I'm playing in a small tournament on Friday and I've only really gotten one game of epic in. Comment and criticism welcome. Thanks!

Looks pretty good. I like the idea of using Jonus/Optimized Generators/2ndary weapons on the Raider to pump out the damage and keep the power up at the same time.

One small change I would recommend is to swap the guns around slightly and put the turbolaser on the Fore section. with its long range, I find it easier to get shots with in the opening turns as you close range.

Thanks for the reply! I agree on the turbo laser and will make the change. Any thoughts on opening positions for the raider? Odds are it'll be the first ship placed on the table so I was wondering what an optimal placement might look like. Thanks!!

Cheap TIE Fighters are amazing in Epic Games. Bring Howlrunner to fly around with them. Re-rolling all those blanks will net you more extra damage than Scourge will, although bringing Youngster as a backup plan for after Howlrunner dies is not a bad idea.

I'm not sure I understand. I mean I like howlrunner, but youngster with rage seems far more effective netting you a focus plus 3 rerolls instead of howlies 1. Plus, rage will extend out to range 3 while howlrunner only works at range one. I put epsilon leader in to strip away the stress from rage allowing them to potentially trigger it each turn if they can stick to greens. Is it really still worth it to bring howlrunner? I considered flying her with the raider to use swarm tactics to up it's PS but I didn't think it was worth the points since I could just put decoy on jonus instead.

Howlrunner does require you to fly in formation, but it's far more effective than Epsilon Leader + Youngster, which is a combo that falls apart if one of those ships dies. Epsilon Leader and Rage Youngster is a fantastic backup plan, but you want Howlrunner, and it won't hurt your squad to fly the TIE's in formation.

Relying on Youngster as the primary plan reduces the dials on all your TIE Fighters to green maneuvers only, which is far more restrictive than staying at range one of Howlrunner, which your squad would have to do with Epsilon Leader anyway.

If you insist on making Youngster the primary plan, I'd find room for Comm Boosters on the Raider so that you can clear stress on your TIEs after they Rage out. Just my two cents.

I see what you're saying. You make a good point about Howlrunner. I prefer her over going the comms booster route since it only affects one ship. If it could work on a swarm that would be great. I wish they would release a card for epic that was specifically meant to really help an epic ship boost a tie swarm. Its fluffy and needed I think. That way the synergy would have the swarm dependent on the huge ship rather than one particular tie which makes more sense.

So with the changes, here's what I'm thinking:

Any input would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any thoughts or tips on starting placement or tactics that would be great too. I know the ties will swarm but I will pretty much be the first one on the board so what would be the best way to place the raider and swarm so that I'm set up well for the game? Thanks!!

Maybe swap 1 ion cannon for a quad laser cannon on the Raider aft section. I like something that can provide close-range support for capital ships without relying exclusively on fighters for defense.

For positioning, I generally place my Raider about a quarter of the way across the board and aim for the centre. That means I can either cruise across majestically or swing around if my opponent deploys along the same side. Be careful when positioning your fighters that you will not accidentally run over anyone with your Raider during your opening move or two. I have once had to embarrassingly Boost out of the way to avoid squashing Fel with my own Raider on one occasion. :o

I've never really tried the quad laser since the range usually scares me away but I do worry about ships getting in close so I think I will give ti a try.

The thing about positioning that worried me is having the raider to far off to one side and it getting cut out of the game. THis was the case in the last team epic event I played in where it got shunted off to one side and didn't even get to fire until the final turn. I figure that my fighters will fly fast towards the center making a wall between the enemy and the raider. I'll try to tie up (lol) most ships in the center and then blast away with the raider from the back. I shoule be getting at least a couple epic games in tonight so I'm excited to see how it goes.
