Tweaked 1st place Worlds list

By MajorSharpe1701, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello Everyone,

I was Wondering If I could get your opinion on this strong Rebel build I put together based off of Paul Heavers 2015 Worlds lists.

Poe Dameron - 31

- R2-D2 - 4

- Adaptability - 0

- Autothrusters - 2

Gold Squadron Pilot - 18

- BTL- A4 Y-Wing - 0

- R3-A2 - 2

- Twin Laser Turret - 6

Blue Squadron Pilot - 22

Prototype Pilot - 17

- Chardaan Refit - -2

So the idea behind this list is pretty straight forward to how Paul ran his but a ship upgrade if you will. Poe trades Veteran Instincts for adaptability. Can still beat most Aces but gives me that free crucial 1 point. The Y-wing is exactly the same (hard to change that one). The B-wing is replacing the other Y-wing with Twin Laser Turret. Arguably not the greatest trade but with Autothrusters being everywhere I figured another brawler is better. Lastly the Z-95 is replaced with an A-wing better than a Z-95 but still a blocker for sure. The biggest downside is he is no longer pilot skill 2 so have to pay closer attention to your order of activation's.

I believe this list is still very strong against most lists out there. Once those defenders come out I expect them to be everywhere and that k-turn is a strong move but I feel the stress hog will nerf it pretty well. The main concern would be 3x Contracted Scouts list. Anyway let me know your thoughts and what could potentially be swapped out for the A and B-wing.

This has some potential, but it is also worth considering dropping the A-wing back to a Z-95. This gives two points to make the B-wing a Dagger Squadron or the Stresshog a Gray Squadron. The wave 8 meta has started to fall in at PS8 for aces (which you saw) and PS4 for generics, where you might have a disadvantage.

And sitting at 99 points right now, why not throw Integrated Astromech on Poe?

And sitting at 99 points right now, why not throw Integrated Astromech on Poe?

...because Poe has autothrusters? Also, I count 100pts in this list, not 99.

Poe Dameron (31)

Adaptability (0)

R2-D2 (4)

Autothrusters (2)

Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

R3-A2 (2)

BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)

Roark Garnet (19)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Total: 100

Now you've got the Z-95, the Poe, a Stresshog and a support TLT. The support TLT is more fragile than another Y-Wing, but the Stresshog will be the alpha target so the impact will be somewhat reduced.

More importantly, your HWK can bump your Stresshog or your Z-95 to shoot at PS12, giving you the best of both worlds. Now your Z-95 can rush fast to block U-Boats, but still shoot before them. It also enables your Stresshog to do its dirty work before being taken off the table in a single round by enemy U-Boats or BroBots and their dominant alpha strikes.

I see what you mean about bringing that PS up on the stress hog, I think I would rather tinker around with having a Grey Squadron Pilot instead.

The Hawk (for me at least) is just too unreliable. I will tweak more in the next hour and be back with version 2.0.

Alright so here is what I came up with:

Poe-same

Stress Hog-same

A-wing- A-wing test pilot, proton rockets, adaptability, autothrusters, crackshot

Bandit Squadron Pilot

So the only real change from heavers list is the A-wing that packs a punch (basically the current meta A-wing). This way I have a really good chance at killing a Contracted Scout by the end of the turn, if not then than for sure before he can shoot the following turn.

I think this list really has a nice balance. Ignore Poe he will get into arch dodging range and do some serious damage, Ignore Stress Hog and he stops one Scout from being able to fire his second volley of ordinance the following turn, Ignore A-wing and he drops his payload and arch dodge the rest of the match, as for the Bandit I could just take crackshot off the A-wing and use that point to turn him into a Tala (which sounds like the better move) or he becomes the dedicated blocker...

I see what you mean about bringing that PS up on the stress hog, I think I would rather tinker around with having a Grey Squadron Pilot instead.

You might be discounting the HWKs ability to let Poe and the Stresshog split arcs slightly (for wider coverage) then allow either of them to shoot at Whisper before she can cloak. PS12 Stresshog's are good at murdering Whisper, or at least helpful in the effort.

The wave 7 and wave 8 meta's are completely different. You are trying to squeeze cucumbers to make lemonade. Poe is too predictable in his movements, 1 AGI ships get smoked... it is a whole new world out there.
