered. So for our hypothetical GJ character:

Below is what some random FFG guy said,

First of all the only keywords that Arya can gain are "Stealth" and
"Renown." However, she can gain "Stealth" and "Renown" many times
each.

For example . . . if Arya was facing 3 opponents (1 with stealth and
renown, 1 with only stealth, and 1 with only renown) her controller
could kneel 4 different influence cards to take both stealth keywords
and both renown keywords

I have always seen it played and played it one influence per keyword, not per character. So the hypothetical character would require Arya to kneel 2 separate 1 influence providing cards. If you want an in-depth reason, you will have to wait for ktom or someone else.

I totally see it the other way around. Arya's text is:

" Any phase: Kneel 1 influence to choose a character with stealth or renown. Until the end of the phase, that character loses those keywords, and Arya Stark gains any keyword that was lost in this way."

So she takes "those" (plural) keywords, not "that" keyword (singular). The way it is written, the target character will lose multiple keywords if it has multiple keywords to lose. A single influence would remove both stealth and renown if the character had both stealth and renown when it was targeted. The designers may have intended something different, but that's not how the card reads.

Wow! We've been playing it all wrong locally since ITE. Thanks for the clarification ktom.

Is the Ktom the official response from FFG because the answer of this question will reflect on the official print run of Chinese version of AGOT?

No, I am not from FFG and you should not consider my words as anything official from the company. People on the boards just tend to ascribe some authority to my interpretations because of my long association and experience with the game.

If the Chinese version print run reflects to plural reference in "...that character loses those keywords...", at least Chinese players will have the same information left to player interpretation as the US players do.

Thanks for the help Ktom.

I've been doing it the other way and placing the emphasis on the first part of her text, that she chooses a character with stealth OR renown.

Yeah, but that's really just the target requirement, not the effect.

Suppose an effect said "Choose a Lannister or Stark character. That character loses those House affiliations." If you choose Littlefinger (dual Lanni/Stark character) as the target, what happens?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we've been using Arya's effect the wrong way too in DC, though I rarely play Stark so maybe the other guys knew better. (And I completely agree, it makes sense doing it the way Ktom suggests/explains now that I think it through.) In most cases, characters don't have both renown and stealth anyway, so it's pretty rare that this would affect most games, but in games where it is an issue I could see it mattering a lot.
